Resident Evil 6 contains “seamless” conversation system, according to Dengeki PlayStation

The latest Dengeki PlayStation magazine leak notes Resident Evil 6 will contain a “seamless” conversation which will allow the dialogue to change depending on the situation in the game. The magazine also states the development team at Capcom were curious as to whether it was “going overboard with the conversation system,” due to the large amount of content associated with voice acting. Later this year. Thanks, Siliconera.

Resident Evil 6 pre-orders franchise’s “best start” to date

Eight months out from release, Resident Evil 6 is already out-performing its precursors.

20120314residentevil6.jpg

“The pre-orders for Resident Evil 6 are off to a fantastic start. The best start a Resident Evil game has ever had,” Capcom’s Christrian Svensson told GameInformer.

Capcom doesn’t have any worries about launching during one of the most crowded release seasons.

“We’re saying, ‘Get the hell out of the way.’ We’re a big game. We’re letting you know we’re coming,” Svensson said.

“We’re giving people plenty of room to move around us.”

The executive said pre-orders for both Operation Raccoon City and Revelations jumped in the wake of Resident Evil 6′s announcement, too.

Revelations gained some notoriety at launch for a typo on the case which affected around 90,000 units; Svensson couldn’t provide an explanation.
“I can’t even tell you how many people looked at that package and approved it,” he said.

“Nintendo of America, Nintendo Japan, ESRB, I don’t know how many people internally, and our guys in Japan. I can’t come up with an excuse for it. It just happened. We’re not happy about it. It’s embarrassing. I can’t really sugarcoat it.”

Capcom has taken measures to try and stop such errors creeping in again.

“There are new processes that were put in place that involve people outside the company. We’ve redefined who has final say over packaging. I’m cautiously optimistic we won’t be seeing this happen again.”

Resident Evil 6 is being pushed to an earlier release date of October 2nd.

Resident Evil 6 Captivate details, media
Mysterious character revealed as Wesker Jr.
by Sal Romano [@salromano] at 11:20 AM EDT, April 10, 2012 .

RE6-Captivate-2012.jpg

Capcom revealed new details, screenshots, and video for Resident Evil 6 today, following the embargo lift for its Captivate games showcase in Rome. It’s also revealed a release date change, pushing the game up from its November 20 release to October 2.
Pairings
Resident Evil 6 features three distinct, yet interwoven story threads, each with their own pair of protagonists for either solo or co‐op play, both offline and online.
They are:

  • Leon S. Kennedy is paired with US government agent Helena Harper.
  • Chris Redfield teams up with fellow BSAA member Piers Nivans.
  • The previously mysterious mercenary (pictured) has now been revealed as Jake Muller, son of the infamous Albert Wesker. Jake is joined by Sherry Birkin, the daughter of former key Umbrella scientists, William and Annette.
A New Threat
Resident Evil 6 introduces the highly virulent C‐virus that has been unleashed on an unsuspecting and unprepared world, creating new and deadly transformations.
Zombies make a return to the Resident Evil series, but can now run, jump at players and even use weapons, making them far more challenging than in previous games.
The enemy creatures known as J’avo first came to prominence in the conflict zone of Eastern Europe and have the ability to regenerate when injured.
The C‐virus also gives rise to the Chrysalide, where a full metamorphosis occurs, spawning a whole host of horrific creatures.

Kind of unhappy with the direction that RE is going, it's not really survival horror anymore, just plain old action horror. The fact that the zombies are just gun toting henchmen effectively, spoils the idea somewhat.

I love Resident Evil and part of me is excited about RE6, but my better judgement tells me to be skeptical. I have absolutely no faith in Capcom to make a great Resident Evil game. Don't get me wrong, Resident Evil 4 was a great game, but it's a horrible Resident Evil game and it turned the series into "Call of Duty: Resident Warfare," and I imagine this will be just more of the same shovelware that Capcom has been putting out for the past 5+ years.

Japan to get $1,300 Resident Evil 6 limited edition

Most special editions get you a few posters, artbook and a behind the scenes. This one will let you get and wear an actual leather jacket. Big fucking leagues, son.

re6-3.jpg

Capcom is set to launch a limited edition of Resident Evil 6 at its release in Japan.

The pack (via 8-4′s Mark MacDonald) will include the game itself, four cases for your phone and – the best part – an actual wearable replica of Leon’s jacket in the game.

All yours for how much? ¥100,000 ($1,300/£800). The release is limited to 5,000 units, though. Big leagues, boi.

Capcom announced yesterday it would release Resident Evil 6 worldwide on October 2, bringing it forward from November 20 on PS3 and 360. Japan gets the game on October 4.

Resident Evil 6 to be around 30 hours long

Resident Evil 6′s length will triple that of Resident Evil 5, director Eiichiro Sasaki has said.

re6-4.jpg

Sasaki told NowGamer it expects the games to be around 30 hours long, more than that of RE5.

“The three characters each have their own story and you can choose whichever one you want and play that story, experience that character’s story,” he said.

“In terms of length, each character’s story is a little bit less than RE5 but when you combine them together you’re getting something that is much longer.

“While each character’s story stands alone, all of the characters wind up in the same area of the game, in China, so there is a certain level of overlap. They stand on their own but they do overlap in certain areas. You don’t have to play them all, of course.”

Resident Evil 6 launches on October 2 on PS3 and 360 worldwide and in Japan on October 4, $1500 limited edition and all.

Update

Resident Evil 6 pre-order bonus maps detailed

Check out the Mercenaries mode maps you can score by putting your Resident Evil 6 pre-order in through specific retailers.

20120412re6.jpg

As detailed on Capcom Unity, Amazon, best Buy and Gamestop all carry different maps as pre-order bonuses.

  • The Catacombs – Gamestop
There are more than just enemies lurking in these catacombs. Be weary of booby traps ready to ensnare you around every corner! Are your reflexes quick enough to avoid them?
  • High Seas Fortress – Amazon.com
An expansive stage that takes you from the deck of an aircraft carrier to the hangars inside. Engage in intense shoot-outs on the deck, but hone your martial arts skills inside the narrow confines of the hangers.
  • Rail Yard – Best Buy
A multi-level stage in the steel and concrete confines of a railroad yard. Enemies are lurking everywhere, from inside the trains to the roof of the yard. You’ll have to stay on the move to stay alive.
Presumably these maps will be available for purchases as DLC once Resident Evil 6 launches in October, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Mercenaries Mode is a co-operative horde-style multiplayer mode.

Will Leon Be Used By Another Beautiful Woman In Resident Evil 6?

Capcom have put up a brief internal interview with three senior members of their Resident Evil 6 team on their community site. Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Executive Producer), Eiichiro Sasaki (Director) and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi (Producer) touch upon a few points of Resident Evil 6’s story and play style, and while there aren’t any major reveals during the talk, they do tease some interesting things.

First off, as suspected, Chris’ style of play is more action-oriented—since Chris and the BSAA are waging a war against bio-terrorism—and Leon’s is slower, with a greater focus on horror. This decision was made very early on, but the three creators say that the Chris sections of the game won’t be straightforward action. Depending on the paths you take, you’ll encounter horror aspects as well.

You may recall that, at one point, Capcom used the term “dramatic horror” to describe Resident Evil 6. This shouldn’t be a considered a new genre—the basis of the game is still survival horror, but “dramatic horror” is the term they’re using to indicate that they’re trying to create a story that will make the player feel involved. As previously reported, Resident Evil 6 will also have a considerable amount of voice-acting, and this will be reflected in the form of the characters constantly talking to their partners.

On the subject of characters, while only Chris, Leon and Jake are playable—as far as we know—each of them also has a partner. Chris is teamed up with fellow BSAA member Piers Nivans. While this is the first time Piers has appeared in a Resident Evil game, he was introduced in a Resident Evil manga in Japan a while ago. In 6, Capcom want to give the impression that he’s been a part of the BSAA for a while.

Meanwhile, Jake Muller, who is also Albert Wesker’s son, is teamed up with Sherry Birkin, who makes her first major appearance since Resident Evil 2. Sherry was affected by the G-Virus and lost both her parents at a young age. Meanwhile, Jake has Wesker’s blood. These parallels between the two characters will bring them together and a bond will form between them during the course of the game.

Finally, poor Leon finds himself in a situation that’s all too familiar to him. The dev team feel that Leon gives off the impression of someone that’s been used by many women throughout the years, and wanted to play up that aspect further in Resident Evil 6. Leon’s partner is Helena Harper, and there are several mysteries surrounding her. The developers tease that he may find himself being used by a pretty lady once more. No mention was made of whether the other lady in the recent trailer was Ada Wong, but if it was, one would imagine Leon has much to look forward to.

Counting each playable character’s partner, that makes for six protagonists. Capcom decided on this because they felt it would give them an opportunity to tell a more interesting story. With regard to the partner system, one of the major improvements being made is the ability to drop in and out of co-op play at any time. You won’t have to return to previous checkpoints or start stages over from the beginning if someone wants to join your game.

Finally, zombies are a part of the “dramatic” storytelling style, too. The zombies in Resident Evil 6 are a result of the C-Virus, but how they’re born is being kept under wraps for now. When you encounter them, you may see them holding items from their former lives as humans. For instance, a former chef may wield a cleaver, while another zombie might be holding a baseball bat. So, zombies can use weapons, and they’re faster than players are accustomed to, too, in order to make them more frightening.

Resident Evil 6 sold over a month early in Poland
Capcom probably isn't going to like this.

by Sal Romano [@salromano] at 10:54 AM EDT, August 31, 2012 .

Resident Evil 6 is due out worldwide on October 2. Today is August 31 – 32 days before the game is supposed to be released. A Poland shop has let go of the game early, however, allowing a few lucky consumers to start playing now.

Obviously, this early sale is not something Capcom would have allowed. But it happened.
Neogo.pl says to expect a video soon.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

SPOILER ALERT! lol sorry just had to post this article.

I betcha someone in poland just lost their job >.>; but seriously why do this, they should know there might be repercussions for these actions, lol oh well I'll have to avoid youtube for now I don't wanna be spoiled D;

The game was pretty shite i thought. I beat leons scenario and im on the last chapter of chris's and have done a few of jakes. To me it feels like an action game where your constantly low on ammo which is just a pain. I liked leons scenario best as it was actual zombies. Not crazy masked guys with guns and dudes on snow jets shooting me. Overall really dissapointed with the campaign. I enjoyed re5 even though there was no horror element in it and whilst re6 tried a little to bring back horror it didnt work. What annoys me now is theres no linking between games. Your never really filled in on events that happen in between games. Theres a virus now for every letter of the alphabet. That aside..yeah i didnt like it all that much. Maybe mercs will be a positive as i played hell outta that on re5.

Yeah I do feel that the Mercs in 6 is really fun, as for the low ammo thing, I think that was the game trying to incorporate some of the old elements of the series, as well as encouraging the use of melee attacks, if you have a mix of firearms and melee it is possible to keep a comfortable level of ammo on hand.

Myself, i've reached the final scenario now and once I finish that off i'll be giving professional ago, i've also heard about a difficulty above that called 'No Hope' which sounds... Really... Insane.

It's a big fat bore. Even playing two player is not making it that much more exciting.

Lack of ammo when you have like 10 zombis coming at you at once is just annoying, and so is trying to find your way through a snow storm with no ammo and heaps of zombies (who some how know how to drive a snow scooter)
I get they're trying to be more realistic or more like the older games, but c'mon, they went a bit extreme, it's not like Jake or Chris's parts are stealthy or whatever, they're action so why give us such limited stuff.

The game just felt unfinished to me too, there's a scene where you're running from some huge thing with a robot hand, and you're meant to jump away from him, so you press x, then you wait like 10 seconds while your characters run into an invisible wall so the zombie can catch up before you jump. It's just so lazy.

I want to try Leon's though... maybe that can save it for me...

Leon's is the most like the old style, he comes with a survival knife which can help conserve ammo, as for Jake and Chris, it's more appropriate that you run out of ammo with those two since they're so heavily action oriented. As for Jake's part, I personally felt he was more effective when you took advantage of his charged up physical attacks, he can clear a room rather quickly that way, even beat that big boss in no time with a full combo. The majority of the characters come with a backup weapon of some kind for when you're low on ammo from knives, tazers, hand to hand, Helena's Hydra or just straight up melee, which is a really simple way to save ammo. The game just isn't one where you can go all guns blazing, I had an almost constant overflow of ammo on Chris' scenario because I was largely using melee or the knife to converse my assault rifle :lew:

The thing is it doesnt feel look or play like the old games. Its not survival horror so the lack of ammo is really really just an annoyance. I dropped the difficulty from medium to easy and had tonnes of ammo which i didnt need so went back so i could play normal and again barely had any. Running over to someone and punching them aint no fun when theres a room of folk shooting you. Meh i thoguht it sucked

I had high hopes aswell because RE revelations on the 3DS was really really good =/

If anything I found melee preferrable in a tight area with several enemies, but I suppose it's just preference, might be because I played a fair bit of Mercs that I adapted my ammo levels to compensate and it carried over into the scenarios.

Hmm I enjoyed the storyline somewhat I kinda like the J'avo since they mutate to make it more of a task to kill them ((most though just a running kick+head stomp takes care of them))

Leons/Adas was the best imo I enjoyed Jake/Sherrys too, and Chris well I never liked chris outside of RE1 so meh.

I found Horror elements in some parts of each story. ((Tbh it woulda been scarier if the lazers in the later chapter "Killed you" instead of just hurting you a bit.

As for Ammo, I tend to always have some on hand and if I need more I have a seperate skill chain "Item Drop +, Increase Ammo Pickups" I normally have too much ammo for each weapon and not enough space for herbs/nades.

On normal, Pro I'll need some infinite ammo so I have plenty of healing items ~.~.

As for the other modes, I liked Agent hunt but some zombies/monsters are kinda unbearable, Dogs for instance have to constantly run because its walk is so sluggish, turning is next to impossible so pretty much your a dog missile with a bad guidance system LOL. best monster I played as was the Shreaker xD its fun to annoy people with its scream~

Mercenaries is pretty fun, I rarely played Merc mode in RE4 so I suck kinda with my aim ((mostly the damn dogs/bloodshot mobs))

So far I'm enjoying RE6 even though so many gripe about it ._.

I like this game. I played the demo myself and thought it was okay. It's just not a gameplay style I like. But watching Dad play it has been fantastic. It's easily up there as one of the best Resident Evil games. If anything, the scenes are amazing to watch! I look forward to watching my Dad finish this game. :mokken:

Resident Evil 6 is the best one Ive played hands down, I love Leons and jakes campaign the best with Ada being last. Sorry but I disown ever playing chris's campaign cause it sucked and it felt more like a hardcore shooter and thats not what I purchased.

Anyway having the story split up to tell the side of story from a differet point a few went over well with me. I also like they gave us an option to play as the co op partner if where doing single player like I never expected crapcom to be so considerate. I found myself during mercenaries before even finishing my first campaign, it felt lke I was doing an rpg cause i had something to grind.

After beating the game I found myself literally only playing to help others who havent beaten it yet through random onlin matchs. I set up my search criteria to match peoplw who where hre for the story which would increase the chances of running into someone who hasntbeaten it yet. I can tell if they havent beaten it yet by how they play I can assure it was rare to run into someone who has beaten it so i had no problem finding sessions. Im sure everyone is curious but no I didnt spoil it for the people I was playing with...unless that person stopped and looked at my profile to see i have the game 100% beat or i have all achievments on it they wouldnt know unless they take a guess and see how good im playing. But I tried not o take point unless I was asked to...since a few of them had mics and fund out I beat it and wanted me to take the lead and let me go to town. But other than that I triedto follow me, even tho I know nothing will happen at a this part or that one I still readied myself like I didnt know just so I wouldnt spoil it, and I found it pretty fun cause it was something to do :)
