Redemption!

I recently purchased FFXII and I must admit I was rather sceptical. Square Enix's last 2 attempts at a console version of their main series (10 and 10-2) were absolutely atrocious. I attempted to play these substandard games I really did, but after an hour or so I just couldn't bring myself to play them any longer. They just didn't feel like final fantasy. I know some of you will be jumping around in your chairs shouting abuse at me and hoping my PC comes alive and swallows me whole for my blasphemy towards Final Fantasy, but they just lacked that special something, that Je nous c'est Quoi! (All you people who actually go and translate that, literally it means I us it is what, it's just a French saying meaning that special something!) I really lost faith in the series and thought that they were past their best. It had lost its heart and soul that made Final Fantasy so good. I deviated away from the series to play other games briefly returning to watch Advent Children but I had really given up on FF. Then FFXII was previewed and to be perfectly honest I just wasn't interested. I didn't care if it did this or did that better, I just wasn't interested. After FFX, what Square Enix said just didn't hold water. However, a week ago I was sat around watching TV wishing payday would hurry up and come so I could afford to go out when I saw an advertisement for FFXII. Wow! The game looked breathtaking! So I decided that I would give Square the benefit of the doubt and give it a chance. And to be perfectly honest I hated it, but only for the first 3 hours or so. I kept playing because I thought this is really bad but it's got potential and my perseverance paid off. The game is amazing and I'm only 15 hours in. Square have managed to nail this game and give it back the heart and soul that makes the series great. Forget about its problems and its flaws, this game is phenomenal. Their best game since FFVII. I usually don't even like real-time battle systems but Square has managed to make it still feel like FF. If you ask me this is nearly redemption for FFX and FFX-2. Now all that's left is for them to do is remake FFVII or make FFVII-2 and I'll completely forgive them. lol

Anyways, Personaly X wasn't too bad. Had it flaws but it lived up its FF name well, it was the sequal that brought it down. FFXII does seem to be the best one for a long time now, a very slow start at the beginning of the game but once your in its stunning. I can see myself palying this for months

-It'd be cool if they remake FFVII.- So ban me. No really, I agree that they should be focusing on other projects. But well, some part of me thinks that it wouldn't hurt if they can remake FFVII. Just as long as they've got the time and money, shouldn't be a problem. Hmm, actually...I really don't care if they remake it ten years from now! They could probably set the whole FFVII remake aside and focus on newer projects first. How about that?

Anyway, back on topic...I actually like FFXII overall, cu3y. Haha, well actually we're kinda like the opposites. See, when I first started it, I was sooo into it and enjoyed it immensely. Then after 15-30 hours, I kinda got bored and started to find things that I disliked, which I already mentioned in many previous posts. >.< So anyway, I'm starting to play it again (I stopped playing for a few weeks), and I'm almost done with the game. I can say that I'm starting to appreciate it again.

We'll always have our likes and dislikes, and that's fine, you know. I'm glad you enjoy FFXII though. Oh and I thought VII-X was pretty damn good! Especially VII, VIII, and IX.

X wasn't that bad either, I guess there was just a lot of things about that world which didn't appeal to me. But FFXII, when I began playing it, blew every single FF, including FFVI, out of the water. There's just so many things I love about it, I cann't get enough!

I wouldn't mind a remake of FFVII or FFVII 2 either. I liked FF8, 9 and 10 as well. But FFXII totally blew me away when i first started. I am about 61 hours in and level 44, and this is the first FF where i have been challenged on so many levels. When i played the other ones i might get stuck now and then but never got my butt kicked sooo much like in FFXII. Though I wish there was a stronger/cooler lead character, other than that this game never ceases to amaze me. I get all new weapons and level up some go to a new hunt only to get wipped like a red-headed step child. But i like a challenge and i do agree that this latest installment is a breath of fresh air in the FF series.

This is the first FF where i have been challenged on so many levels. When i played the other ones i might get stuck now and then but never got my butt kicked sooo much like in FFXII. I have to get oe thing off my chest though. People keep saying how nothing can beat VII and such but I enjoyed IX, X and am enjoying XII, just as much as VII.

XII has brought the series back to life. I remember I didn't get a PS2 until KH and X-2 was already out and I got X-2 before X. How messed up is that. But XII had so much to the game. I've already played 90 hours and beaten the game but I still haven't completed all of the sidequests or gotten all of the espers. Once I get back to playing it there will still be so much to do.

Yeah thats the same thing that happend with me, at first i hated it and when i got going i loved it, and still do love it (although it is unbelivably hard) but it reminds me of 2 games;
Vagrant Story - PSX - The battle system is relativly the same
The Legend Of Zelda - Nintendo - The music and the setting

XII is amazing.And for once I wish some of these people could discuss a FF game without blowing a load over FFVII!!!Wishing for remakes,wishing for a sequel,blah blah blah.....Look forward,people!Pop in FFVII after finishing FFXII and you'll see how overrated it is!And most of these FFVII fanboys haven't even played real gems like FFTactics and Xenogears.I'm laying down the gauntlet now-FFVII and Sephiroth blow!!!!
