[RP] Final Fantasy IX: Scars of Terra

As Lucia looked up at Gisale's face and smiled, it was quickly removed as Gisale's expression dropped.

"I...I just...don't know."

Lucia felt her happiness shatter in an instance, did she do something wrong? What was it that displeased Gisale? As she sat down Lucia rushed towards her, landing on her knees as she held on to her legs "What is it I did wrong? Have I upset you? I can change! Anything for you!"

Lucia felt she was losing one of the few people that mattered to her and she had no idea how to set things right, wrapping her arms around Gisale's legs she pulled them tightly to her chest, she didn't want to let go after so long of being empty and alone. She could feel her heartbeat rapidly increasing in beats as her tears dropped to the floor.

"Please, just tell me what I can do to change, I want to be with you! Nobody else! I don't know what i'll do if you leave me again!" Lucia was getting desperate, the more the seconds went by the more she felt she was losing Gisale, she didn't want to let go, not for anything.

Lan Ester

"NO, YOU'RE LYING!!!!"

Lan cringed as Anne screamed at him. The next thing he knew, he was shoved aside as Anne ran from him. Getting back up to his feet, Lan started to run after Anne.

"Great job Lan. All you just did was make things worse." Lan cursed as he followed Anne, who he lost sight of. Soon enough, Lan saw Twin Swords as she tried to stop someone.

"Hey wait a minute!!!"

Lan looked at the aircab just in time to see Anne go somewhere into the city.

"Oh joy. I now really regret even mentioning Brandish and Giasle in the same line. I knew she would not take this well, but this is not the reaction I expected." Lan muttered while kicking the ground.

-------
Remilia Oveilia

Eventually, Remilia reached the guest lobby of Lindblum. The area looked great for a place that guest sleep in.

"This is a great place." Remilia exclaimed before she heard another voice.

"What a pain.I wanted to enter but I don't even know where the sign up place is..."

Following the voice, Remilia soon saw Aaron's back as she walked up to the guy and ran a finger on his neck.

"Whatcha looking at?"

Aaron Sohm

As he was walking up the steps he felt someone touch his neck with a finger after which he heard someone speak."Whatcha looking at?"Turning fast he see's the summoner from before.

"Oh it's you..Remilia was it?As for looking at I was just looking for someone in the group who might know where the sign-up is for the Festival of the Hunt,I'd like to enter before the deadline is past.He rubbed the back of his neck nervously smiling.

General Gisale

"What is it I did wrong? Have I upset you? I can change! Anything for you!"

The way Lucia was acting, even grabbing at her leg made Gisale both uneasy and uncomfortable. As much as she wanted Lucia by her side, she did not want her to suffer alongside her for her mistakes of her past. She had to go it alone, to bear the pain, the suffering and the grief alone.

"Please, just tell me what I can do to change, I want to be with you! Nobody else! I don't know what i'll do if you leave me again!"

Removing Lucia's grip from her leg, Gisale stood up. "Don't change...Please...don't change." Gisale finally said, grasping Lucia's shoulder. "I just...I just need to do this alone. I'm sorry..." With that the Lord-General turned and left the Theater. seeing her again did not make her comfortable, in fact it brought up ghosts of the past that she wanted to simply go away. She was going to have a hand in doing something terrible, something that she knew would put her in a similar light to Kuja...Kuja...the man responsible for the death and destruction across both Gaia and her home world of Terra. Was it really worth all of this?
----
The Twinsword

"Oh joy. I now really regret even mentioning Brandish and Giasle in the same line. I knew she would not take this well, but this is not the reaction I expected."

"Gisale...?" Twinsword said looking back at Lan. "So you've met the Brandish then." Twinsword knew of the Brandish from back then. It was her and Cyril that saved her during the Oeilvert Civil War, and she was there when Gisale created the Lord-Generalate four years ago after her training was complete. She knew much about the six lord-generals. They had abandoned their names, more or less in an attempt to escape from their pasts. That was how she wound up with the name "Twinsword" even though it was technically not her real name.
----
Atalanta Palaiologos

As the tall pink-haired female walked down the streets of the Theater district in Lindblum, she heard some crying coming from a theater inside. She had seen a white haired female leave just a second ago, could someone be still there inside that she left behind? This was something she had to find out for herself as she started walking inside the theater.
----
Annelise Steiner

Anne departed the aircab, trying to hold back tears of sadness as she ran out of the Aircab station and out of Lindblum together. Eventually she found herself near the base of the Pinnacle Rocks, where she hid herself in the trunk of a tree. The sole thought that was in her head was "Gisale wouldn't betray us, she couldn't! It has to be a lie. It just has to be!" The frustration of it all was enough to make the Alexandrian Knight sob in her hands, unknown to her that there was someone already in the forests within.

Hearing the sound of crying, Ricard postponed his return to Lindblum, assuming someone to be hurt he followed the sound. Eventually his search led him to Pinnacle Rocks, what was a civilian doing here? Spotting a Bomb in the direction of the tears, most likely attracted to the sound he ran up and cut it cleanly in two before landing before the origin of the crying.

"Annelise? What's the matter? Are you hurt?"

Ricard approached her, gently holding her arms to show her tears "Are you okay? What happened to you?"

Ricard felt oddly protective of Annelise in this emotional state, gently he wiped the tears from her eyes as he pulled her into an embrace "Don't cry, try to calm down and tell me what happened"

----------------------------------

As Lucia had her hands forced from Gisale's legs, Lucia fell back in shock, was Gisale rejecting her? Would she have to see the back of her a second time?

"Don't change...Please...don't change." Gisale finally said, grasping Lucia's shoulder. "I just...I just need to do this alone. I'm sorry..."

As Gisale left the dark theater Lucia began to scream out loud "Why can't I help you? Why do I always get left behind?! Why?!"

Lucia then slammed her fists into the floor as the tears began to fall over and over "Why am I always left alone? Why can't I have anyone...?"

-----------------------------------------

Entering the air cab bound for Lindblum Grand Castle, Vanessa silently seated herself and waited to arrive, holding her hands together around her legs as she sat up on the seat with her head down. Once the air cab reached it's destination Vanessa slowly walked out, head kept down as she walked down the steps one at a time.

"Now where is the s-sign up sheet" Vanessa thought aloud once she reached the bottom of the stairs. Being told not to talk to any strangers Vanessa couldn't ask anyone as she looked around, not looking up however she quickly bumped into a girl dressed in blue who looked only a few years older than her, as she fell back on her bottom.

"Ow... Sorry"

Vanessa slowly got up and brushed herself down before lightly bowing her head in apology, she then started walking off as quickly as she could before she could be yelled at, though a rather slow pace for how short her legs were.

Lan Ester

"Gisale...? So you've met the Brandish then."

"Yeah. The cab won't be back for a while and by then, Anne will be long gone. I say let's leave her alone. Lindblum is the only city in the area, so if she gets hungry, she'll have to come back." Lan muttered as he sighed.

"Ow... Sorry"

Lan saw a girl bump into Twin Swords. The girl looked short as she bowed to Twin Swords and walked away.

"Hmm, hey girl, are you looking for something?" Lan called out.
-----------
Remilia Oveilia

"Oh it's you..Remilia was it?As for looking at I was just looking for someone in the group who might know where the sign-up is for the Festival of the Hunt,I'd like to enter before the deadline is past."

Remilia nodded as Aaron explained his predicament.

"Why don't you talk to a guard and ask them to sign you up? That would be logical or find Eiko. She was still with the main group when I left." Remilia muttered as she walked pass Aaron and into the guest bedroom.

Aaron Sohm

"Guard or Princess Eiko...I don't have too much faith in guard's,so I guess I'll see if I can find the Princess...The Main group was at the Dock's still so maybe they're still there..Anyways thanks Remilia!!"He yelled to the summoner before running down the steps and back to the Airship dock hoping the others are still there.

He see's Robert and a few of the others in the dock and run's up to them."Huff..Huff...I completely forgot to stick with you to sign up for the Festival...It's not too late is it?!"He said whilst catching his breath.

((OOC:I'm hoping they're still at the dock lol))

As Vanessa continued to walk away to avoid any confrontation she heard a voice that made her freeze to the spot.

"Hmm, hey girl, are you looking for something?"

"A m-m-man" Vanessa trembled as she silently spoke. She then turned around suddenly, covering her face with her arms "P-please don't hurt me!" she continued to back away as she said this, falling over onto her bottom again as she shuffled away, trying to avoid eye contact. Looking to the girl she previously bumped in to she called out to her as loudly as she could with her quiet voice "H-Help!"

Freya Crescent
Sir Fratley

Freya chuckled a bit as she listened to Zidane and Garnet talk. "Well now, this is a switch. Garnet's the confident one now and Zidane's the worry-wort." Freya teased. "She is right, Zidane. We've been through worse. Cleyra may be occupied, but Burmecia decimated the troops they sent against us. All three nations are a lot better prepared than we all were during the Brahne war when virtually no one really knew what was going on, and we were all fighting in the dark. Now we have open lines of communication, and we have a good idea of what to expect and possible strategies of the enemy. And most importantly, we know what the enemy is after. Their motives may not be clear, but their current objective is." Freya explained.

*******************

"We'll have to keep our eyes peeled for whatever they decide to send at Alexandria. Both your daughter and my son are in Lindblum. No doubt they've already alerted Regent Cid and Princess Eiko and informed them of the enemy's capabilities from what they experienced during the Burmecian defense. And we know what Oielvert's after, which means it's only a matter of keeping what they want out of their clutches until an opportunity arises for the three nations to launch a counter-strike, drive them out of the Mist continent, and then go on the offensive." Fratley spoke calmly to Beatrix.

Annelise Steiner

"Annelise? What's the matter? Are you hurt?
Are you okay? What happened to you?"

"Ricard..." Anne looked up at the Pluto Knight, sniffling a bit as she moved to dry her face of tears. Seeing him pull her into a hug, she started to feel a little better.

"Don't cry, try to calm down and tell me what happened"

"I'm just...sad. I think..."
Anne said hesitantly, trying to tell Ricard what she heard from Lan. "I think...Gisale betrayed us."

----
Atalanta Palaiologos

"Why can't I help you? Why do I always get left behind?! Why?!"

Atalanta heard the voices coming from the theater as she began walking towards the stage.

"Why am I always left alone? Why can't I have anyone...?"

"Hey! Someone's gotta pay for that too you know." Atalanta said, crossing her arms. She jested a bit but she knew that the girl was hurting inside. Walking up to the woman, she began to look at her closely, wiping some of the tears off her face. "What got you so glum?"
----
The Twinsword

"Yeah. The cab won't be back for a while and by then, Anne will be long gone. I say let's leave her alone. Lindblum is the only city in the area, so if she gets hungry, she'll have to come back."

"Well I guess so. She must've been pretty close to Annelise for her to be acting like that."

While she was about to turn around she ran into a very young girl who bumped into her.

"Ow... Sorry"

Twinsword watched her pick herself up and fix her dress then bow down a bit and walk away, at least until Lan moved in.

"Hmm, hey girl, are you looking for something?"

"A m-m-man
P-please don't hurt me!"

Twinsword looked as the girl as she backed away from Lan, tripping and falling back as she slid away to her direction. "H-Help!"

Twinsword walked up in between the two, extending her hand to help the girl up. She smiled a bit. "Oh don't worry about the Green guy over there. He's an ol' soft serve. He can't even hurt a fly." She wanted to put the girl at ease, as she said "My name is Twinsword, what's yours?"

----
Beatrix Steiner

"We'll have to keep our eyes peeled for whatever they decide to send at Alexandria. Both your daughter and my son are in Lindblum. No doubt they've already alerted Regent Cid and Princess Eiko and informed them of the enemy's capabilities from what they experienced during the Burmecian defense. And we know what Oielvert's after, which means it's only a matter of keeping what they want out of their clutches until an opportunity arises for the three nations to launch a counter-strike, drive them out of the Mist continent, and then go on the offensive."

"Well I hope so. The sooner we can do this, the sooner the war will end in short order. With the situation as it is." Beatrix saw that the sun was setting soon. "I shall be heading back home to Port Iifa. Steiner and I are doing what we can to train a militia to resist any potential invasion of the Outer Continent. If we do not know what Cyril intentions are, we can surely assume that anywhere and everywhere could be a target to him for all we know."

----
King Zidane of Alexandria

"Well now, this is a switch. Garnet's the confident one now and Zidane's the worry-wort. She is right, Zidane. Their motives may not be clear, but their current objective is."

Zidane simply nodded, before saying, "Alright...I've been spending the last few days in contact with Cid, Puck and Mikoto. Cid's also been talking with the Doge of Daguerreo about the forming a coalition against Oeilvert. If it works, we may be able to get the upper hand in the war. I'm hopeful it'll help contain them."

"I'm just...sad. I think... I think...Gisale betrayed us."

Unsure of how to react to this, Ricard kept a hold of Annelise "I assume you must be certain of this, with the loyalty you have towards her" Ricard then slightly tightened his hold "But no matter who our enemies are, I will still keep you safe from them, no matter what"

Ricard then looked into Annelise's eyes before gently wiping away a tear "Even if Gisale appeared before us now, I would not let her harm you while I still drew breath" with that said he gently kissed her forehead.

----------------------------------------

"What got you so glum?"

Lucia looked up to see a tall woman before her, Lucia looked away almost instantly, right now she didn't want to talk to anyone "Please, just leave me alone, I have nothing left for myself now, not even friends"

Lucia sniffed a bit before dragging herself to her feet and turning her back to the woman who, even with Lucia standing still towered over her. Not wanting to look at her she started to walk away, her head still facing the floor as she fought to not cry while the woman was present, she had to compose herself before the others found her.

"Please don't follow me, I don't deserve it..."

------------------------------------

"Oh don't worry about the Green guy over there. He's an ol' soft serve. He can't even hurt a fly."

"B-b-but he..." Vanessa couldn't put into words why she was so scared of the man, instead she instinctively clung to the blue woman's torso, trying to hide herself behind her.

"K-keep me safe"

Lan Ester

Lan was, at the very least, getting annoyed at the girl's reaction to him. Lan turned around to head back to the castle.

"Just remember, I will be in the attacking side when the mission start. Also tell Anne this. I only said that Brandish is Gisale. I never said anything about Gisale betraying Alexandria. She is only a traitor to Oeilvert." Lan muttered as he walked toward the castle.

--------
Lan Ester and Remilia Oveilia

Soon enough, Lan reached the guest room as he saw Remilia standing there.

"What's wrong?" Lan asked.

Remilia turned around to see Lan.

"It's nothing much. I'm just thinking a bit." Remilia said.

"Going to try the beds here" Lan asked looking at the beds, then over to Remilia.

"Yeah. I didn't get a good sleep while over at Burmecia. I wanted to see if sleeping here gives me three years of rest. Why are you asking?" Remilia asked.

Lan sighed as he looked at Remilia.

"I just got some stress and I need some way to get rid of it. You don't mind having a match with me?" Lan asked.

"As long as I get to use my summons." Remilia pointed out.

"Deal. Let's head out to the aircab area. I'll let the guards know about the mock battle." Lan said.

One guard talk and walking later, Remilia and Lan soon reached the aircab area where Remilia saw Twin Swords and a little girl there. She also noticed that Lan was annoyed when he saw the girl.

"Did the little girl say something wrong to you?" Remilia asked.

"It's nothing. Twin Swords, little girl, step back. Remilia and I are going to have a sparring match." Lan muttered as he walked to a side opposite of the girls. Remilia took up position in front of Twin swords and the little girl.

"Let me get my summon out first. Being of night. Emerge from the shade. Reveal the fear of the Moonless Night. Let's go, Zodiark, Keeper of Precepts!" Remilia called out.

Everyone's shadow elongated as it surrounded Remilia like a scarf. The shadow soon shrank until it was the size of a wearable scarf as the unholy snake with black wings slithered around Remilia, hissing all the way.

"Ready?" Lan asked putting on both of his Cat Claws.

"Yup. Zodiark, Let's go!" Remilia replied as she raised her Tiger Staff.

Robert Crescent

"Well, I guess all I can do for now is get ready for the Festival. I guess I'll see you at supper Eiko." he spoke with a smile before he then headed over to the air cab to go and sign up for the Festival. After he signed himself up, Robert decided to take a bit of an off-road walk; jumping across the rooftops.

As he looked down at the crowds and the alleyways, he saw Lucia running. His ears could pick up on the conversation. As much as she was a headache to him, she was still a comrade. Robert lept down from the rooftops, alnding a few feet away from Lucia.

"What's wrong Lucia? Are you alright?" Robert asked in a calm and concerned tone of voice.

Atalanta Palaiologos

"Please, just leave me alone, I have nothing left for myself now, not even friends. Please don't follow me, I don't deserve it..."

Atalanta sighed as climbed up to the stage and moved forward, grabbing the genome from behind and putting her hand on her shoulder. "Now now...don't you say that." Atalanta said, trying to console her. "I can be your friend if you want me to. You don't have to be alone." Atalanta then began to embrace her, wrapping her arms around Lucia's chest and letting the back of her head rest on her bosom. She knew how it felt to be alone, and no one wanted to feel like that.

The crash startled Atalanta and quickly released her grip, looking away from Lucia for a moment as Robert appeared from behind.

"What's wrong Lucia? Are you alright?"

"I found her like this just a few minutes ago Mr..uh?"

----
Annelise Steiner

"I assume you must be certain of this, with the loyalty you have towards her. But no matter who our enemies are, I will still keep you safe from them, no matter what"

As he wiped a tear off her face, she looked up as he kissed her on the forehead. "Even if Gisale appeared before us now, I would not let her harm you while I still drew breath"

"I just...I don't know what to believe in anymore..."
Even if Gisale appeared before her, what was she going to say? What would she say to defend herself. It's as if even though she knew one answer, it only led to more questions.

----
The Twinsword

"B-b-but he...K-keep me safe"

Twinsword held onto her, much to Lan's annoyance. Twinsword herself was too annoyed by this development, but nonetheless she didn't want to snap at the girl.

"Just remember, I will be in the attacking side when the mission start. Also tell Anne this. I only said that Brandish is Gisale. I never said anything about Gisale betraying Alexandria. She is only a traitor to Oeilvert."

"I'll let her know the next time I see her." Watching Lan walk away, she then turned towards the girl. "Do you have a name, little girl? My name is Twinsword."

As soon as Vanessa would answer she heard Lan's voice again.
"It's nothing. Twin Swords, little girl, step back. Remilia and I are going to have a sparring match."

"Alright then, just don't try to wreck the castle training okay."
Twinsword stood up and held out her hand. As soon as she grabbed it, she would then walk inside the castle as quickly as possible while watching Remilla summon Zodiark

"I can be your friend if you want me to. You don't have to be alone."

As the woman embraced her, Lucia felt warm and protected, right now it was a feeling she felt most distanced from yet at the same time she felt most needing of. As she began to relax into the woman's chest and close her eyes she was snapped back to reality as the woman quickly released her, just like that the warmth left her, returning her to her previous feeling.

"What's wrong Lucia? Are you alright?"

Recognising the voice as Robert's, right now she didn't need to deal with his complaints, or at least how she percieved his presence there, keeping her back turned to the woman and Robert she started to walk away as she wrapped her arms around herself "Please, just leave me alone, right now I just need to think" try as she may, Lucia couldn't completely hold back the shaking in her voice, she didn't want to seem weak or helpless. She couldn't afford to lose the confidence she had among the people she was travelling with, it was all she had holding her together and for Robert to see her now in such a state could prove disasterous later, at least how she viewed it.

Without waiting for a reply and quickly walked behind the curtains of the stage, she didn't want to be seen like this. This weakness even sickened her, her pride wouldn't allow her to show this side.

---------------------------------

"I just...I don't know what to believe in anymore..."

Ricard gently placed his hand on Annelise's cheek "then believe in yourself, believe in me, believe in everyone. Have faith in the people around you to be your strength in this, you have all of us still right?"

Ricard offered her a slight smile as he looked up to the sky and took her hand "Even if you did lose Gisale you have the rest of your friends and we all have faith and belief in you just like you do in us, right? Sure we might not always get along, but we can count on each other to watch our backs. So don't feel down because of this, you have all of us supporting you just like you support us"

Ricard then gently put his hands on Annelise's arms and looked into her eyes "And if that's too much to start, why not begin with faith in me? Maybe to show you can trust me i'll... Return the favour from before"

As Ricard said this he did feel the strange shy side take root again as he felt his heart jump in his stomach. Trying to ignore this he placed his hands on Annelise's cheeks as he leant in and kissed her, trying to replicate the way she kissed him. Once he did this he looked at her, hoping he didn't mess it up "So... I hope you can trust me"

-----------------------------------

"Do you have a name, little girl? My name is Twinsword."

Keeping her head down, Vanessa replied, moreso to Twinsword's legs "Um... My name is V-v-Vanessa, ma'am" she then performed a hasty bow. Looking up to see Twinsword's hand, Vanessa took it as if an instruction and followed her as the other girl summoned something called Zodiark. As it appeared Vanessa let out a quiet scream as she clung to Twinsword's arm and buried her head in her chest.

Once they got inside and stopped moving, Vanessa slowly removed her head before bowing again "S-so sorry master... It won't happen again"

Robert Crescent

"Robert Crescent of Burmecia." he replied to the young female. He turned his attention back to Lucia, who was intent on hiding herself behind a stage curtain. "Lucia, look. I know we aren't exactly on the best terms with each other, but we're still comrades. If something's troubling you, I want to help if I can." he spoke to her in a calm, concerned tone of voice. None of this was like Lucia. While she wasn't being her hit on everything in sight self, this wasn't how he wanted to see her.

Lan Ester and Remilia Oveilia

"Let's Go!" Both combatants exclaimed as Lan rushed towards Remilia.

"Zordiack, Banish Ray!" Remilia commanded as Zordiack fired a beam of black light towards Lan.

Not expecting a beam of light, the light slammed right into Lan as it pushed him backward.

"How many summons do you have?" Lan asked.

"I have enough to keep me alive. Banish Ray!" Remilia exclaimed as Zordiark fired it's black light again.

Lan dodged the attack and closed the gap towards Remilia as he slashed twice with both claws. Remilia blocked the attack as Zordiark fired another Banish Ray, forcing Lan to jump back to avoid the attack.

"That's a smart setup there Remilia. Having Zodiark on you to protect you if someone were to get into close range while you protect it." Lan muttered as he ran in again to attack.

Back and forth, Banish Rays, magic, and slashes were heard as Remilia and Lan fought each other in a flashy sparring match. While Remilia had the advantage of her summon Zodiark, Lan's endurance far exceeded Remilia's as she started to pant a bit more. Lan saw this and smiled.

"This match is mine!" Lan yelled as he rushed up to Remilia. A slight gust of wind spun around the pair as both Remilia and Lan froze in place. Lan's claws were inches from Remilia's head while Zodiark bared it's fangs and was one inch away from biting Lan at the throat.

The pair backed up as they sank to the ground tired. Zodiark unsummoned as Remilia looked at Lan.

"That's a close match." Remilia panted as she used the Tiger Racket as a cane.

"Yeah." Lan gasped as he laid on the ground, looking at the sky.

Remilia got up and as she got up she saw the girl near Twin Swords.

"Twinny. She's cute. Who is she?" Remilia asked as she walked over to the little girl and picked her up like a small kid before hugging her in a vice grip.

Lan got up afterwards and walked over to Remilia. Sheathing his claws, Lan pulled the hood over his head as he reached Remilia.

"I'm going to go find Brandish now and wait for the Festival to start." Lan muttered to both Remilia and Twin swords.

Aaron Sohm

Aaron looked up and saw not the group he came with but a group of people that seemed to just be chatting they looked at him like "What the heck is this guy talking about.."Blushing from the awkwardness he bows and runs back to the lobby."Sheesh can't believe I made such a dumb mistake."He groaned aloud before walking back to the couch he was sitting on."I guess I'll just go to the guest room's those guy's will have to come back to sleep eventually.."He begin's to walk back up the stairs,he reaches the room and goes inside finding a empty bed he lay's down on it and rests till someone enters the room.

"Lucia, look. I know we aren't exactly on the best terms with each other, but we're still comrades. If something's troubling you, I want to help if I can."

Though Lucia could see Robert wished to help, this was something she couldn't find herself able to discuss with him. A matter of the heart, a matter of pain, a matter of love she could not claim. Though what hurt her more than any of that was inadequacy, she wasn't sufficient for Gisale to take her with her, she would probably be in the way or be dead weight. Lucia had to find a way to become worthy of Gisale, so she could be proud of her and stand as her equal.

She felt a cold shiver run up her body as she embraced herself more tightly "I'm sorry but... This is something that cannot be solved with words"

-----------------------------

Before Vanessa could walk away to find the sign up sheet, she found herself getting picked up, trying not to make any noise she quickly got pulled into a hug, as Atalanta taught her to be polite to people Vanessa returned the hug and wrapped her arms around the woman, smiling at first until the man in green came back, she tried not to react and instead froze up as she avoided eye contact with him.

Remembering her purpose there she spoke as loudly as she could, putting her just below normal speaking volume of anyone else "W-where are the sign ups for the Festival?"

Alleria

Reality is indeed stranger than fiction. At least, for Alleria, it seemed to be very true. While the two appeared to be fairly annoyed by the development, Alleria was actually amused by it. Her sense of humor appeared to have changed.

"It's nothing. Twin Swords, little girl, step back. Remilia and I are going to have a sparring match."

"Alright then, just don't try to wreck the castle training okay."

It reminded of how it should have been for her. This trip was half a mission for Ipsen, and half a mission for herself. She had fulfilled the first half, but not the second. As Remilia summons Zodiark and Lan equip his Cat Claws, Alleria was looking over to the small girl.

"And I'm Alleria, hello there," said Alleria as she smiled lightly.

Garnet

Garnet had to chuckle at Freya's comments - but not for long. She was right. Zidane during the Brahne War was optimistic to a fault. Other than the one time in Terra, there was virtually no other times that he was ever pessimistic. It worried her to see Zidane like this.

"Alright...I've been spending the last few days in contact with Cid, Puck and Mikoto. Cid's also been talking with the Doge of Daguerreo about the forming a coalition against Oeilvert. If it works, we may be able to get the upper hand in the war. I'm hopeful it'll help contain them."

He nodded without a clever response or even a slight bit of laughter. Still holding Zidane's hands, Garnet massaged it as she spoke, a concerned expression etched on her face as she watch Zidane,"Zidane, we can do this together. Don't look so worried... Alrighty?"

Zidane's apparent pessimism was scaring her more than the war did. When the war does break out and spread closer to home, it would be in Zidane that Garnet seeks solace. That was what she had learned during the Brahne War and how she lived after. Affairs of the state troubled her often, but never when she was with Zidane. Which was why Zidane had to be optimistic, it was the source of Garnet's strength.
