Remaking

No, it wouldn't.

What would really be cool is if Square Enix stopped doing so many remakes, revamps and remixes of games and just went back to what made the earlier games so popular. I.e. the ATB and good character development and interaction.
It would also be cool if retarded fans of the series woke up and realised that a remake of a game does not equal something good. But of course none of that is realistic.

what about remaking FFX and FFXII onto a portable such as PSP XD

How about leaving well enough alone and moving on? And why would they remake XII when it just came out last year?

Concur. I really don't see the point in making remake after remake of old games. I understand newer fans want to play the older games. But it's not like copies are impossible to get a hold of. I'll use E-bay and Amazon as examples.

And this sequel/side-story thing is getting to be ridiculous. I much preferred the FF series pre-SE. Now every single game is whored out to the extreme.

True, but Microsoft seem to be slowly gaining popularity from the Japanese developers. It could be possibly though if Square decides to released remakes on both Xbox and PS3. SE is releasing Infinite Undiscovery on the Xbox 360. We'll see how that goes.

Infinite Undiscovery is being published by SE not developed so in some ways it's not too big a risk for them, but if that soes well then who knows? But RPGs aren't really massive big sellers on the Xbox which is a fair enough statement I believe and beyond the Mistwalker games and a couple other there aren't many coming out for it and as I've said even Blue Dragon was a failure sales wise.

Japanese developers will make games for the 360 since there is a market there to exploit but companies like SE who develop mostly RPGs would be less likely to do so.

Another thing against remakes is that the game itself won't have the same impact as before because you know what's coming up, it may look more pretty but it'll basically be the same game as before for the main quest at the very least.

It would be super duper if the obessed fans would accept it's not 1997 anymore and move on.

The thing is, Square Enix are not going to go back down that road. The only FF games I have actually enjoyed over the past 5 years are the remakes. I'm already anticipating the FFIV remake more than I am anticipating the whole Fabula Nova Crystallis. Besides, I have kind of lost my interest in FFXIII since they haven't publicly given any details that is noteworthy in like a year whereas all the other big games you are seeing new footage on them like every month.

Took the words right outta my mouth. SE need to put a stop to this. SS never did this remake crap. As far as Im aware.

Well, they didn't have the chance with 7, 8 and 9, but they could have with 1-6, I'm glad they didn't though. :)

To be fair SE haven't many remakes to my knowledge beyond PSP FF!+II and DS FFIII and FFIV recently. They're more guilty at porting old titles and making shit spin offs than anything, not to say that's a good thing either.

Include shit spin offs into my previous comment too then. :monster:
I don't see why they seem to think that fans want to see the same thing again and again. FFIV, V and VI were released on PS1 and did perfectly well. Those were probably the smartest remakes they've done since not many people still own an original, working NES. But let's just leave it there please.

They think that fans would buy the same is because they know that they would buy them (at full fucking price which is my major problem with ports) again and again and probably one more time for the sake on an extra boss. Until people stop buying them and creating a market for them then this trend will continue.

In the end it makes them money so you can't expect them to stop until that changes.

The fact that the game is called Infinite Undiscovery is probably going to fail anyways. The name only appeals to Japanese audience. It seems that Square doesn't take very much consideration about what the North American and European audience think.

Yeah, Blue Dragon was a failure but still got the Japanese to run out and buy a 360 just to play the game.

True, RPGs ever never big on the Xbox 360. Mircosoft is also money hungry so they'll do their best to get developers to create RPGs on the Xbox 360 so it can attract more Japanese players. True that the Xbox 360 is doing rather horribly in sales but that won't stop Mircosoft there.

Unfortunately I don't think Square Enix doesn't care about old FF fans that are against remakes. They would remake FFVII and they know they'll make millions off it. I do agree that FFV-FFIX should be left alone.

To be fair SE haven't many remakes to my knowledge beyond PSP FFI+II and DS FFIII and FFIV recently. They're more guilty at porting old titles and making shit spin offs than anything, not to say that's a good thing either.

Agreed. Square Enix was smart enough to re-release FFIII. The game was never released outside of Japan. It was fair of them to release the game for non-Japanese audiences. Same goes for FFII.

Why can't SE just make all the remaking on the same console?
It sucks being a fan and miss a game because it's in a different console.

I´m fine with remakes as long as they don´t change anything in storyline.

In FFVII case I´m worried they change scenes like where Cloud has to dress like woman and no dating with Barret. Damn SE make stupid compilation of FFVII and I´m afraid they change those things just please some dedicated Cloud-fans. No I want transvetite Cloud to be in game.

Oh I wish there was FF tactics remake on DS. I wanna play really bad Tactics but don´t want buy new console.

Great idea. Bring on the remake of Final Fantasy XIII before the original! That way, we don't have to bother with the original one in the first place! :wacky:
