If anyone knows how to get rare monsters to come out, I'd be thankful to know how to get Bluesang and Victanir to come out. I'm trying to obtain Damasus Steels for the Tournesol. The only rare monsters that I have ran into are purely accidental, I wasn't even looking for them, they just popped out.
 
Yeah, in order to get the rare monsters out you have to talk to them first, another thing I found on accident (that happened alot for alot of sidequests and such during the game). But I'm asking if you can spawn out certain ones.
 
If you're trying to get Dalmascus Steels you have to go to the Pharos and defeat those creatures of the "Headless" species. You can defeat Bluesang if you want, he's a headless, but he might not drop it. I believe he's the one that appears in Cerobi Steppe. If memory serves me, he can show up there but it's random and it's only about half the time. If you do it in the Pharos, there are a ton of those headless guys on every level. It's just a pain not attacking other creatures so they'll drop the good loot. Also, there's a rare headless monster there too... but he one of the Phon Coast hunts, so he only appears once. He's tough. Uses Renew at 10% health... bastard.
 
Also as for who you have to talk to before you face the creatures, you only have to talk to the Hunt Owner at the beginning when you face Giganta-Turtle. After that, you just have to meet certain conditions in certain areas like "defeat all of the Blue-footed boobies in Phon Coast for a 10% chance of the Ziglander to show up".
 
Aztec Triogal is right. The headless ones, Bunes, in Pharos at Ridorana drop Damascus Steel. Be sure to look at their names because you wanna kill Bunes and not Avenger. Avenger also when his HP is low will start casting Ardor magick.
