[RP] Balamb Garden

Kallen Akaurasu

Cids announcement didn't really surprise her, the SeeD's that stopped the Sorceress before were busy, it seemed only Squall, Quistis, and Zell we're coming. Squall like always leaned against the wall taking everything in while being lost in his own little world. Kallen Sighed but her ears perked up when she hear the door open fast and a slightly wet Mercy comes in.

"D-did i miss anything?"

Kallen giggled and stood up walking over to Mercy helping her up.

"No Mercy you didn't, C- err Headmaster Cid just told us some of the SeeDs weren't coming along with us, so its pretty much just this group unless they decide to join us later on." Kallen spoke while helping Mercy up.

Kallen was happy her new friend was able to make it and was glad she had another girl to talk with.

Mercy Kodashi - Entrance Gate

"Im sorry im late"
she said just managing to catch her breath. "I was training and i lost track of the time" she added yet she knew it sounded rediculous. She deflated a little as she noticed there was no other people she knew there, at least noone but kallen she had spoken more than two sentences to. she did her best to smile in spite of her thoughts and talk to Kallen "So, are you ready for this?" she joked around as if they werent going to have help from everyone else on the mission and that it was going to just be her and Kallen all the way through it. She pushed herself up to her full height of a short 5 foot 4 and gave her best 'im a hero' stance to alleviate some tension

"So, are you ready for this?"

"Yeah.. More or Less, As Long as I have a friend along and my Gunblade I'll be fine" She said Happily with a smile.

Surprisingly Mercy was a just a tiny bit taller than Kallen, She Giggled at the Pose Mercy made.

"We have a big group here so I'm sure we'll get to know them sooner or later."

Once She Said that to Mercy she walked back over to Squall and looked up at him, As usual he's in deep thought ignorant of the world around him, She tapped his shoulder to get his attention.

"Thinking a lot again Squall?" She Asked him.

Squall Leonhart

Squall was deep in thought about the group..

"Looks like Only Zell and Quistis are coming... I guess Rinoa didn't want to risk being captured and sealed again.. And All these new guys joining, I hope I don't have to babysit..." He thought to himself, he concentration was broken when Kallen came over and tapped his shoulder.

"Thinking a lot again Squall?" She asked.

"...No not really, I'm just waiting till we dock at FH so we can get on with this.." He answered.

((OOC:Short Posts sorry D; ))

Stephen looked around, the group right before Cid entered view through the door, Stephen spun around to look out over the horizon, and it gave him a feeling of serenity, it felt as though time was standing still, just the ocean sounds to listen to. Taking a large breath of salty sea air into his lungs and he felt as though he would have been able to fly. That was until Cid's voice rang out and ruined his moment. "Stephen, may i have a quick word?" he asked causing Stephen's eyes to bolt open and his head to glance around over his shoulder to look at him.

"of course you may Headmaster, would you like to have the conversation over here, i have to admit i am enjoying the peaceful sounds of the ocean, it's calming before a mission" Stephen explained before realising who he was talking to "or we could step inside headmaster, the choice is after all yours." Stephen added as he took a couple of steps over to the headmaster, picking his duffel up before he did so.

Headmaster Cid

"Please, Stephen, relax." Cid appreciated the nervousness of the young SeeD. It was a nice show of respect in a way, but Cid was not as concerned by formalities as he grew older in age. Other things seemed much more important.

"Stephen, I have something that I would like you to do for me. I am very aware of the covert skills you have at your disposal - it makes you very valuable to the team. I would like you to take these skills and put them into practice as soon as the party arrive in Esthar."

Cid took a breath and awkwardly rubbed the back of his head. He didn't want too many people thinking that he didn't trust Laguna but there was no avoiding that to some extent. Stephen was obviously going to realise this once Cid had finished his talk:

"Whilst I do not believe this mission to be dangerous in any way, I am somewhat dubious as to why Laguna and his team need to see SeeD so urgently. During the phone call he made to me, he seemed somewhat...off. I can't quite put my finger on it. This is why I need you. Upon arrival to Esthar I need you to gather some information, using your usual skills of course. Stay under the radar, and stay undetected. The rest of the team need not know about this, as I feel it could cause a feeling of unease throughout the party. Any questions?"

"Please, Stephen, relax." Cid appreciated to which Stephen smiled and gave a reply "of course headmaster" "Stephen, I have something that I would like you to do for me. I am very aware of the covert skills you have at your disposal - it makes you very valuable to the team. I would like you to take these skills and put them into practice as soon as the party arrive in Esthar." It was at this point that Stephen realised Cid's reasoning for him to go on this mission.

"So, you want me to Sneak into the president of Esthar's Mansion, only the most fortified building in Esthar, if not the entire world? Just on the fact of the President himself sounded a bit off to you over a telephone call?" Stephen questioned quietly while he contemplated "with all due respect Headmaster, i think the idea of sneaking into such a place would be a horrific idea as if the person who did this was to get caught, not only would he be imprisoned for the rest of his Existence, but it would most likely bring about a war between the faction in which that person was with, and Esthar, a war which nobody but Esthar could win." Stephen spoke quietly still as he thought about that which headmaster Cid had asked him to do.

"then it's kind of lucky you have the only person on the planet who is stupid enough to risk that." Stephen explained with a smirk as he looked towards Cid "I hope you know that anything i hear in there you won't be able to use against him in a public way, that's the bitch about getting intel illegally, but you already know this, so you don't intend to use it that way, which means you want to know what the president is up to. . . " Stephen paused for a moment "I'll do it" Stephen announced, his smirk bursting into a large smile "just for the fun. as i don't believe that the president will be hiding anything." Stephen informed Cid "so, how long until we reach Fisherman's horizon?" Stephen asked, the smile still on his face.

Headmaster Cid

"With all due respect Headmaster, i think the idea of sneaking into such a place would be a horrific idea as if the person who did this was to get caught, not only would he be imprisoned for the rest of his Existence, but it would most likely bring about a war between the faction in which that person was with, and Esthar, a war which nobody but Esthar could win."

Cid understood Stephens concerns, but still knew that he was the best man for this job.

"Then it's kind of lucky you have the only person on the planet who is stupid enough to risk that. I hope you know that anything i hear in there you won't be able to use against him in a public way, that's the bitch about getting intel illegally, but you already know this."

There was a slight air of arrogance about the young SeeD - It was needed in situations such as these though. Without self belief, SeeD would be nothing. Cid was relieved Stephen was willing to accept the task, even if he was given little choice. The comment on using information gathered in such a manor was not something of concern to Cid. This was not the first time he had been in a situation of mis-trust such as this so he knew how to play it. Although, it wasn't so much a case of using information against Laguna in a public way, far from it in fact. Sending Stephen on a recon mission such as this was more to ensure SeeD weren't walking into a dangerous situation, rather than outing Laguna as a corrupt fraud.

"so, how long until we reach Fisherman's horizon?" Asked Stephen.

"Why don't you see for yourself?" Cid replied, with a casual nod in the direction of Fisherman's Horizon.

Balamb Garden was now beginning to slow in order to dock at Fisherman's Horizon. They couldn't be more than a minute away. The workers of the small fishing village were gathering around the dock waiting to greet them, but also preparing to help The Garden dock safely.

Cid turned his attention from Fisherman's Horizon, back to Stephen: "I appreciate your willingness to perform this task. It is important to the safety of your colleagues, and yourself, that this is done quickly and quietly. Please, re-join the party now and prepare for your final briefing."

Stephen listened to what Cid had to say about him taking the mission, and Stephen smiled "Sir" Stephen announced with a nod. Stephen then picked up his duffel bag and went over to the other Seed, standing and looking towards the Headmaster and glancing around his fellow SeeD and then he pulled his phone out of his pocket, and began texting, Smiling as he did so, texting Seed friends, checking up to see how their missions were going, hoping that they were smart enough to hold out on replying until they were safe and out of the firing line. Well trained SeeD should know to be safe before doing anything.

Once Done Stephen slid his phone back into his pocket and awaited the final briefing.

Selphie Tilmitt
Balamb Garden SeeD Dorms

Selphie's eyes opened and she glanced at her alarm clock, noticing the time she lept out of bed "crud crud crud, im late" she screeched as she leapt up and got dressed in record time, brushing her hair and packing up a bag. slinging her bag over her shoulder and heading out of the dorms, running as fast as she could, stopping as she reached the main hall of garden "Nooooo I forgot Strange vision" she announced before running back to her room to grab her weapon. and turning back around, sprinting as fast as she can she continued screaming "I'm late, I'm late, I'm late" as She ran her phone beeped in her pocket and she pulled it out to check the message, It was from Stephen a fellow Seed she had had missions with since the Esthar incident. it read "Cid is about to give the final mission brief, you need to be here" Selphie began running as fast as she could "Noooooooo I'M LATE!!" she screeched as she approached the door, as it swung open she ran through it and ricocheted off of Stephen's back and landing on her butt.

Stumbling forward as Selphie bounced off of him, Stephen turned around and smiled, Extending his right hand to help her up, she took the offer and used the lift to get to her feet, Stephen also picked up Strange vision as he helped her up and handed it to her "your just in time" he whispered to her as he handed her the weapon and let go of her hand "oh thank god" she replied with a smile "thank you Stephen" she added with a slight blush as she took Strange vision from him.

Selphie and Stephen then turned to face Cid, Selphie coming out with "I apologise for my tardiness Headmaster" with a slight bow of her head.

Headmaster Cid

"Selphie, better late than never. Please take your place with the rest of the group."

Usually, Cid would be less than impressed with this kind of lateness, but now was not the time as Garden was about to dock at Fisherman's Horizon. There was now a good number of SeeD's and candidates for the trip to Esthar. In Cid's mind, he wanted to make sure there was ample support should the mission not turn out to be as innocent as Laguna was making it out to be.

"Everybody settle. Thank you for coming - you all know why you are here, but let me send you off properly. Your mission is to travel to Esthar and liaise with President Laguna. He has some interesting findings from Tear's Point that he would like to share with SeeD due to our involvement in the Lunar Cry. I am aware that not all of you experienced this event, but that is why you have the 'senior' SeeD's with you. You should reach Esthar by the end of today, pending the trains are running swiftly through Fisherman's Horizon. You are due at the Presidential Palace at 6pm tomorrow evening, giving you ample time."

Cid rearranged his tie and took a deep breathe. He hadn't given a mission briefing in a long time and was thoroughly enjoying it:

"Whilst this is not a dangerous mission I expect you to remain fully prepared for anything. Although, I am sure that you know this already. SeeD is a name known across the world, maintain it's honour. This is all I have to say. Once you leave Balamb Garden you will be fending for yourselves. Take Care."

With Cid's final word, Balamb Garden slowed to a halt and docked at Fisherman's Horizon. The journey from Balamb had come to end and SeeD's newest adventure was about to begin.

Kallen Akaurasu & Squall Leonhart

Kallen got up and brushed off her butt, looking around everyone seemed to be ready to walk off into Fishermans Horizon, this was her first time being in FH the garden has been here before but Kallen never had any interest in checking out the town until now.

"Well we should get moving if we're done waiting around Esthar is still a long distance away.."

Squall walks over to Kallen

"Relax... Esthar isn't going anywhere, this will be a long trip and we'll probably have to fight somewhere along the way."

Squall knew how long the road was since he walked it with Rinoa on his back the last time he went there, he knew all too well how dangerous that path to Esthar was.

"We'll go when everyones ready, we can't afford mistakes since we've no idea what that "Man" will do..."

Kallen turned her head in annoyance, She was already well aware of the dangers but sitting here chit chatting is just burning daylight.

"Fine..." She answered back.

Zell Dincht

Balamb Garden - Deck

As Headmaster Cid addressed the group, Zell couldn't help but feel somewhat nostalgic. He had missed Cid's subdued but effective talks - not hearing one for years.
Upon completion of the briefing Zell saluted Headmaster Cid, appreciative of the time taken out of his busy day. Zell had learnt through the years not to expect many hugs or handshakes before a mission, and to just get on with it as soon as possible. With that in mind he turned to face Fisherman's Horizon, took a deep breath of salty sea air, and walked forward onto the makeshift bridge made by the people of FH.

Fisherman's Horizon

The bridge reminded Zell of the 2nd Floor Walkway in Balamb Garden. He hated it. No support on either side, a cool breeze blowing in his face regardless of the direction he was facing, and lots of gravity.

"What a piece of crap. We have a Garden that flies, but don't have the technology to build a stable bridge."

He hadn't realised how loud the complaint was. Loud enough for the engineers of Fisherman's Horizon to hear, as they were at the other end of the bridge.
Zell's face was a mixture of embarrassment and hope that they somehow hadn't heard him whine.

"Hehe...Hey guys! Long time no see!" Zell nervously laughed to the engineers.

The conversation was greeted with icy glares and silence. It was obvious that they had heard Zell's comments and didn't appreciate the lack of respect for their hard work. Not bothered by Zell's presence, the people of Fisherman's Horizon continued to focus their attention on the remaining members of the party that hadn't crossed the makeshift bridge yet.

"Well, I guess I got away with it."

Zell's ability to put his foot in his mouth was almost legendary. Over the years it had only worsened. Knowing that he shouldn't proceed without the others, he decided to lean over a nearby metal rail. It provided a fantastic viewpoint of the whole village. A village full of humble fisherman and their families. In many ways it reminded Zell of home, and yet he couldn't help but think back to his previous visit. It wasn't one of leisure, but one that signalled the beginning of a hellish journey.

+It was so boring, such a drag. His nerves had subsided and now Kaine just wanted to get on with it. Of course, while Kaine attempted to mentally speed time up he didn‘t even notice Alex‘s sly little glance at him again. Kaine gave a silent sigh, and then began to playfully push his body up from the bar, and then back down. It wasn’t particularly tiring, but it was something to do. +

“Although… I would prefer it happen after the mission… Can’t be going AWOL now…heh….”

+What was going on in Kaine‘s mind was a near contrast to Alex‘s: His brain ran riot with pictures of training methods, of his different tactics for multiple situations. His focus narrowed down to potential improvements for Spitfire, his carry-awkward sword. Of course, the odd pin-up girl fluttered in without a trace, but it never really made an impact. What got Kaine going was his imagination: What would happen if this mission went awry? Perhaps some sort of quest, or a real assassination mission??! Kaine‘s interest in this displayed on his face- he half-grinned a silly smile of foreboding excitement. He couldn‘t wait! +

“Thank god for that… Fishy is always great to stay in…. Ever so often.”

+Kaine then turned his attention to Alex, flowing his line of sight to the other section of their mission-party. Of course, the usual were all there: Commander Squall, Zell the boy wonder, the teacher-lady… Nothing would have mattered, but Kaine saw Alex‘s fidgety movements- his messing with a bangle was so unlike the previous characteristics of Kaine‘s chat-buddy. Kaine‘s first instinct was to consider some sort of shyness, then another quick flash hit him: What if Alex had a crush on the instructor lady?? That could perhaps explain everything. Nevertheless, Kaine decided against mentioning it. +

+Especially, as Kaine‘s glance back at Alex displayed. His senior seemed to be digging into his own arm with his nails. Kaine took this as a sign of anger and as such, backed away ever so slightly. Kaine did this in a way so that Alex couldn’t notice it. He really didn‘t want to get on anybody‘s bad side, so he just stayed silent until he received another response. +

"...If you're a SeeD, you're not new, whatever your rank may be. You've seen combat already - you're experienced now, maybe not as much as some of us but you've got it. And Laguna is the President by title, though it seems he got almost full power."

“…Yeah. I guess you are right. I mean, the graduation exam was a real combat experience… Plus, that Training room can get pretty hectic at times…”

+Kaine replied, the slightest hint of a smile playing on his face. He had to stop playing up the self-conscious act, or else these people won‘t look at him with any sort of reliability. He then took a large inhalation of oxygen, as Fisherman‘s Horizon came into view. That salty smell felt so much more sweeter now. +

"We're supposed to be getting on a train once we get to FH. If you want to, you can join me in the cabin. It doesn't seem you do well in social situations - you've been talking with me this entire time,"

“Sure, Sure… I don’t mind joining you in your cabin. However, I’d prefer sometime alone before hand. Plus… I really have to get to know the rest of these people- my skills aren’t as bad as you suggest. I was just a little overwhelmed.”

+Kaine then dryly laughed, cutting it short as he looked over his shoulder, out at the sea. He was beginning to get his head set right. When finished, he could show his seniors what could really do! +

Mercy Kodashi - Fishermans Harbour

The view Mercy saw as she slowly headed off the garden was astounding, it had been a while since she had left the garden, what with having everything she required there she had seen no reason to leave. She did a few quick excercises as they were heading off without her. She wouldnt have done the excercises but she still hadnt fully woken up and she felt that she needed to psyche herself up. She headed across the bridge quickly and quietly. Not looking down and betraying her acrophobia.

She stood by the energetic fool that was zell.
"Hey zell, put your foot in it again huh?" of all the instructers she felt most comfortable with him. his antics always made her smile and she may possibly like him, but she has never concentrated on that part of herself in quite a while. She leant backwards against the bar having taken in the sights well enough for her liking. From her new position she could see the others walking towards her position, but she could also glance to see zells expression, hoping that her joking comment hadnt gone and upset him.

OOC: didn't realise how little i had missed, lets get on with it then shall we folks.

IC:
Stephen Hownam and Selphie Tilmitt
Balamb & Fisherman's horizon

Stephen and Selphie both listened carefully as Cid's briefing came to a close and both the young SeeD members saluted Cid, watching as the other people who were going on the mission to Esthar began crossing over to FH, "we going Selphie?" Stephen asked as Selphie nodded and then headed over the bridge followed closly by Stephen. they strode and looked around the view just outside FH, and then into the simple fishing village, Stephen couldn't help but remember segments of his childhood, playing with other children, he wasn't very old before he left here, but he had some small amount of memories from his childhood.

Stephen and Selphie saw the others gathering. "I say me and you should wait at the train for the others, from all the time we have spent together, i have learned you preffer being in solitude, and it would give us a good amount of time to relax, the trip to Esthar is very long" she explained, "ever been there?" she questioned Stephen to which he smirked "only once, i went in Search of answers" Stephen replied, before the two SeeD headed in the direction of the train station "hey guys, we are heading towards the Train" Stephen shouted to the other SeeD members. The pair headed Train station bound.

Arriving at the train station, they picked up their tickets and headed into the train, standing in the corridor Selphie started singing about how much she loved trains, causing Stephen to smirk. "you really do love trains hey" to which Selphie laughed "of course i do, i LOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEEE THEM!!!" she practically Screeched. causing Stephen to chuckle Before heading into the Cabin to take a seat and await the arrival of everybody Else.

Squall Leonhart & Kallen Akaurasu

"Well I think its about time we stopped wasting time on the Garden, Lets get a move on already! Kallen spoke bluntly to Squall before she ran off past the bridge

She ran past most of the others, she was as agile as ever the path was narrow but didn't run into anyone, she ran down to the Elevator and took it to the lower part of FH, once the elevator stopped she stepped off and jumped when the elevator operator went back up for the next person.

"Well now that I'm here I may as we--" Before she could finish her sentence she looked in awe over the beautiful sunlight glistening off the reflective panels surrounding the mayors home.

"Wow... I saw this in the files on FH but its really more beautiful than I imagined..." She walked to the stairs and just sat on the railing staring at the view.

----------------------------------------------------

"Damn it, she ran off on her own again..." Squall muttered to himself.

Kallen wasn't one to be so reckless but he guessed she was just excited to get to leave the Garden after being inside for so long. Squall Sighed and started walking off, the other members were on the bridge talking amongst each other, he just walked past them, them talking now would just mean it will be a quiet trip on the railroad.

As he walked toward the elevator he noticed the Mayors house, the first memory that came to mind was his "Promotion Party" he snickered at the thought of Irvine, Selphie, Quistis, and Zell Playing instruments so badly that time, and remembered his "Date" he shook his head free of those thoughts as he walked onto the elevator and took it down to the ground.

"FH Hasn't changed much..." He said to himself.

The elevator stops and the gate goes down, Squall walks forward and heads towards the mayors office, he sees Kallen sitting on the railing looking down at the mayors house, the sunlight seemed to glisten off the panels brightly today, instead of bothering her he walks off to the nearby train car and leans against it staring down at the panels with Kallen.

"Guess we'll wait here for the others..."
