It started off like any normal day for Vex, well as far as normal goes for him now. Vex was sitting down on a stool at the local bar, where he was sitting at the counter trying to find out some information. He was quietly drinking when he overheard a conversation going on between two of the other occupants.

“So have you heard, the neighboring town of Daziel is having some problems, something about the earth shifting around?” The second voice replied “Yea, I heard it’s been giving them a bad crop season as well, and that their soil is poor as well.”

Vex swirls around the glass he is currently holding and thinks to himself,” So now after all this time one of them seems to have reveled themselves. I wonder if he knows of this, well I better be along the way then and get going. Excuse me Gentlemen” Vex looks to the two men, “Can you tell me what direction this town is I would like to see if I could help them at all.”

The two men tell Vex that Daziel is about a days walk to the east, they advise him against going because of the strange occurrences around the area but Vex dismisses them and thanks them politely for their time. As Vex walks outside and leaves theof the bar he wonder again to himself “I wonder what I’ll do if indeed there is one gems their. Some force must have caused it’s activation but I just hope it’s something I can handle.”

Nami looked up from his book, placing it on the table and getting himself a drink of water, next thing he knew he had brandy and a knife in his hand, its a good job he came back at that moment to because he managed to drop the knife before turning on his reflection. "Dammit Iman, you know not to do this anymore! and you know i dont drink!" he stood staring into his own reflection shaking with anger while his reflection looked on calmly "Its just a drink!" it replied "And why shouldnt i do that? its fun to make blood patterns" Imans voice rang in his head even as nami left the room and headed out into the rain, heading into the clearing where he spent time training his martial arts.

'Another earthquake. This is not good.'

Damian stood there staring at his latest attempt at creating an irrigation system. He had been in Daziel for a few weeks now. Some force had drawn him here, and when he came to investigate, he had found a place in despair. The people there had been having trouble maintaining any sort of crop. The earth had not been cooperating with any method used to restore it.

Damian had offered his aid to the people of Daziel, because he had grown up in a similar surrounding. His help was gratefully accepted, but proved not to help their situation. He simply became just another hand on the farm working to salvage whatever crop he could.

The force that had drawn him here grew stronger everyday. Damian imagined that it must be the source of all of Daziel's troubles. He had searched at night to find the source of energy, but the whole area was so saturated with power that he could not pinpoint any specific location.

Damian had not told anyone of his nocturnal investigations because he had not wanted anyone to worry if there was some greater threat. For all Damian knew, the source of the energy was trying to fix whatever was going on. This shift in the earth may just be a natural event that needed to be adjusted.

"Come on Damian. Let it go." One of the farmers that Damian had been working with saw his disappointment at the destroyed irrigation system. "Let's take a break and start over in an hour."

Damian gave a long sigh and nodded his head.
"Alright. Let's go then."
He was not going to give up.
'Hopefully something will come up that will help me fix this mess.'

Cairn Rosencrant-Fate can be cruel for those who attempt to change it and it shows no forgiveness for those who defy its will...

After travelling for weeks, Cairn finally found himself standing on the very centre of a crossroads. There was a sign describing which location could be access depending on the path chosen. The sign that pointed to his left was barely legible, but he could conclude that it lead to the nearby forest he saw on his map. To his right the signed read "Daziel" and it was inscribed with runes which represented the words "town".

Daziel... I've heard that town has been having problems the past weeks. Earthquakes, bad crops, monsters and all kinds of omens have been occurring without explanation. I town like that could use my services as a hunter. Perhaps I could also use the chance to gather information on the ongoing war that has been plaguing the region as well.

Cairn commented as he picked up his bags and followed the path to Daziel. On his way to Daziel, Cairn could notice the diversity of the region and from the journal entries of his fellow hunters, he read that the surrounding areas of Daziel and its meteorology are very diverse including sub tropical, tropical and arid. Another fellow hunter compared the region of Daziel as hot, humid and uninteresting aside from a few parchments of forests scattered across the land and of course, the women of Daziel.

From the road's view Cairn could see farmers working on the land though most of the crops didn't grew as expected.

There is no match in neither heaven nor hell for the fury of Fate. Perhaps this is the result of our constant defiance... or maybe it was bound to happen eventually. Life can't be all good all the time...

Cairn murmured as he continued his way towards Daziel. Even on the soil he could notice that the land was dying. With each step, his heavy boots flattened the dry soil and reduced to dust the stones which he stepped on. The sun was neither too harsh nor too dim, it seemed as it was fixed on an eternal sunset, but perhaps this was maybe the impression got from the moment.

Cairn stopped for a moment, knelt down and grasped with his right hand the dry blades of grass he saw on the ground and pulled them with little effort. He stood up, without taking away his gaze from the contents of his hand.

Cairn then smirked, a slight glint of empathy towards these people could be seen on his eyes. Suddenly, Cairn lifted his right fist high above his shoulder level and opened his hand releasing the dry blades of grass he kept held within his fist. The blades were quickly caught by the wind and scattered all across the field.

Like these, we are mere blades of grass caught by the winds of Fate. But even as such we can struggle to change the direction where Fate is taking us... it is not an easy task though.

Cairn then cleaned the remaining dust on the palm of his hand with his cape and then proceeded to continue his walk towards Daziel.

Daziel - The journey begins in a town plagued by misery...

Within the nearby forest, laid asleep on a particularly large tree branch was Rufus, within the forest it was somewhat peaceful, and the height kept away most of the bugs that littered the forest floor.

As he laid deep in sleep the forest floor began to rumble, slightly at first but gradually building till the entire forest shook, the force causing the still-sleeping Rufus out of his branch, plummeting face first into the floor below. After a few seconds he started to push on the ground and lift his mud covered face up as the ground began to shake violently again, pulling himself to his feet he tried with great effort to maintain his balance and grabbed a tree.

As the rumbling began to subside he observed the chaos it caused in the wildlife, both animals and even plants had been unsettled, trees had been uprooted and some outright collapsed, crushing anything in it's path, the flowers faring little better.

"What the heck is going on in this world? At this rate this place will die... What can I do?"

Vex was lost in thought as he was traveling through a forest. It was the only vibrant thing in means of life he saw in miles. The surrounding land was dry and barren, the soil itself so hard nothing could grow. The grass and dirt turned to dust if he grabbed it, yet this forest seemed so different. Vex could swear he felt some type of magical energy here, but he dismissed it as his attention was focused on getting to Daziel. His focus rattled when the ground began to shake violently. With nothing to balance himself with he found himself sprawled on the ground. After the quake Vex with some large effort pushed himself up and managed to stand on his two feet. His vision a blur he trudged through the forest.

As he was walking through Vex thought he saw someone leaning up against a tree for support. The person in question looked male and maybe a good thirty feet away, as to why he was there Vex didn't know. He shook his head dismissing the person, contributing to maybe a small amount of fatigue or the fact that he was dizzy from the quake, after all he has been walking for two days straight with no rest.

Vex continued walking till he got out of the forest in which now his vision was no longer blurred, he saw Daziel off in the distance. The village from his viewpoint looked so desolate, it almost seemed as if no one was living there. The land before him was cracked and dried. If he hadn't heard this to be a farming village before he would doubt it's existence as one. "Well I should be getting there soon, hopefully when I get there some of my questions can be answered."

Virgil Talen
Guard of Fenith

The sky was a clear blue, almost crystal like, there wasn't a cloud to be seen. The air was full of the sounds of chirping birds and the wind rustling through the treetops.

"Ahhh what a beautiful day" Virgil sighed pleasantly as his horse trotted along the stone path. Virgil had been traveling for many days by horse back. He was a reserve guard. His home town was Fenith which is where he would spend most of his days watching the gates and protecting the town from unwanted visitors but today he was sent to Daizel, a small farming town a few days trek from Fenith. Something strange was going on around there, the soil was not producing crops anymore and the Earth would quake and split, everyone knew Virgil had a talent for reading the Earth. He was definitely the best man for the job. Plus he didn't mind a bit of travel.

Eventually the small town came into sight. It was cute and very quiet but already the half blood could tell something was not right with this place. As he entered he showed his Guard seal to the guard standing at the gate, they exchanged a nod of welcome and thanks and the gate was open.

"Another Contractor named Damian was sent inside not long ago. He's been helping the farmers salvage their crops" The guard spoke.

"Thank you Sir!" Virgil said with a smile before riding his horse into the town. Once into the town center he hopped of his horse and tied him to a pole. "Stay here Duke" hands reaching up and petting the soft leathery nose. The clear white horse snorted in response.

Heading up the path towards the Farmers fields Virgil wondered how he would know which man was Damian... hopefully he would be wearing his guards armor. As he continued he noticed a young man helping a farmer out, he looked quite displeased and upset probably because this field was a mess.

Virgil cleared his throat "Errrhmm, Good day Sir, I am Virgil Talen, Guard of Fenith, would you happen to be Damian by any chance?"

Damian froze for just a moment. He had not noticed the stranger approaching him until he had introduced himself. It was a strange feeling, having someone sneak up on him without his knowledge. The Force within Daziel was getting to him a little more each day. The mystery behind it was too distracting for him.

Damian turned towards the man for a better look at who was addressing him. He only seemed a couple years older than himself. He seemed to be human, but Damian could help but feel that something was off about the man's appearance. He could not place what was off, but Damian felt that this was a good person.

"I'm Damian. Nice to meet you Virgil." He tipped his hat in greeting to the stranger.
"What can I do for you?"

The rain had stopped by the time Nami headed back into town, his knuckles bruised but his spirits high, carrying firewood over his shoulder he smiled as he passed the guards with a knowing nod, he never took an axe and yet always had firewood, it puzzled them how he did it but they didnt know about his fist skills he noticed two people that didnt seem to be from the area stood talking not too far from where he was. he put the wood down on his usual pile and walked over "Excuse me gentlemen what are you two doing?" he said with as much niceness as possible in the circumstances of uncertainty

Virgil Talen
Guard of Fenith

"I'm Damian. Nice to meet you Virgil. What can I do for you?"

This man seemed kind enough and he said he was Damian so Virgil continued:

"A pleasure to meet you Damian. I have been sent from my guard post in Fenith to Daizel to study the strange going-ons. I understand there have been many earthquakes and strange happenings over the past few days, do you have any knowledge on why this may be?"
He asked professionally. He had no idea how much knowledge this man may possess about what was happening in this quiet farm village but at the moment any new information would be helpful Otherwise Virgil would have to see what he could read from the earth itself.

Popping up behind them came a voice,
"Excuse me gentlemen what are you two doing?"

Virgil was not going to answer that without first knowing who this gentleman was. the elfling was a trusting man but not before he knew who he was speaking with.

"You should learn to introduce yourself before asking strangers such a question."
was how he answered, voice stern and deep.

"Ah how very rude of me" he laughed a hearty laugh. "I am Nami Hitagiri and im the towns dojo-master" He flexed his muscles slightly in a joking way. "Now you have my name i am at a disadvantage, surely you would give me yours to balance this out?" he smiled and waited patiently for the other person to answer his questions from before

Vex stood at the edge of the forest taking in his surroundings. Seeing the village before him and how the rest of the land was so desolate angered him, at the same time he was being filled with a sense of dread. What confused him even more was this forest, it was an oddity. The rest of the land scape was dull and dead yet this was so full of life. Part of him wanted to stay here and investigate but he felt responsible to check on the village first.

"I don't like leaving here, I can't place it but something tells me I need to stay here. Also just by looking at the place, could the Earth gem be responsible. No not unless if it was corrupted by the Dark gem or some type of being managed to draw upon it's power, though what kind of being is able to perverse the gems power like this?"

Vex was left in constant though for the better part of the two hours it took to get from the forest to the village. Upon reaching the village the rumors he heard back at
Synkast. He could see them trying to hold on to what little they had left here. Looking at the people still attempting to tend to the crops and sow the earth to plant seeds, he could see this was a village of proud people. They were not going to go down so easily and let this problem tear them down. "Seeing this, it's all the more reason I need to see if a gem is behind this. Well time to get to work and see if anyone has information I can use."

Walking around town now Vex came across a group of three travelers. All seemed to be from out of town. Deciding to give them the benefit of the doubt and hoping they were here on a mission of good faith, though every fiber in his body was telling him not to be so trusting right now he decided to walk up to them.

"Hello there travelers. Are you here by chance to help the people of this village? If so maybe I could offer my assistance since that's what I'm down here for."

Virgil Talen
Guard of Fenith

Virgil suddenly found himself surrounded by people, one moment it was just himself and Damian and now there was a man called Nami and a new fellow.

"I am Nami Hitagiri and im the towns dojo-master. Now you have my name I am at a disadvantage, surely you would give me yours to balance this out?"

Luckily before he answered the fourth man waltzed over towards them asking
"Hello there travelers. Are you here by chance to help the people of this village? If so maybe I could offer my assistance since that's what I'm down here for."

"Well, I was just about to introduce myself to Nami here, so I may as well do it while both sets or ears are listening." Virgil said with a smile. "My Name is Virgil Talen, I am a Guard of Fenith, sent to Daizel to study the strange earth effects going on in this farm town. I was just asking Damian here if he had any information on what might be causing the earthquakes."

Damien hadn't quite had a chance to answer him yet with all these new people popping up, so Virgil had hoped all three of them would have a new piece of information each. "Any information from you lot would be greatly appreciated, I do need to report back with something that isn't already known." and he'd really much rather not have to use his powers on the Earth in front of everyone. He knew what most humans thought of Elves and even though he was only half, it wouldn't matter to them, or that is what he was lead to believe.

Noticing a man in the distance attracted Rufus' attention, especially considering how there had been a small earthquake just now. Not wanting to let such a suspicion go unchecked he kept a low profile and followed the man, keeping his spear at the ready while walking at a fair distance behind him, with strong eyesight he could keep track of him over larger distances than the average man. Taking longer than he expected, Rufus almost grew bored of following the man when a village appeared in the distance.

Closing in slightly he mixed in with the crowd till the man turned a corner and approached a group of strangers. At this point Rufus stopped pursuing and simply watched, there was something strange going on and he didn't like it, perhaps they were accomplices?

'Now I know something must be going on. Other travelers coming into this town. Something must be gathering us here.'

Damian now stood in the company of complete strangers. The farmer he had been talking to earlier had already gone ahead to the house to rest. These newcomers all seemed strange to him except for Nami. He had seen him many times in the past couple weeks around town. Apparently Damian had done most of his work unnoticed by many of the towns inhabitants.

The other two seemed to have come here for the same reason as Damian. He was unsure whether he could trust them with the information he had. Though it was not a lot, it was enough to give the town unwanted attention. Nami had already shown that the people of the town were beginning to become wary of strangers. It would not be good if they stopped trusting people all together.

"I have been here helping for quite some time. I can't seem to find out what is causing all this trouble."

Nami thought for a minute. and realised something "Ah!" he said with a slightly theatrical finger point to the sky "even though my punches can bring down mountains there have been a strange amount of earthquakes closer to the southern region near my dojo" he pointed towards it. "i dont mind them because i own nothing that can not be rebuilt after the quakes" He left the space for the others to speak, he was happy to wait now that he had at least one name

Vex just looked around at the travelers that were here, truth be told the group of them seemed like a ragged bunch out of place here. Sizing them up one by one Vex thought that the guard from Fenith Virgil he believed he heard them say his name was, and the other whose name he didn't hear seemed reliable. However this one called Nami something about him bothered Vex.

"Well then it's nice to meet you Virgil, my name is Vex." Turning his attention to the other mans name he didn't know he proposed an idea."There is a forest nearby here, maybe about ten miles away from this village. Considering how dead everything else seems around here we may find something there. After all the forest seemed to be so vibrant and full of life it seemed out of place with whats going on here in this town."

Maybe it was the feeling of something wrong or maybe it was him being impatient, but Vex didn't wait for a response from anyone. He said what he wanted to and left back for the forest with a sense of uneasiness gnawing at him. The more he thought of it the more he thought he should have investigated the forest first. Not to mention it would already take another two hours to get back there and by then the sun would be setting. So whatever thing or force that was causing this could end up being that much harder to find.

Virgil Talen
Guard of Fenith

Damian didn't seem to have any clue about what was going on and Virgil still wasn't exactly sure who this Nami fellow was, the third Vex had a strange aura about him abut Virgil wasn't sure what that even meant.

"There is a forest nearby here, maybe about ten miles away from this village. Considering how dead everything else seems around here we may find something there. After all the forest seemed to be so vibrant and full of life it seemed out of place with whats going on here in this town."

Virgil watched the man named Vex walk off without even waiting for a reply. "Impatient one isn't he..." He muttered to the two men standing next to him. "Well he is the only one with any idea on where to go next so I will follow, I should not return home without any information or I will be scolded." He smiled and then followed after Vex.

"So who exactly are you Vex? You don't look like a guard...So where have you come from and for what purpose?"
The half-elf asked with a raised eyebrow as they walked through the town to get to the forest. Virgil stopped by the bar where he had tied his horse up and waited for a response as he untiled the reins from the wooden pole. There was no way he was going to leave his Black Beauty Duke here on his lonesome. The horse had been his only friend for many years.

"And I hope you have a horse, you're not planning on walking ten miles are you?" smiling, Virgil fixed up the saddle and tightened it around the horses belly. Duke let out a small whinny.

Damian stood there watching as Vex and Virgil left the village. The forest had been the one place that he had not looked yet. It had not occurred to him that the source of the force that had brought him here was in the forest. He had expected it to sit at the center of the problem. The force had saturated the area so much that it was very much a possibility that this village was not the center. The forest could be the eye of the storm.

The only thing that seemed strange to Damian was the fact that Vex had directed them to the forest. Vex must have known that there is some greater force at work here in order to come to a conclusion like this. Damian needed to follow him to find out what this stranger knew, and what his intension were for it.

He ran to the house he had been staying for the past couple weeks. It was currently empty. The family that lived there must have been out for the evening. His sword lay on the shelf in the living room where he had been sleeping every night. It had been high out of reach of the children of the house. He grabbed the handle and pulled the blade partially from the sheath. It glistened brighter than normal today. The Farmer's wife must have polished the blade for him.

'Bless her heart.'

Damian tied the blade to his waist and took off running. He ran straight out of the village toward the forest. His cape streamed behind him as he sprinted to catch up with Vex and Virgil. People watched him leave with worried eyes as he took off with his sword.

Vex continued walking as the one Virgil asked him a few questions, while though some he didn't want to bother answering he figured it would be better if he gave as little info as possible.

"I am just who I said I was. My name is Vex and I am just a wandering swordsman. As for being from somewhere I don't have any real place to call home, though I have been spending most of my time in Synkast as of late."

Still walking on to make it apparent he didn't have a horse he left the village and waited on the outskirts. Looking around the place again he was filled with even more determination and mumbled to himself.

"I really hope that this can be a simple case. Please don't let it involve who I think it might or what it might."

Looking back to Virgil he replied once more "Nope don't have a horse, I find it better to walk. Also i'm gonna wait here and see if any of those other two come with us. If one of them comes we can leave, think it would be best to have at least three people investigate instead of two."
