[RP] The Condemned

Finally, the train arrived after a few hours of waiting. "Thank god, I really need to get as far away from here as possible."

Wolf entered the train, where he took his seat. Looking out the window, he himself was surprised at how far he traveled to get to where he is now. He was surprised that no one came to go after him. Maybe he was being paranoid. (To be fair, considering that there were people who knew of his power that was after him, he had a right to be.)

After a half-hour, the train started moving. It was a high speed train to the city of Torino. His last stop in Italy before reaching France. He expected it to be a short ride considering the distance between the two cities.

- Lacrimosa -

“Do not worry, everything will be fine.”

It was somewhat hard not to. She hadn't actually considered these possibilities. All she knew was that she could actually manipulate emotions to some extent... But she certainly hadn't thought about how she could actually use it to manipulate people. These revelations brought Lacrimosa to the assumed understanding as to why the Black Hand would want her.

Nevertheless, she still felt Remilia's description of her powers were rather exaggerated.

"Okay... But nay, my powers aren't that powerful."

She says that with a laugh. It was the first time that someone actually complimented her for her powers after all, and seemed amusing to the girl. It was also the first time that Lac was in contact with a mutant as well.

Remilia smiled as Lacrimosa did, “Nevertheless, it is all in theory anyway,” she said, still thinking that her conjecture held stable ground. “It is getting late. Perhaps we should get to bed. After all, a night such as ours warrants a much needed rest.” Remilia then took a slight bow as she walked down the hall to her bedroom. Her bedroom being covered in even more Star Wars posters than her living room, her personal favorite being of the main cast of the series sitting around a table in The Last Supper fashion, Remilia loved it.

Walking to her computer, she played Vivaldi’s Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, the summer movement, Iii Presto, lightly as to not bother Lacrimosa. She was rather worried about someone attacking the apartment, but Remilia couldn’t see how anyone could get in. With the door and the windows being booby trapped, it should be impossible for anyone to get in or out forcefully. Still, if the Black Hand got in while we were asleep, we would not stand a chance, Remilia thought. Enough of this, I am getting rather tired. She then sat down on her bed, and before she knew it, she was asleep.

Isaac looked at his card. The ace of Hearts. That made either 10 or 20. He was tempted to ask for another. The worst would be a king. Hearing Orion cry '21' made Isaac seriously consider his options. He had four cards for 21. The only way to beat that would be to pull another ace. But how likely was that? At best there were only three aces left. And what if Orion had one? That made it less. His best option was to stay at 20.

"20. Whatever. Sides, its only three hundred. Shall we go again? Or do you want to go for another game?"

Despite the fact Josie had been pondering on what happened earlier, she now had a new target. Or rather, two at that. Although she had to do quite some travelling to get to their destination, she hardly ever let a target escape.

"The target is to be approached with extreme caution," Mischa said in her earpiece.

"You say this all the time, can't we just be informal about this?" Josie rolled her eyes.

"We've got to be serious about this, Jose. Your first target is Orion Smith and is deadly. He's got the powers of animation, sound manipulation and probability manipulation. You might be able to heal constantly, but he could turn everything around him against you. Luck might not be on your side."

"Pfft, all right. What about the other?"

"The second target is Isaac Ashwood. We like to call his abilities as needlespike, snip, flamethread and fabric creation. He's practically the offensive type with his fabrics and can even create needles out of his hands. Please be careful, Josie."

"Always am."

She cut off from Mischa, revving her motorbike and speeding faster than the limit on the motorway. Anyone would've stopped her along the way, but this was a matter of urgency. Both of these mutants could have devastating consequences if they revealed themselves. On the other hand, Josie wanted to resolve this as peacefully as she could. She would offer them a chance to join MERIT just like they had done with her.

Eventually, Josie reached the place where they were. She heard the game going on and wondered how she was going to approach this one.

"20. Whatever. Sides, its only three hundred. Shall we go again? Or do you want to go for another game?"

Orion considered, then shrugged.

"Let's go find something else. See if you can get better odds."

As Orion stood and turn, he heard a shout almost out of nowhere.

"STOP! THIEF!"

The voice was following a young man clutching a wallet to his chest. The young man collided with a normal looking-girl, and that made Orion suspicious. While he generally did not use his sound and animation abilities, his probability one was always active. It was set to keep away those who were suspicious or knew of his origins. A thief on the run wouldn't have collided into someone like that right when Orion happened to turn around; at least, not normally. Orion raised his voice and pointed at the girl.

"She's helping the thief!"

Security guards appeared and began to converge on the two. Meanwhile, Orion performed a quick military about face and sprinted off through the crowds, pausing only momentarily at the start of his run to hop over the black-jack table and then proceed full sprint towards the exit.

Out of the corner of his eye, Isaac could see the action unfolding behind him. Apparently there was some sort of theif. Not really any of his buisness. What was his buisness was that his friend Orion was bolting away.

"'Ey! Wait up!" he called, swinging himself over the black jack table to follow Orion. Catching up to Orion, he looked at him. "What was that all about mate? Paniked much are ya?"

*Dorororododorodoroo*

Remi recognised that as a call straight from HQ. The peculiar ringtone caught the attention of several in the cafe, but it didnt matter. Swiftly, Remi flicked open her cell phone and placed in next to her ear.

Talk.

It's Paul here. We got two potential mutants. Head over to the airport and rendevous with Josie to go get them. Watch out. They're dangerous.

Alright. Time to earn my pay. Ill drop off my pizzas on my way back. Get my guns ready.

What!? Your guns weight a tonne! And MORE pizzas?

Don't worry. Its not gonna be a bomb.

Flipping her cell off, Remi downed her coffee and grabbed the three pizzas before making a dash toward her office before going straight down into the office. Despite his whining, Paul had her shotgun and her Casull ready... as well as her Koenigsegg CCXR car key ready.

Oh, you so know my mind. Here's your pizza.

Remi gunned the powerful car out of the carpark and screeched onto the streets of Manchester and tore through the traffic to get to the airport and slid into a spot closest to the private area. Time was wasting as she zoomed through customs and such and into a Gulfstream V before tearing off towards where the Mutants were suspected to be.

It didnt take long before Remi landed and got a speedy car towards the casino in which she spotted Josie. Quickly jumping out, Remi caught up to Josie.

Whoo whee. Almost late to this party too. So... where's the ... uh.... potentials?

"Thief? Aww, this is not my day ..." grumbled Josie.

Security guards approached her, but she easily dispatched them across the room. She ducked, kicked one in the shins and punched his stomach into the others, who went flying into a slot machine. The impact caused several coins to pour out and distracted the others, who only desired to take the money rather than watch the drama unfold.

Josie saw them run over to the blackjack table. She was about to sprint over there when Remi had made it.

"By the blackjack table," she answered immediately. "You take the one I don't get. I'm pissed off that I was accused of helping a thief ... come on! I'm all for justice!"

She was about to go after Orion when she heard Isaac's voice ... from across the room. It was very strange since she didn't need to be close to him to hear his voice. In fact, his voice wasn't the only one she heard.

The screams of the excited people fighting over the money at the slot machine caused Josie to feel pain in her ears. This wasn't what she imagined how collecting two potential mutants for MERIT would be like that. Focusing on Orion's breathing to mute out everyone else, Josie ran towards him.

"I'm not here to hurt you!" she yelled whilst running.

"I'm not here to hurt you!"

Shit, she got rid of those guards fast. Since he hadn't heard any gun-fire, he assumed she was a mutant. Orion paused only briefly to voice his worries to Isaac, fake as they are now.

"LIKE I HAVEN'T HEARD THAT BEFORE! Sorry Isaac. It seems that people who don't like me have caught up to me. They may come after you too, for associating. Run. I'll catch up with you later if I can and explain."

How the hell she managed to pick him out, Orion didn't get, but he didn't plan on finding out. Instead, he decided to use his second ability. Still running, he raised his right hand and snapped his fingers.

It wasn't an ordinary snap. It was impossibly high-pitched, and also impossibly loud. Orion had amplified it with his sound manipulation, turning a harmless snap into a weapon that shattered windows; indeed, the glass windows to some slot machines shattered as the high-pitched noise hit them. The sound was heard throughout the casino, and Orion charged out the door as patrons began clutching their heads in pain, milling about uselessly as a clear path presented itself to him, closing behind him as he ran to block off pursuit.

Karma. Gotta love it.

"Whatever mate. You know where I work, And thats probably the safest spot." Isaac peeled off, makign for one of the back exits. As he neared the glass door, an shattering snap rang out, cracking the thick glass doors and forced the people around him to their knees. Painful for him as well but thankfully his long hair muffled the sound somewhat; enought to let him keep going.

"Sounds like someone's a mutant too..." he said playfully. Reaching a hand up to the cross around his neck, he pulled a long needle from it, almost a spear. Throwing it at the door, it shattered and jumped through and over the broken glass littering the floor. As he ran he checked his pockets. Phone, ipod, wallet, keys. Good. All that was up in his room were his clothes and he could just make more or grab some at his shop.

Which was where he was headed to now. Racing to his car, he pressed the button on his keys to unlock the door. Jumping in, he sped off. Pulling out his phone, he dialled his shop's number. Not waiting for a voice to say somethign he started speaking.

"Amy, or whoever this is, get ready to close up shop when I get there. Tell the rest they get their full day's pay for today. And for the love of House, don't ask questions." He hung up and kept driving. As he drove a thought came to him. "Maybe theyre waiting...." he muttered. He was ready for that though.

Reaching into the glove compartment, he pulled out a small booklet. "Let them come. I have a few surprises in store."

You take the one I don't get. I'm pissed off that I was accused of helping a thief ... come on! I'm all for justice!"

Right. Ill get the other then. Jeez, why the bloody hell did they run....?

Remi ran after the one that went through a glass door he broke via his powers. She followed him back out of the casino and back onto the roads where he jumped into a car and sped off. Not one to lose, Remi jumped into hers, which she luckily kept unlocked and stepped on it. For all she knew, if she lost him, then it was going to be very hard to find him back. Her Audio A8 sped through the traffic at break neck speed and managed to get within a car length from her target. Remi tried to futiley shout out at him.

Stop! Why the hell are you running? We need to discuss something urgent with you! Stop for the love of God!

Isaac gritted his teeth as he drove, barely hearing his follower's words. "Why do I run? If you were MERIT you would simply have approached me. The same for the Black Hand. That or they would simply take me. So you're someone else. And if I'm going to deal with you, it better that I do it with home field advantage."

Swinging into the employee parking, he caught the last person coming out. "'Ello Amy. Don't worry about the pay for today. You'll see it on your next paycheck." 'I hope there is another paycheck,' he added in his head.

Rushing in, he locked the door behind him, fixing all the safety locks. His employees already knew what to do witht he front door, but he checked it just to be sure. "Good, good. And now for the fun." His pranks could easily be deadly. And there were multiple ones set up all over the shop.

His favorite was the drapes that covered each of the windows. He had sewn flame into all of them and the intance the lock was broken they emitted an intense heat as if you were next to a wildfire.

He would be ready for it though. There was a reason there was a steel bar for a door handle. Grabbing it, he pulled on it. A huge sheet of steel came out. Wrapping it around himself for a quick size, he sewed his flamethreads into it, making the outer radiate heat the inner impervious to heat. A quick cloak, working like cloth with the strength of steel.

Reaching for the black iron column he kept near the door as a decorative, he pulled out a needle exactly his height and about as thick as two of his fingers. Spinning it in his hand he smiled.

"Now I'm ready and this shop is an enormous trap. Just try and get me now!" He laughed.

OOC: short one so you can start throwing whatever you want at Remi.

At the very least, Isaac, or so the profile said, didnt try to lose her like the other mutant. Rather, he locked himself in a store as if in a seige. Remi had enough field experience to know that she wasn't going to waltz in there willy nilly and have a cup of tea and chat about summer nothings.

Oh Jesus.... this is going to get nasty...

Remi checked that all her guns were in a safe position and walked up to the door. She did NOT want to get into a fight. After all, MERIT exsisted for the good of other Mutants. Her mind wandered slighty as to what she might expect and accidentally broke the door of the shop and stumbled in.

Woah!

It is never easy when taking damage, even when Remi expects it. The sudden hit of heat caught her by surprise and began to burn her, but Remi already pushed it aside. As fast as the initial burn hit her, her powers kicked in and what she now felt was just the air being relatively hot. Her suit, depsite being made to take damage, was smelling a bit burnt.

Nuts.... another suit wasted. Mr Ashwood, can you cease this please. I do not intend to harm you. I am from MERIT. This is unprovoked hostile attack.

Josie, once more, heard everything that Orion said. Everything around her seemed even more intimate. So he intended to run. Sensing that a new power was dawning, she decided to take advantage of it. Her nose picked up his scent and she concentrated on that only.

As she continued to run after him, the amplified sound of windows shattering damaged her ears, causing them to bleed. But Josie being Josie carried running. Her MERIT training had taught her to keep on chasing her target and her healing may have given her a slight advantage with some heightened endurance.

She saw Orion taking the clear path, knowing he'd take the easy way out. Josie carried on after him, despite it blocking her off from him. She felt the adrenaline rush pumping through her body. It felt like she was on fire when chases went on as long as this.

Not caring what damage breaking through the obstacles would do for her body, Josie pushed herself against them. She broke through it, but not without a hefty price. Her arms were bleeding, but despite the agonising pain, she carried on after Orion.

"We can carry this on all night, but I'm still not going to hurt you!" Josie shouted out after him. Her wounds were slowly healing, but the pace she was running at wouldn't be the same as before until she was one hundred percent fit again.

"I'm afraid I can't do that little girl." The disturbing tones of HAL flowed through the shop. Isaac had always loved that movie and made it his goal to mimic HAL perfectly. "You break into my shop. Chase me down. And force me away from my leisure. You are not MERIT."

In the back of the room where Isaac stood, hidden in the shadows, was the control panel that worked each of his pranks/traps. Pressing one, he watched at a sheet of cloth fell from the hole in the cieling above the intruder.

No ordinary cloth, this had the weight of several boulders sewn into it And to handle it, the floor below had rubber and concrete infused with it to absorb the impact. Normally just something to make people panic when they came in the first day, this prank was now lethal.

"We can carry this on all night, but I'm still not going to hurt you!"

The fuck? This girl was still after him? What was she made of, diamond or something? Regardless, Orion couldn't turn the volume up any louder: if he did, he would do more then just shatter ear-drums momentarily. And he wasn't much of a riot provoker.

"Just leave me the hell alone!"

As he ran, he passed by a wooden-figure holding a sign. That will do. Outside of his own home, he rarely got the chance to use his animation ability. Here, however...

The figure jumped to cover Orion, swinging the sign in a two-handed grip at his pursuer's head. As the figure had more strength then any normal human, this would hurt. Meanwhile, Orion got lucky and found a motorcycle. It lacked keys, but that was okay. Hopping in, he didn't bother even figuring out how to hot-wire it. He was just smart and used his animation ability to start the engine. After that, driving was a piece of cake.

And so he left the casino and his pursuer behind, momentarily at least, not even realizing exactly WHO's bike he had just taken...

OOC: Shadow, are you a,llowed to take Crest's bike? It is her character's stuff y'know.

"You break into my shop. Chase me down. And force me away from my leisure. You are not MERIT."

What in the world are you talking about? Your friend caused a riot, calling my colleague a thief before bolting. In actual fact, its his fault that a scene even had to occur. Right now, we could actually still be sitting in the casino having a damn chat rather than me getting burnt.

Remi was definitely not following. Josie had just walked into the casino and all of a sudden, Orion called her a thief and bolted out in the other direction. Her training screamed at her that he either was a massive troublemaker or that he is hiding something that he cant let MERIT know. Regardless, he was Josie's responsibility. She took another step forward and instantly, a sheet fell onto Remi...except said sheet weight extremely heavy. Remi's leg buckled under the weight and since she did not expect it, was crushed. There was a silent few seconds.

Wow.... been a while since i last got crushed.

Remi lifted the sheet as if it is... sheets and tossed it off her. There was a slight crackling noise as the bones that broke knitted itself back together. It was getting a bit old now.

Alright. You see me hostile. I'll just stand right here. I won't go in further. So let's talk. In fact, if you don't like me in your store, ill step outside. Just that it wouldnt be such a great idea spouting info about mutants in public. We would like to see if you would cooperate with MERIT.

Well well. So Beth had arrived, had she? Another tool for her wider goals. She didn't feel much for the girl, but it was always good to keep people onside, and a smile and a welcoming ear were also wonderful weapons for keeping her tools faithful.

So on that train of thought, she walked across the room and opened the door, a perfect false smile on her face as she embraced Beth. "Beth. It's been too long. Much too long. Can I offer you tea or coffee? perhaps something stronger?" She detached the hug and moved to the papers on her desk, promptly shoving them off her desk to land on the floor.

How Amelia loved this image of eccentricity and affection. It was absorbed and believed by almost everyone in the Black Hand. She didn't know what Beth thought of her. And so long as she remained a tool, she didn't care.

Beth would be needed before long.

- Beth -

Ever eccentric, Amelia hugged Beth the instant she opened the door. It has came to a point where Beth was no longer startled, but instead wary. Before her was perhaps one of the most enigmatic figure, if not the most, in the Black Hand. Beth had heard rumors about her icy cruelty on the field many times before, and this only made her all the more wary.

Although she intended to punish the humans, she didn't actually plan as diabolically as Amelia did - in her opinion, that is. Nevertheless, it was her belief that Amelia was vital to furthering the ultimate objective of the Black Hand, hence Beth herself never quite complained, choosing instead to submit to this strange eccentricity.

Beth smiled in response a smile of amusement. Picking up all the paper that Amelia had shoved off the table, she laughed softly as she placed them all on the table again.

"Oh, indeed it has been long, I'm good, though, it should be me asking what you would like... So, what would it be, whisky?"
