(RP) SFR: The Age of Reconquista

Joachim d'Remilly

"Ahh! MONSTER!!!!"
He heard yelling coming from outside, most likely from the gated walls outside the castle, prompting the bishop to grab his staff and proceed out the door of the inn.

Meanwhile, The dark-skinned beast would charge in, destroying the wooden gates to the city as he began running on all fours, like a beast as it focused its attention on the castle at the center of the city. Two guards stood by to engage the creature whilst the populace retreated indoors for safety. The guards with their bows and arrows fired at the creature. The beast howled as the arrows dug into its flesh, but it kept making its advance, jumping up and pouncing at one of the archers who procceeded to literally claw his face off repeatedly until there was nothing but blood and the bone of the skull in view. The creature then turned its direction to the other archer, which was struggling to get a second arrow in. In a surprising move, the beast stood on its hind legs and let out a loud growl as it pulled out a sword, to simple in design to be a Kokonid sword, yet the curved blade was nothing seen in a Vestinian Kingdom, either Hipsanian and Gallican. The archer looked shocked and proceeded to flee for his life, but the Beast was faster, jumping up and pouncing down from behind. The beast plunged its sword on the screaming Toulousian guardsmen, who then proceeded to shut him up by bringing its sword around the mans neck and slicing his neck down to the bone.

The beast growled before it continued making its way inward, heading to the castle itself.

...Ms Kasid... Ms Contigre... Do you hear that odd animalistic snarling?

"Should we alert the guards?"

"Oh dear I must have gotten so caught up in pleasantries I haven't heard anything." She turned toward the chaos. She could hear shouting, crashing and snapping. She hear people fleeing in panic. "Oh that sounds terribly frightening. You dears can seek refuge the castle Inn. I was hoping we'd be able to walk back together- ah well, there goes that adventure."

Fae, being the daughter of a nursing family had felt the need to eliminate the threat and treat whatever wounded there was. She flicked both wrists and in a flash chrome spiked blades exploded from her arms, ripping the sleeves of her dress. Fae's fresh face looked calmly as the ground pulsed from the oncoming threat. "Lucky I bought a new wardrobe." she sighed looking back at the other two. "Well if you're not going to seek refuge then help me stop this thing. Unnecessary injuries are the worst kind." Fae said turning back to see the creature further away approaching faster.

Her arms, now blades, were held in a defensive stance. She couldn't help but think of the possible injuries caused by the beast, and even worse, the possible filth and germs contained within it's presence.

"Should we alert the guards?"

"Oh dear I must have gotten so caught up in pleasantries I haven't heard anything..... "Oh that sounds terribly frightening. You dears can seek refuge the castle Inn. I was hoping we'd be able to walk back together- ah well, there goes that adventure."

Nonsense. What Templar would i be if i hide in the face of danger? No, i shall be going off to assist the town Guardsmen

Well if you're not going to seek refuge then help me stop this thing. Unnecessary injuries are the worst kind."

Well. I shall. However, i cannot recommend either you nor Ms Kasid to join the fray. After all, it is dang....

Leowyne's words were cut short by large chrome blades appearing in place of the hands of Ms Contigre. It would have been a lie to say she was not surprised. It was odd magic, but given that the lady was of Elvean descent, it was hard to gauge what hidden secrets they held. It was not the time to probe in any case as the cries of Guardsmen becoming increasingly louder meant one thing. The beast was approaching their way, fast. Whatever Ms Cantigre may believe in in regards to her ability, in pure size and stature, Leowyne was much more capable of confronting and stopping this beast in its path. After it has stopped, if she want to join in on the fray, then that was up to her. Drawing Caliburn from its sheathe, the blade shone, even in the moonlight. Leowyne stood herself in the middle of the wide street ahead of Fae. Like her, Leowyne settled into a stable and defensive path, awaiting for the beast to come close

Ms Kasid! Vacate this area immediately. Take refuge within one of these houses or in a narrow alley where it cannot harm you.

Any second now, the beast would be upon her.

Come, you foul beast.....

Ms Kasid! Vacate this area immediately. Take refuge within one of these houses or in a narrow alley where it cannot harm you.

Oh she was tempted. The snarling beasts were getting closer, and although she was capable of protecting herself, she didn't want to abandon Leowyne and the new lady friend she made. Besides, running may well put her in greater danger, seeing as there would not be anyone as reliable as Leowyne to protect her if the beasts proved too difficult to handle. The panicked crowd didn't help things. With her size, chances were that she would be ending up in some unknown part of the town. Who knows what could happen then.

"No, I will not vacate this area," Vesper said, folding her arms. Looking in the direction of the beasts, Vesper willed her magical avatar into action. From Vivi emerged five balls of magical energies which further split into two, surrounding Leowyne and Fae in a protective field. "I'll help you guys!"

Luciana de Tordesillas and Rodrigo de Cea

Luciana awoke suddenly in the middle of the night, hearing something that she ought not be hearing. The Felidian squire arose from her resting quarters in the center of the village, taking a knife with her as she looked around the dark corridors of the leader's quarters. It was as she entered the main room of the house that Luciana heard something...heaving, the heaving was loud and it was heard all over the room, making her feel disoriented. Luciana started to feel headaches as her whole world started spinning around her. The moment of dizziness prompted the assailant to jump down and try to kill her off, but Rodrigo, who also heard the heaving from his own room came down and struck his opponent with a solid right hook that sent the man flying into a wall.

"Luciana, ¿Estás bien?" (Are you okay?) Luciana started breathing heavily, grasping her head, "Just dizzy, I'll be fine." Rodrigo then turned his attention towards the man, who seemed unphased by the powerful strike. "Are you an assassin? Who are you working for?" Rodrigo spoke to the armored man clad in black. The man growled however, pulling out what appeared to be a short sword. The sword had a dark blue hue to it, emanating a shadow before moving to attack the Knight.

Joachim d'Remilly

The screams and the growls were much louder as Joachim made his way closer to the city plaza, the sight of dead and heavily maimed bodies was sickening to the eye, and it made Joachim sad and disappointed, making him wonder who would do such a thing.

Joachim would get his answer as the beast, it's pitch-black skin swallowing even the serene moonlight jumped forward on an alternate street heading in the same direction he was to be heading. The beast roared as panicked people cleared the plaza, leaving it devoid of all except it and the three ladies standing in front of the creature. Once again the beast stood on it's hind legs, it's sword drawn with one hand, and on the other what appeared to be a golden whip. The creature gave the ladies a smile, or what appeared to be one, seemingly enjoying the carnage it is doing to this city. With both in hand the creature would charge forward, distending the whip as he lashed its hand forward, aiming for the more powerful person of the group, the female knight clad in white. Whether or not the attack would hit, the creature would then move to pounce on the next threatening target, the woman with the blades extruding from her arms, with the intent to impale her through her torso. (I'll leave it up to you three to decide how the protective field holds.)

Leowyne Grandeeny

Adrenaline pumped through Leowyne's veins as the beast bounded forward at an alarming rate. It had started on on all, gaining a great deal of momentum before reverting back to bipedal. This freed both hands to be armed with a golden whip and a short sword. As big as she was, Leowyne was not happy with the situation. The beast was equally large, running at full speed and armed. It had enough force behind the blade to, if landed squarely, do some serious damage to her armour and herself. She would have to be quick on her feet and in her sword arm to parry. Ms Kasid formed a magical barrier for all three of them but she doubted that it she can depend on it solely. Leowyne was taken back when instead of trying to run her through with the sword and barrel through her, the beast instead lashed at her with the whip and diverted to the side towards Ms Cantigre with the sword. The shield held the strike, taking most of the force, but collapsed as well. Seizing the opportunity, Leowyne's free hand snatched out for the whip before digging her heel in and attempting to pull back on it. If all goes well, as long as he doesnt let go of it, Leowyne should be able to jerk him back and giving Ms Cantigre a window to do some damage

OOC: Sorry for the color switching. I keep trying to figure out if I want to invert the colors of Fae's posts.

It took Fae a moment to realize the battle had begun. She had only been contemplating the best way to attack so as not to ruin her favored dress. She already knew how tough it was to scrub out blood stains. As the huge creature bounded towards her Fae had decided to stand still waiting until it had come close enough. "Oh! Shoot!"

She had not intended for the creature to pounce. As it did she flung her arms up to deflect the sword's metal . She felt the creatures weapon lunging down to her torso and as an immediate reaction, she, with both metal arms on either side of the creatures blade side stepped and brought her arms down toward the ground as if to guide the creature's weapon. "Oh my! My corset!"

The blade had caught her in the side, a flesh wound had begun to bleed. She didn't worry. Her regenerative powers would seal up the wound within the hour. As for her dress, it was completely ruined altogether. "I paid good money for that! Oh who knows what sort of bacteria that thing has!"

She lifted the front-side of her dress, but not any higher than the knee as that was not ladylike, and reached for a small vial inside of it's inner pockets. She tossed the glass vial with a liquid orange to make sure that it broke on the ground beneath the creature. The firebomb potion gave a blast of roaring heat and flames that sizzled upwards and then fizzled out. "That didn't do nearly as much as I'd hoped. I hope Mr. Roriks can teach me to make a better one." she wondered.

OOC: Np. As long as it makes it easier to separate convo is good

Leowyne Grandeeny

While the beast was halted somewhat, its blade still managed to reach Fae and cause a surface wound on her torso. It wasn't major, but Leowyne had hoped for a better result. Fae was not a useless damsel, however, as she swiftly pulled out a small vial and launched it at the foot of the beast. A flame exploded from the glass vial, generating heat and fire before it went out just as fast. Not as damaging as she had expected, but it would do. The beast was off balance after Fae's parry and had stopped all forward momentum or movement. Taking this opportunity to attack, Leowyne lunged forward with Caliburn in a straight thrust, its broad blade splitting through the air right towards the rear flank of the beast. If it hit, it was going in deep and through. If she missed, it was close enough to follow through with a left hook punch with the force of the thrust put all into her gauntlet. The fight was going to be extremely personal.

Joachim d'Remilly

The demonic beast roared as it was struck with one of the female's firebombs. The attack did some damage but was largely superficial, only serving to not only anger the creature, but also put it off balance. It was able to sense however, Leowyne attempt at trying to impale it from behind, and quickly sidestepped to the right, aiming for a slice of the creature's own. What he didn't count on was a strong left hook to the skull, further augmented by the steel gauntlet that would have cracked a normal person's skull wide open from such a blow. The creature staggered back, enraged that these creatures were able to turn the tide so quickly. Before it could recover, a fireball would strike at the creature from on the right, hitting it square in the face. The creature was now surrounded, as Joachim prepared a lightning-elemental magick that was certain to do more damage to the beast. But before anyone would launch any more attacks, a powerful blue lightning bolt crashed down on Joachim, knocking him back to a wall and knocking him out. Another series of blasts would come down on the other combatants except the creature. The creature looked up, to see a person, a female with white hair with her staff up in the air. She wore a half-cape that covered most of her body, except for her lower torso, her right leg and her right arm that held the staff. "Skotia, we are done here!" The woman said to the creature, as it growled at her.

[OOC: Sorry for the delayed response. By the way, the barrier lasts for a specific 5 hits. It's not exactly a protective field either, more of a ball of energy floating around, moving instantaneously to the attack and taking the blow.]

Thankfully for Vesper, it seemed she was not needed. Although she have had her fair share of battles by this point, she still lacked the same experience and strength that Leowyne clearly possessed. Watching the battle from a safe distance as Leowyne and Fae engaged the beast, she hesitated in making her next move. Up to this point, her battles had been an individual affair. There was no ally to consider the safety of unlike now.

Just as the thought sank in, the monster successfully launched a strike on Fae. Vesper took an involuntary step backwards. The girl, however, appeared unfazed by the newly inflicted wound. Producing a vial from somewhere within her dress, she tossed it at the beast, producing a blast of flames. Leowyne was immediately on to the beast, attempting a sneak attack. Vesper stood by, awed by their synergy, especially so considering this being their first battle together. Watching them, it felt like they had been comrades for years.

The monster seemed to have anticipated the attack and dodged it, but failed to avoid Leowyne's follow-up punch. As if on cue, Joachim appeared from out of nowhere, launching a blast of fiery magic at the beast. Overwhelmed by the sudden attacks, the beast staggered, opening itself up to a final, killing blow. A final blow that failed to come to fruition. Out of nowhere, a literal bolt out of the blue struck them all, the impact sweeping them off their feet. Vesper was stunned as she watched her world tumble about.

It was the hard thump and the wave of pain spreading through her body that shook her back into her quickly fading reality. Dazed and feeling uncomfortably faint, Vesper turned to face upwards, her hand gently pressing on her bleeding forehead.

"Skotia, we are done here!"

The voice was faint. Everything was faint. The world seemed to have taken on an ethereal quality as Vesper struggled to turn her head towards the sound of the voice. It came from a mysterious woman. She didn't know the lady, or even if she did, she couldn't see her clearly enough. The only noticeable aspect of her person was her clear white hair. That, and the possibility that it was her who brought down the powerful bolts. With that thought in mind, she began to struggle onto her feet.

"Oh this ground is just filthy!" Fae complained as she lifted herself up off the ground.

The bleeding from her wound had already slowed a considerable amount and was just oozing now. Fae quickly closed the wound as her right hand glowed with a bright white light and lightly tapped it. "Are you okay? Where's that soldier looking woman?" she asked the younger girl Vesper. "Is anyone hurt?"

Her hand still glowed white. She was readily able to apply first aid to any cuts and scrapes. She shook her head a bit and tried to recall what had just happened. It wasn't the foul smelly germ ridden beast who had caught her off guard but someone else. A female from the sound of it, but Fae never got a good glimpse at the person. She only felt a painful shock before being thrown off her feet. It was hard to recall anything. However as long as the town was safe from attack and nobody was hurt her mind would be at ease. At least for now.

Some city residents were lying all around hurting either from debris of the battle or a direct attack from the monster. Fae already knew that many of them would not make it so the did rounds to help whoever she could. Many patients and fixed bruises later and many of the residents were back on their feet again. She found a man lying near a wall. She didn't know if he was unconscious or not but she was grateful that he had come to help them out, even it he hadn't had the chance to get as involved in the battle. "Sir? Are you okay?"

She was sure that her first aid ability could not wake anyone from an unconscious state but it was worth a try.

Leowyne Grandeeny

The blt hit her like a sledgehammer. Even with all her experience with getting hit with all kinds of offensive magic, lightning in her opinion was rather nasty. All around her, the same lightning bolts struck her companions and any unfortunate civilian caught in the open. She worried about them. Joachim, Ms Kasid and Ms Cantigre may be fine since they seemed to be seasoned fighter and travellers, but these townspeople were cushy besides daily labour. While everyone around fell flat to the ground, Leowyne refused to, dropping to her knee with Caliburn used as a support. Whiule she succeeded from falling into unconsciousness and remain somewhat up, Leowyne knew the shock has left her nervous system in a mess. The false signals sent to her limbs made them lock in place and the lingering effect meant that besides a few struggled twitches, Leowyne was not going to be up and fighting.

"Skotia, we are done here!"

In the air stood a white haired woman, wielding a fine white staff. The fact that she was defying gravity and capable of such flight meant she was not one to be taken lightly of. The woman was well versed in magecraft. Around her, Leowyne could hear tthe others stir, in particular Fae as she got up to tend to the wounded. Leowyne herself was not sure if it was her own armour that amplified the attack or that the bolt was special, but it seemed the effects were lingering a bit longer than the others. Feeling was returning as Leowyne managed to get to her feet. Still unsteady, her Paladin pride pushed her to face the new adversary. If need be, she would shield the healing Fae if more magic came their way. Quickly, Leowyne performed a complex six point symbol with her fingers, setting off a healing spell on herself, hoping to speed up the return of her limbs.

You there! State your name! Art thou a companion of this beast?

Luciana de Tordesillas & Rodrigo de Cea

As Luciana was still trying to recompose herself, Rodrigo would continue to battle the demonic knight, managing to avoid a few of his sword swings, only get a light scratch that barely touched his arm. Grabbing ahold of the individual by his sword arm under Rodrigo's arm and his neck by the knight's hands, he would push him back and toss him through the window, watching him fall down the two story building, only for the dark-clad warrior to land on his feet and run off.

Luciana watched all the events that had happened and was somewhat relieved that their assailant either died or escaped to fight another day. Standing up on her feet, the Felidian's tail swayed from side to side as she looked at her compatriot. "Are you okay?" Rodrigo gave Luciana a reassuring smile. "Just a scratch, I will be fine."

"Who, or what was that creature?"

"I do not know, I'll tell the soldados (soldiers) to be on the lookout. For now, just go get some rest."
Rodrigo said, his breathing slightly audible but not enough to be noticeable. "Yes sir, good night."
----
Joachim d'Remilly

"Sir? Are you okay?"

Joachim heard a voice calling to him as he was quite dazed from the lightning bolt that struck him. "I-I'm alright, thank you." He said, clutching his head, his ears still ringing. "What of the others?" It was then that the priest heard a light, sinister chuckle come from the woman. The beast stood there, watching his master of sorts as she slowly descended.

You there! State your name! Art thou a companion of this beast?

The woman scoffed at Leowyne as she said that, looking down at her from her lofty perch. "Wouldn't you like to know." She said as her feet touched the ground, her body looking straight at the Paladin, the staff's head pointing directly at the Paladin. "If you wish to keep that pretty little head on your shoulders, do not interfere in the affairs of Hipsania." The beast stood on it's hind legs and it too spoke, speaking in a deep, masculine voice. "Soon, we will claim our rightful place on this world, shrouded in eternal darkness."

Joachim was the one to speak up next, "W-Who are you people?" He spoke out, looking at the two of them as they turned to the side. "We are...no more than forerunners to your civilization, those who wish to reclaim it from the successors who misuse their powers, and we will carry out our goals to return Archeron to the way of our civilization."

"That is enough, Lady Phobos, we must go now."
The creature known as Skotia said as it started to fade into darkness. Phobos put her staff down with a loud, "Hmph." Before she too faded into a dark well, which dissipated in front of all who would see.

As she got on her feet, albeit unsteadily, her vision got clearer. Apparently, the attacker was a white-haired woman wearing a half-cape that obscured her almost entirely save for her lower torso and right arm and leg. The beast seemed to be a pet of some kind... Or something. It obeyed her words as if they were orders from some higher authority. Whatever she was, she wasn't to be underestimated. Vesper was sure she will never want to be struck by that same bolt ever again.

Glancing around, Vesper noticed Fae and Leowyne already up on their feet. They had all been struck by the same bolt, so it amazed her that they could pick themselves up so much more easily than she did. The feeling of awe didn't last long as the pain in her body made itself known again with a sore aching that made Vesper groan slightly. To stave off the pain, she moved towards Leowyne, hoping some movement might shake the pain off.

You there! State your name! Art thou a companion of this beast?

Vesper almost scoffed. As she had expected, the white-haired woman scoffed as well, responding tauntingly to Leowyne. The only clue she gave about her identity was a stern warning to not interfere with Hipsanian affairs. Even though it meant little to her, Vesper could feel a sense of dread rising as the conversation was continued by the beast - who knew the beast could speak?

"Soon, we will claim our rightful place on this world, shrouded in eternal darkness."

Wonderful. Now there were some monsters hoping to take over the world. How much better can things get? The conversation continued, with Vesper looking around to see if there was any other threat nearby. There wasn't. When she looked back at the woman and her beast, she was gone in a well of blackness. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she staggered out in front of Leowyne. Vesper had seen this spell in a few of the Skadi family experiments, but never had she seen in it practical use. The amazement didn't last long, as the sense of dread again revisited her.

"What now?"
She asked.

Verdus had been refused entry of course, and yet it seemed so clear that Verdus's fate belonged here. Yet again, time was subsided so he would return another time. He decided to march on towards the city of the archbishop whereas he hoped he would find some shred of requiem. He only wished he could move fast enough before darkness reached the skies. Yet the night was devouring the light's solace, and it would only be soon that the hours would belong to evil. And himself.

OOC: Will post as Joachim once Tipsy (and Oli possibly, but not necessarily) posts. Thus it will be a short post.

IC:

Luciana de Tordesillas & Rodrigo de Cea

The sun shone through the window as the Felidian female squire stirred in bed. As she sat up and started to stretch, she began to come off the bed, looking out of the window. There she saw Rodrigo walking out of the house, most likely making his usual rounds around the town of Itero de Abija. Luciana began to move away from the window, moving to get her clothing and attire on so she can help support the defense detail around the city.

Her Armor was laid out on the bed as she began to put the pieces on altogether. From the pauldrons to the gauntlets, from the greaves to the boots, Luciana would quickly put on her body, before making her way out of the house.

"Wouldn't you like to know. If you wish to keep that pretty little head on your shoulders, do not interfere in the affairs of Hipsania.

The disdain in her voice was as clear as day and it wasnt really without reason. After all, one move and she had disabled everyone in the immediate vicinity. As proud as she was with her own abilities, Leowyne was out of her league, but pride pushed her to continue on with a strong face. One thing was clear and that was they seemed adamant in stopping Joachim from going to Hipsania to settle the family feud. If that was the case and they are seeking to instigate war scale violence, then Leowyne will confront them sooner or later down the line, even if it meant her life.

Soon, we will claim our rightful place on this world, shrouded in eternal darkness."

W-Who are you people?

We are...no more than forerunners to your civilization, those who wish to reclaim it from the successors who misuse their powers, and we will carry out our goals to return Archeron to the way of our civilization."

"That is enough, Lady Phobos, we must go now."

That answered part of her queries. They were some precurser race as they claimed and have all the intentions of plunging the continent into fire. Both figure disappeared in a puff of magic and fade into darkness.

What now?"

That is without question. We need to head to Castilla with post haste. I fear for what may be in store.

Still a bit wobbly, Leowyne tried to walk it off, going over towards Joachim, Fae and Vesper.

Bishop Joachim. If we do not require additional recuperation time after the night, might I suggest we speed up our trip?

Taking a cautious patrol around this abandoned city, Ryo continued to follow his orders even in this calm situation. Seeing a man leaving one of the buildings drew Ryo's attention towards it, however he avoided impulsively entering in the event of a trap. Not long afterwards he could hear the clumsy clunking of armour from inside, withdrawing to a safe distance Ryo waited to see who else was due to leave the building and if possible, what their purpose is. Observing the target he saw that they were Felidian though they didn't seem like a genuine threat.

Keeping a hand ready to grab his sword if she turned out to be a threat he approached her and revealed himself.

"Excuse me, what is your purpose here?"

Fae Cantigre
Proposal

She had just finished giving treatments to the wounded in the area when she arrived back at the group.

"Oh! Castilla? You know this man?" Fae was surprised. "And you all are travelling over the border?! Oh my how exciting!"

She was completely oblivious to the previous conversation with those that had just attacked them. One would think that nothing had happened to her at all. She was more interested in finding the Alchemist potions master who had gone on travels as well. Maybe she should try to cross the border as well, or better yet maybe she would meet him on her travels! It seemed like fate had brought her to these young people.

"Pardon me, but would you all mind if I tagged along for this trip?" she asked.

If they refused she would resort to playing the old feeble and lonely travelling woman card which she had always been planning to use to gain companions at some point. "I am the daughter of well known healers. I could be of much service to you all and I wouldn't even charge you!"

She hid the coin purse filled with the currencies of those she had just mended back to health. A girl has to make her own way in this world! she thought. "Well? What do you say? I'm looking for someone who has gone over the border himself and I'd really appreciate the company."

Verdus and co had finally made it to the city. After hours became mere moments, he had been fatigued by his journey. Unfortunately, he realised trouble had been brewed. After fear had seemed to plunge, he travelled to where (with luck) Bishop Joachim was. His smell had served him right, and so decided to ask what was wrong. He thought that he already knew, but it was better to be safe than sorry. Judging by the looks some locals had given him, it had seemed eminent that they had their suspicions as to who he were.

Not too soon. Give it more time, he thought.
