[RP] Final Fantasy IX: Scars of Terra

Rior Laistan
Qu's Marsh

"Qu's Marsh in the Mist. Let's head north until we reach that Grotto. After we go though the Grotto, we are then within walking distance of Clerya. Woah!" The boy fell and Rior couldn't help but laugh at him. He was going to offer him some assistance by extending a hand but the boy jumped right to his feet quicker than expected.

"I'll be happy to get out of this marsh."

"Yep... I know what you mean" Rior agreed as they made their way through the shrubbery. Pickles and thorns getting stuck in his tail, he had to try and hide it under his sweater to prevent it from getting completely tangled.

As they walked there was a huge cracking sound, it sounded like a storm but it wasn't raining over here. The older Genome looked up. In the far distance there was...storm clouds, thunder and lightning. It was weird.

"Look at that, Lan." He said pointing to the sky. "It seems something interesting is happening right where we're headed!!" He was excited but little did he know there was an entire ship of people heading into that storm. "I knew this would be an awesome adventure!" He then rushed forwards trying to find the exit to this horrible muddy place.

Luckily for the boys the Qu's Marsh's weren't very big and they found their way out in no time and thank goodness for that. Rior couldn't handle seeing any more mud.

"Ok that grotto place it is!! We're making good time" He joked.

(ooc) I hope you don't mind that i am hurrying this along.

Alleria Stormseeker

The situation quickly became more chaotic than the ship can handle. This was definitely not some work of nature. It was... Far too intent on destruction. The bolts were definitely not hitting at random - they were focused on grounding the ship!

As if to confirm her fears, the bolts took shape.

Drawing her blade, Alleria was hesitating, wondering if she should attack. She did not have the luxury of time, however, as the bolts continued wrecking the ship. The ship may have been for the purpose of war, but such powerful attacks - from such a monster, no less - is just impossible.

Staring at Ixion in fear, the stories of how Kuja summoned Bahamut to annihilate Brahne's fleet surfaced. Here, something similar was happening.

Realizing it was not possible to take Ixion on, Alleria quickly moved into the rear of the ship. A bad move. As if on cue, Ixion blasted an orb of lightning that easily tore the ship apart. Stumbling from wall to wall, Alleria struggled to keep still, to no avail.

The ship was far too lost to be still - to be safe. With her sword drawn, Alleria plunged it into the wall, and started smashing the blade in as deeply as possible. The ship was losing altitude, and the next thing was what she was preparing for.

It didn't take long, as the vibrations became exaggerated. So strong, that her blade actually broke and she lost grip of it, falling out of the door. onto the deck - and eventually, the ground.

...

Sighing, she laid quietly on the cool, soft ground. The rain was still beating down, with the occasional thunder roar, as if a trumpet heralding a victory for some unknown force. Somberly pushing herself up, she felt a sharp pain at her left knee.

"Damn," She hissed, realizing that she must have bruised her knees very badly for it to hurt this much. Still, it wasn't as bad as it could have been without her battle dress. Thanking the Heavens, she limped away from the wreckage, hoping to find some survivors.

There were several Knights scattered about, all unmoving bodies. Gritting her teeth, Alleria cursed under her breath. Nevertheless, she quickly picked up a sheathed Broadsword from a deceased Knight, uttering a prayer under her breath.

Robert Crescent

Rain was to be expected, but lightning was rare in the Burmecia area, and never on this scale. But then things began to take a turn for the worse when the Eidolon Ixion appeared. With the chaos it caused among those aboard, there was no way he could efficiently fight it. But it made no sense. The only two Summoners he knew of were Garnet and Eiko, and neither one of them would do this. "Someone has a stone." he muttered to himself, remembering the stories of Brahne and Bahamut.

There was no time to react. Ixion destroyed a good portion of the ship, causing it to crash downwards. However, while many others would have a problem with heights, Robert did not. Once the altitude of the ship dropped to fifty feet from the ground, Robert hopped off to the ground below, aiming himself for one of the larger trees in the area to use to break his fall.

Fifty feet was the maximum height from which he could land safely provided he had something to help break his fall. As he neared the tree, he would use his lance to stab into the heart of the tree and use his lance like a pole. He spun himself around on the pole in order to start slowing the built up momentum of the fall until gravity finally slowed his acrobatic swinging down. Placing one foot onto a branch, he pulled the lance out and jumped down to the ground.

He could see the smoke from the wreckage and used that as a marker. He could only hope everyone was still alive.

When he arrived he saw two of the females from the ship limping around. One was Anne, while the other was the woman he saw challenge her to a duel. He quickly headed over towards the ship. "You all alright?" Robert called out, hoping to attract their attention to him so people would have a gathering point. He saw several dead bodies around the wreckage, including that of the general.

"Burmecia is the closest location to here. We should find as many survivors as we can and head over there. From there we can plan out what to do next. There's no doubt in my mind that was an attack from Olivert, and if they have more than just that Eidolon on their side, then we need to act fast to warn Burmecia and from there make our way to Cleyra. With any luck, we can still make it to Cleyra before it's too late." Robert spoke as he got close enough to the two ladies. He could see they were both injured due to their limping. He was the only one still in good shape, so he needed to be on guard in order to defend the others in case that monster or its master came back, or in case any wild animals decided to try and turn them into a meal.

Ricard Fairne

As the ship entered Burmecian Territory Ricard resurfaced onto the ship's Deck, the unstoppable rain gave him a certain level of calm as he walked over to the helm of the ship, taking in the view of Burmecia, in just 17 years it had changed from a ruin to a strong city, a very admirable achievement considering all the pain they suffered at the hands of Brahne when she nearly brought them to extinction.

Looking across the plains he could barely make out Cleyra across it's desert, though something attracted his attention, he noticed a small blue ball of light which quickly turned into thunderbolts... Going upward?

Ricard instantly knew something was amiss, which was confirmed as the ship got caught in a lightning storm and he caught a vague glimpse of a horse with a hook shaped horn, if this was an Eidolon rather than a monster it was one he had never heard of in his travels. Turning around he saw the ship easily getting engulfed in flame as it began to lose it's ascension and crashed into the Burmecian mountains.

Ricard, like everyone on board was hurled off the ship from the impact, thankfully Ricard was covered head to toe in his Pluto Knight's armour which was also too large for him, leaving him relatively unscathed. His armour however took a fair bit of damage.

As the dust settled around the crash site, Ricard got back up to his feet, both his swords were still in their place thankfully so he began to look around for survivors, all his Pluto Knight Brothers-In-Arms had died on impact, or killed by Ixion's lightning. Looking up, the 'storm' had ceased which confirmed his thoughts that Ixion was an Eidolon, which also meant that they could come under attack by the enemy at any time now.

Nearby he noticed the egotistical knight from earlier looking over the Pluto Knights, Ricard walked over to her, right now it was best they gather together in one point. "It seems we both made it at least, for now we should begin looking for survivors and then head to Burmecia. In my opinion we're in no condition to go to Cleyra, we'd be best recovering our strength and heading back to Alexandria on foot. With our few numbers we'd just be getting ourselves killed going to Cleyra, especially if they have summon magic"

Finishing this he began to walk to the opposite side of the ship, for now however he could find nothing but corpses, he wished he could bury them but time and the current ground were against it.

Lan Ester: Qu's Marsh of the Mist

"Look at that, Lan. It seems something interesting is happening right where we're headed!!"

Lan looked up at the sky. It was true. A thunderstorm was brewing and from the looks of it, it was almost unnatural. Lan shivered, somehow feeling that something bad happened in those storms.

"I don't like the look of that. Let's hurry on to Clerya. The Grotto is just about there." Lan muttered pointing out a cave in the mountainside with his cat clawed hand.

He took off running towards the Grotto with Rior following behind. Soon enough, Gizamluke's Grotto loomed in front of them. Lan sighed.

"Here we are. After we go through here, we are walking distance away from both
Burmieca and Clerya." Lan muttered as he looked around for any signs of monsters while entering the cave.

OCC: I hurried us along squid so we can join up with the knights XD Hope you don't mind.

As Stephen stood in the rain of Buremacia, he was Enjoying the rain, when he took note of the Airship in the Distance, it held the crest of Alexandria, then thunder began hitting it, an Stephen realised it wasn't random thunderbolts, then a flash from Valefore. "It's an Eidolin" Stephen shouted as he began sprinting towards the falling Airship. ~Damnit, Eidolin, thunder, It has to be Ramuh" Stephen announced as he moved as fast as he could.

He wasn't fast enough to get there and help, the Airship crash landed. Causing Stephen to stop in his tracks, he shook his head and returned to sprinting, climbing up to the Airship as soon as he could he looked around the wreckage "IS ANYONE ALIVE, CAN YOU HEAR ME???" Stephen screeched through the wreckage as he looked around praying that somebody was alive as he looked through the Wreckage.

"please, somebody has to be alive" Stephen added as he fell to his knee's

OOC: To be fair, Ravness and Dredd, no one is supposed to know of who Ixion is as of yet. That summon will play a part in the role of the story, but no one knows who Ixion is. At least not by name.

IC:

As Anne reached the ruins of the Enterprise, she saw corpses strewn across parts of the ship. Some were in pieces, others were crushed. It was a sickening sight. Even more so when she saw the bodies of Jeanne and Maria on the ground, their eyes opened, but were so lifeless.

Tears welled up in Anne's eyes as she limped and finally knelt down by her deceased comrades. She closed both Jeanne's and Maria's eyes and silently did a prayer for the two of them.

"You all alright?"

Anne looked up a bit wide looking around. It was there that she saw Robert, alive and unscathed. Slowly getting herself off the ground, she said, "I'm-I'm fine."

With any luck, we can still make it to Cleyra before it's too late."

But Ricard, who came nearby shortly after Robert came gave a bit of a rebuttal.

While both Robert and Ricard suggested that they rest at Burmecia, one wanted to go to Cleyra, the other back to Alexandria. If only General Gisale were here...but where was the General. Did she survive the crash?

"Guys...W-Where is the General?" Annelise asked. If she was still conscious, maybe she could make the decision we would all follow.

As the question was about to be answered, a voice was heard over the distance. "IS ANYONE ALIVE, CAN YOU HEAR ME???"

Anne didn't respond, she was too exhausted to really do much, hopefully she could support others in getting down the mountain, tend to the injured and hopefully get out of this dreadful place.

Alleria Stormseeker

There was no words to explain how Alleria felt about Annelise surviving. All this, right after they exchanged words to each other about staying alive. By surviving this episode, Alleria knew that at least, her dream victory would come at some point. She didn't have to win immediately. She just had to win - now or later.

Nevertheless, that was not her utmost concern at this point in time. A Burmercian Dragon Knight, apparently an acquaintance of Annelise, as observed on the deck earlier, approached the two. His suggestion was a wise one, and one that Alleria strongly agreed with.

The last thing she needed was to packed her bags - not so literally in this case - and return to Ipsen via Alexandria. Even with her ability to emerge as the top swordswoman in Ipsen will not save her from disgrace. Which was why Alleria was vehement in her protests against Ricard's subsequent suggestion.

"I'm for going to Burmercia. We were here on a mission, and we ought to fulfill it. More so now that it's clearly the closer to us than Alexandria."

"IS ANYONE ALIVE, CAN YOU HEAR ME???"

Startled by the sudden screech, Alleria glanced around the wreckage. Turning to look over to the other knights, two of whom Alleria did not know by name, she said,"Well, I'm not sure where the General might be. Some people may well be flung further than us. Maybe the General is alive elsewhere, but for now, we should move on."

[OOC: Ninja'd! I didn't actually mean for her to 'know' the Eidolon - which was also why I chose to refer to it as a 'monster'. I used Ixion just to prevent any confusion as to who I might be referring to. I'll avoid such usage in future.]

Stephen saw nothing on the deck, well from what he could see, so he decided to venture into the ship, and took the first door he came to, looking around he could see only dead crew members, the people who kept the ship in the air, mostly Engineers and mechanics, this attack was devastating, the only reason an Eidolin would do something like this is if a summoner told him to, and the only person who would attack an Alexandrian Airship is the Forces Advancing on Cleyra. "so they have summoners" Stephen announced to himself as he moved down the corridor.

as he looked around he saw a Broadsword on the Floor, it looked like someone had cared for it very well, and it didn't look like a regular soldiers sword. "must have belonged to a higher up" Stephen muttered as he lifted it up and looked at it, I shall take this with me. Stephen announced, looking around he could see nobody, so he headed out of the ship's interior and headed down the deck when he got to what was left of the front of the ship and saw a group of people nearby "hey, you guys all right?" Stephen shouted as he left the ship and walked over to them, with the Broadsword in hand. "what happened to you guys, was it Ramuh who attack you?" Stephen asked

Robert Crescent

"If you want to return to Alexandria, then you can do so once we reach Burmecia. However, I'm still going to go to Cleyra after I get back home to advise King Puck on our situation. Even if the battle is hopeless, we need to evacuate Cleyra. I won't let thousands of innocents be murdered like what happened 17 years ago." Robert spoke back to the one who suggested they tuck tails and not complete the mission.

Robert turned his attention to the newest person who arrived. He certainly didn't look like one of the other crewmen, and the suggestion of Ramuh was close, but certainly off. Robert had his suspicions, but first he would address the man. "No. Ramuh only serves Queen Garnet. What attacked us was a unicorn-like horse which commanded lightning. Now then, I must ask who you are and why you are here. Your timing does cast an air of suspicion onto you." Robert spoke before he then turned once again to Annelis.

"I'm sorry, Anne. From what I saw, the general took a direct hit from that Eidolon. I very much doubt that the general survived." he spoke to her in a more somber tone of voice. "From the looks of it, we're the only survivors. While I would like to give those who died here a proper burial, we still have a mission to carry out. Once we alert King Puck of what happened to us, Burmecia will be ready with their steam-powered weaponry and have the resident Black Mages ready to deal with the summons." Robert spoke. The Black Mages that Robert referred to were the longer-lived Black Mages that Vivi created before passing away. Some of his 'children' moved to Burmecia as honored friends of King Puck, and from there created a small factory to create clones of themselves. They all had free will and were on friendly terms with the Burmecian people.

Nodin Radley woke up in the snow. Lying on his back, he stared at the sky, ignoring the rain that kept falling on him.

Where am I?

He took no pride in the fact he had been drinking. It didn't happen often, but it happened nonetheless. He was a hunter, and hunters are competitors. Each time he'd managed to surpass himself by felling a rare beast, he would celebrate. This time he had only made one mistake: he went to Treno. Some of the people he had met in his lifetime always told him not to drink from the expensive purple bottles the bartenders in Treno tend to offer to clueless patrons, and especially not to take a sip from the pitch black ones the shady figures sell within the city's darkest bowels. Unfortunately, Nodin had done both.

He had no idea how he had ended up here. Is this Treno? Is this the Mist Continent? Is this Gaia at all? Am I even alive?

As he sat up, he had already forgotten what caused him to awaken in the first place: there was a loud crash coming from about a mile away. Then he remembered it again, and got up. As his somewhat blurry vision traced the surroundings, he noticed the lightning in the sky. That wasn't normal. Then his sight was fixed on the massive trail of smoke coming from the ground. That wasn't normal either. There must be people in danger. He began to run towards it, even though it made him sick to his stomach.

As he arrived on the premises, he noticed corpses on the ground. What's happening here? These are Pluto Knights. Alexandrians. And pieces of Alexandrians. One thing confirmed: I'm not in heaven. He then saw a purple-haired woman, a Burmecian knight and a few other figures gathering a few dozen feet away from him. They hadn't noticed him yet. Who are these people? Did they do this? What's that pile of burning wood?

In frustration, he shouted to them.

"Someone mind telling me what the hell's going on?!"

"No. Ramuh only serves Queen Garnet. What attacked us was a unicorn-like horse which commanded lightning. Now then, I must ask who you are and why you are here. Your timing does cast an air of suspicion onto you." was announced from the Buremacian causing Stephen to smirk "do i honestly look like i have the ability to summon such a creature?" Stephen questioned knowing full well his personal capabilities, and knowing these knights didn't.

Stephen then extended the sword the the girl in the Knights armour "I came to offer my assistance, I am Stephen Hownam, but most know me as Lindblum's travelling Monk" Stephen explained "I help those in need, and if it is a burial you wish for your fallen comrades, perhaps a cremation will suffice" Stephen mentioned "you could use the remains of your ship to fuel the fire, and perhaps a mages Fire spell or one of the cindering chunks to begin the fire" Stephen added trying not to sound insensitive.

Robert Crescent

Robert didn't flinch when the guy asked him if he looked like a summoner. "Queen Brahne wasn't born a summoner and she called forth Bahamut. All it takes is a stone and the knowledge of how to unlock it's power. Whoever attacked the ship might have ground forces to ensure no one survives. However, I will take you at your word. I am Robert Crescent, Dragon Knight of Burmecia. Right now these two ladies are injured. I will need help to escort them to Burmecia so they can be treated and I can make my report to King Puck." Robert explained calmly.

He then looked over to the man who shouted. It seemed the crash site was going to be a hotbed of activity, which meant if the attackers wanted to silence anyone and everyone around the crash site, innocent lives would be in danger. "No real time to explain. This isn't a safe area. If you want to follow us to Burmecia, you are welcome to join us along with this fellow, otherwise it'd best be if you didn't dwaddle around here." Robert replied to the man. The group needed to get a move on before they brought any unwanted attention their way. The longer they stayed, the greater the danger to Cleyra and Burmecia. Robert wasn't about to let history repeat itself and leave Burmecia in the dark about a potential threat.

He walked over to Annelis and offered her his arm. "Here, you can lean on me until we get there if you need to take some weight off of your leg." he spoke.

Rior Laistan

The two boys made it to the Grotto and they entered. It was cold and dreary and grey inside. It looked quite gloomy and even a little spooky. Rior found himself feeling a little scared.

He'd heard about monsters that lived in here, they were strong, some could even turn you to stone. He gulped. Hopefully they'd manage to sneak past any thing like that.

The walls were decorated with old paintings, it looked like this place was once a kingdom or a town or something.

"It sure is creepy in here..." He muttered to the other as they walked through, their feet making the softest of sounds against the cold stone flooring. "I wonder what this place used to be..."

Rior was really just making conversation to keep his nerves down. It wasn't really working. Specially when every now and again you'd hear the cry of a Lamina

"How long til we get out of here??" He eventually asked, hand on his sword ready to pull it from its sheath if anything tried to jump out at them

(OOC) Blergh, short shit post

Lan Ester: Inside the Grotto.

"How long til we get out of here??"

Lan smiled a bit as he looked around himself. "You asked the wrong person that question. Weapons out just in case." Lan answered as he pulled out his Claws.

Walking through the grotto was interesting for Lan. It was like the grotto was the gateway to Clerya as the pair ran through the grotto. Eventually the pair reached the other side of the grotto as the rain poured hard on them.

Lan sighed after that rush through the grotto. "Let's hope we don't meet anything nasty." Lan muttered as he spots Burmecia. Smiling, Lan looks around from the city to the mountain range as he then spots several figures upon the mountain top.

"Ri, we got company." Lan muttered as his voice became serious while he tighten the claws close to his hand looking at the figures on the mountain.

OCC: just sped us up to prepare for the knights and the genome pair meetup squiddy

Rior Laistan

It took a little while but the two boys made it out of the grotto without running into anything nasty either. Rior was quite thankful for this as he was not skilled enough to take on anything in there just yet.

"Ri, we got company."

Rior bumped into the boy who'd suddenly stopped and he looked up towards where he was pointing. There were indeed a few people up there... good or bad? He couldn't be sure, but now was as good a time as any to go up to them and see what was going on... they were on an adventure after all.

He placed his hand on his Grimsilver as he walked towards the group. The first thing he noticed was the airship wreckage behind them. It was a disaster zone, they must have recently crashed as there were bodies everywhere.

Next he noticed the people.

There were two girls, one... another Genome? But she looked different. There was a Burmecian male and another couple of men... there were about 6 people in total.

"A-are you guys ok?" He gulped, hand tightening on his sword. "You look like you could use some help?" Rior hoped his hadn't interrupted anything. "My name is Rior, I am from the Black Mage Village on the outer continent.. My pal Lan and I mean you no harm unless you mean to harm us."

He then paused as he looked over the wreckage once more. "So uhm... what happened here??"

Lan Ester

Following Rior somewhat closely, he sees the dead bodies scattered about just as much as the ruins of the airship. After looking at the disaster site, he then eyes the figures. The figures sharped into two girls, another genome, a Burecian or Cleryian male, and another guy with them. It seem as if they were injured. But looks can be deceiving and for all Lan knows, he and Rior could be walking right to the enemy.

"A-are you guys ok? You look like you could use some help? My name is Rior, I am from the Black Mage Village on the outer continent.. My pal Lan and I mean you no harm unless you mean to harm us."

Lan kept his eye on the group as he somewhat eased up as he lowered his claws a bit but never completely down. "I'm Lan. The son of the third Angel of Death and sister to Zidane Tribal, Mikoto. Are you guys warriors from Alexendria?" Lan asked staring at one of the women, a brown haired girl with blue eyes.

(OCC: I'm thinking that Mikoto would have told Lan that she is an angel of death at one point in his life.)

Before Ricard could reply to the others, he found that a small group of travellers had started gathering around the crash site, with this much attention being drawn it was wise to get out of here as soon as possible, while probably unnecessary, he kept up his guard around them, unlike the initial company he couldn't easily trust these strangers.

Unsheathing his Iron Sword and pointing it at the boy who identified himself as a descendant of the Angels of Death Ricard started to address him. "regardless of your identities what reason do we have to believe you're not simply stalling us? As you can clearly see this crash was no accident and the cause of this is no doubt approaching us. Unless you plan to join the rest of the deceased here i'd advise you leave us, this is no business of travellers we can barely trust not to put a knife in our backs"

Turning back to the group he resumed their discussion "So, at the very least we can agree that our next destination is Burmecia, we can discuss our next target once we're there and out of danger. Now while we have a chance of surviving this I suggest we leave before the enemy surrounds us"

Lan Ester

It was not a good sight when one of the knights pulled his sword and pointed it at him. Lan pointed his claws back at the man.

"Regardless of your identities what reason do we have to believe you're not simply stalling us?"

"You don't have a reason. But will that stop you from receiving aid when it comes?" Lan muttered looking at Ricard.

"As you can clearly see this crash was no accident and the cause of this is no doubt approaching us. Unless you plan to join the rest of the deceased here I'd advise you leave us, this is no business of travelers we can barely trust not to put a knife in our backs."

"And yet you are continuing on with what little aid you have. Come on Rior. These 'knights' know what they are doing. Let's get to Burmieca, restock and head to Clerya. I heard that the food there is great and they are in need of aid." Lan muttered
turning around.

Just before he started to take his first step, Lan decided to at least give the brown haired girl something for aid. Opening his pack and pulling out three potions, Lan tossed the potions to her.

"Here miss brown haired knight. Out of the knights here, you look like someone who would do better in the leader position and you are not that bad looking youself. I'll expect you to pay me back for those potions soon enough." Lan muttered as he walked away from the knights toward Burmecia.
