So, I know there is already a "Recommend me an RPG" thread, but to quite honest I've grown so tired of RPG's of late. :gonk: I want to play a game that keeps me on the edge of my seat...a horror!

To be a little more specific, I'm looking for a horror/survival title, but horror/action is also good if it can keep you creeped out! I've already beat RE5 and Dead Space, and I think those are the two major titles that the PS3 has (the only system I have to play said game on) so I'm kind of unsure where I should turn. I've been looking over the SAW game, as well as Clive Barker's Jericho, but I'm not so sure if those are solid games...

Help? :sad2:

I'd HIGHLY recommend Parasite Eve to you if you've not already played it. It's a mix of RPG/Survival Horror, made by Squaresoft. It's a PSone title. It came out between FFVII and FFVIII, so the graphics are a mix between those two. I just completed it myself and found it a good mix between scary and strategic. From what I've seen of the sequel to it, also on PSone, it's pretty scary as well. I know one of the cutscenes gave me a HORRID nightmare the othernight, and I just watched it on Youtube :ness:

Rofl no offence but parasite even wasnt even remotely scary or tense xD

As soon as i seen your thread i thought of dead space but uv finished that.
Thers always the silent hill games for ps1 and 2 theyre definately tense and pretty scary. As for ps3. Condemned 2 was pretty creepy and you can pick it up super cheap nowadyas aswell. Ive heard FEAR for the ps3 is meant to be pretty scary aswell though admittedly ive never played the game myself. Thats all i could really think of tbh :hmmm:

As good as Parasite Eve is, I have to agree it's not scary. It has a few creepy moments but that's it. I can only speak for the first game though.

What are your options console wise or does it just have to be for the PS3? If so how about Siren: Blood Curse? I have yet to play it but I do have friends who have been recommending it to me.

Forget the PS3. Go back in time and play the Silent Hill games! And wait till about 12 or 1am to play them in the dark.

Same here lolz. Id say the F.E.A.R. series, thatis shit scary man  Very jumpy and can be gory. Was Clive Barkers Jericho any good? That was rumoured to be scary, but I never bothered. Silent Hill is good to play in the dark and jump about XD

Hmmmm, I reccomend..

Resident Evil (PS1/Capcom)

In my opinion, this is the first true horror-survival game, and is definitely worth playing, it's actually worth playing more than once due to multiple characters and multiple endings, back in the day when this game was first released, I played it and to put it frank, I s%*t myself, but I was only 7, today when I play it, I don't get freaked out but I have to admit, the music is still REALLY eerie and generally creepy. The use of fixed camera-angles made this game so much scarier too, because sometimes you'd enter a room, hear a Zombie or another type of monster, but wouldn't be able to see it, this a common theme in the older Resident Evil games, and is a very clever way of scaring the audience. Play this game, you won't be dissapointed, with the exclusion of the voice-acting :P

The only game that I've played that would be suitable would probably be F.E.A.R.

It has a lot of Japanese horror elements to it... have you seen The Ring or The Grudge? It has a little girl like the ones from those movies in it.

It's a pretty good game I would say. It's a FPS and a lot of it involves moving through claustrophobic areas which are dark and require a flash light (which is limited) to maneuver through. I can't tell you how many times I nearly shat myself because my torch ran out of battery. >_> And there are a few jumpy moments and gruesome scenes as well.

So yeah... I would go with F.E.A.R.

If you have a Wii, then get RE4. It is brilliant. Also pick up Dead Space Extraction.
Alan Wake has its moments.

Clocktower 3 was definitely creepy. It's for the PS2. They need to make a new one.. maybe they have? I dunno, haven't kept up with it//
You're a 9 yr old girl all alone in an evil-infested world_ survive

Dead Space// This is the kind of game where you get scared to look around the corner and even if you know what's around it, it still makes you jump.
