Is it just me or the more monster you fight, the more funny/stupid looking they and their attacks get...
Blobra (fuuny on it's own^^); Sticky-Icky
Wedingo (headless gorilla); Dribble
Torama; I don't know the name of the attack but the punchline is it fires lasers from his whiskers
Don't even get me started on Gilgamesh and Cactuars...
...oh yeah, and what was the monster/attack that you found most funniest?
:P

I actually thought the monsters got better, blue dragons, t rexaurs, hexadrons, they looked much more ferocious than the earlier beasts.
Cactaurs are classics they're there for comic purposes and ap :) My least favourite monster would be the elnoyles they just looked stupid! What was up with the pointy thing? Was it their tail?

I don't know about the more you fight, the stupider they look arguement. However, there were alot of stupid looking monsters, I agree. But I also thought that the earlier monsters were generally the stupider looking monsters. Those Gnats (sp?) in the training center in Balamb were ridiculous. Everytime I would battle one I would pause and my sister and I would put our arms in the air and sway. It quickly became a very stupid, running joke.

Also what about that area where things like the mu's would pop up and you would have to give like ore and stuff?!? WTH was with that? Or that guy that said the riddles >_>

What's up with the monster Creeps? I think the monster designer just got bored with his job and the result was this flat 2-D shadow which swims on the ground.

Btw, Aeralea, you find Grats in the Training Centre.

I liked all of the monsters really, monster design isn't such a big thing for me, the weirder the better!
None of them bothered me, just how they were itended to be:monster:

Ah thats it, I knew it was something that sounded like that.

@MasterVivi - As for the that Mu section, holy crap you are right that was IX, wow I'm really starting to lose the plot now. First not being to pronounce names and now getting the games confused. I really need to go and play them again. I easily get confused when it comes to subplots and aimless wandering around the world maps.

As for the Creeps I completely agree with you. I get that they are shadows and therefore are realistically 2-D but they always looked like pieces of paper to me. Like somebodies Halloween decorations that escaped.

I liked the design of monsters in FFVIII, T-Rexaur for example is epic, it's very well made.

There are some weird looking monsters like Gesper, you know those big things with giant heads and long arms, they're pretty weird. The slapper is a funny monster, i remember the description it had on him, "a member of Galbadia Gardens demi-human hockey team" lol.

I guess the sorceresses that you fight after Lunatic Pandora also look pretty weird even for a sorceress, i would guess they could look more human, but the creator probably got tired of making them look human and decided to create stuff like Adel for a change.

As for the most stupid attack, i would have to say it's the bite attack from the Fake weakling President, it's stupid and i guess the creator could have done a better job there, but that's about it. Personally i think FFVIII as a great set of monsters with good attacks and which are very well designed, and in the end every Final Fantasy as a weird monster with stupid attacks it's a common thing.

Yeah, there are some pretty pwnsome looking monsters, but the silly ones repel the rookie FF8 players (like the ones we were once)! We all had a time when we saw something wierd like the tonberry and said "WTF?!?!"...
:tonberry:

I had that reaction to Tonberry in Final Fantasy VII:D

The problem with the Tonberry would be that a battle against one is kind of boring and not so much because they look weird or have dumb attacks.

yeah those creeps were funny. When u hit them, they make such a weird noise.
The gnats were stupid and not hard ever...
The T-rex always scared the hell outta me so I ran away most of the time xD

I for one think the silliest monsters belong to FFVII. I mean, giant green triceratops on huge wheels, bouncing masks that cast Cure3 on you, the guy in Shinra Mansion who swings around on the ceiling, and the Hell House. Oh god, the Hell House. xD Easily the most difficult normal monster in the game up until that part, and it's...a moving house that shoots what appears to be mini nuclear missiles at you.

^ Lets try to keep the discusion on FFVIII monsters please ^_^

Blobras - they don't have them in VII so when I first plyed VIII and came across those I was just like...wtf are those, they look like jelly.... then they'd do that daft punch and I'd be like o-----k, SOMEone was on drugs

Isn't there a monster (I'm thinking it's like the grats, but I'm not sure...) that has an attack of "fart"? I remember seeing something like and just being like "Um... right...?".

There's giant caterpillars near Balamb Garden...they shoot energy rings out of their backside that turn everything pink and I think can spit at you. o_O And despite being caterpillars, they give you spider webs...

FF Wiki says Bite Bugs use fart.

Yeah and Gizzards, i think, vomit at you...the Buels r also weird (heads with 2 sets of 3 wings, dove and bat, spinning around)...
...and the Imps... they're always facing backwards at u! WTF is up with that?

The molboro's bad breath attack. It hilariously made me want to stab myself with a spoon.

Malbaro's did suck ass, but I think there's already a thread on them! :)

Blobra would have to get my vote too, my friend was falling asleep fighting one, and we were like "Wake up! uou're going to get killed by a Blobra!" maybe it was funny at the time. But being slapped to death by blue or red slime isn't big or clever.

Also I forget the name, but the one that is a bit like a goat, found on the trabia continent. has a circular frisbee stuck to its head which it fires off. Very weird. Mesemersomething.
