[RP]The Unwritten Legend: The Beginning

OoC: Long post >.<

IoC:
Several warriors, including the group Julius had met before, had gathered to discuss the recent events affecting Willowbark. Among the many random inquiries of the townspeople there were the ones alluding to witchcraft, some of them even mentioned the town being cursed by The Devil himself whilst others simply blamed the war raging through these lands. According to old folklore, the times of the end of days would be heralded by great bloodshed, chaos, ruin and all sorts of unimaginable omens.

-"I bet the others already made it here..."-
Julius thought as he opened the dual doors wide drawing some attention from several people. He smirked and then entered the building passing by several tables and through some of the crowded areas of the bar. One would think the bar would be near empty at this time but due to the recent events, not many of the survivors feel safe enough to simply go and sleep.

Julius then approached the counter and called the bartender (a middle age man sporting a long mustache) who happened to be cleaning the beer glassware. Julius made a gestured with his hand, pointing up with his index finger.

-"One beer this way please..."- The bartender looked suspiciously at Julius, but complied to the request by passing a large glass of beer to Julius. -"This one's on the house..."- said the bartender before leaving to attend other customers.

The bounty hunter then turned his attention to the group he meet early at the forest. He dragged one of the chairs towards the table and then sat next to them.

-"Well never expected you people to come. Oh now I know what you are... fefnirs...who could I have not noticed. Oh well, nowadays you don't know who's who anymore..."- he commented as he took small sips from his beer. -"Alright, time to get to business. First things first, my name is Julius, you may call me Jay if you wish. You already know what I do for a living so we can skip that... anyways..."- Julius spoke with a serious tone as he laid the bottle of beer on the table. He then pulled an old ragged map of the region. He then unfolded the map all over the table. The map had several marks on it as well as notes written on the corners.

-"This my friends, is a map of the region. As you can see it has several marks in red ink. These are the areas where disasters have occurred. Some time ago, all sorts of beasts starting sprouting out of nowhere. Sure we happened to have these attacks in the past, but not so many and with so little time separating them. Now..."- Julius pulled his knife and then stabbed the map in a point representing a mountainous region.

-"Not just monsters, now we have invading forces from the north attacking towns, villages and sometimes even big cities. Some of them had retaliated and successfully fended off these attacks while others weren't so lucky. Who leads them and for what purpose they are here are details beyond my knowledge. I intended to gather some information here and there when I stumbled across our recent pest problem. What intrigues me the most is that after attacking the town for so many hours the beasts simply ceased to attack and disappeared... and I didn't even get a chance to track down the source."- Julius pulled his knife and placed it back in its sheath beneath his coat.

Julius was then interrupted by a third fefnir. This one was different because she had more human characteristics than the other two.

-"I heard both sides of the conversation you three had outside, and I'm in the same boat as these two, I travel a lot. I hurried into the town when I heard things getting ugly ahead as I was making my way through that forest. Now that the immediate threat seems to have pretty well been dealt with for the time being, I will become bored if I don't have something to do real soon, ideally some good fighting action."-

The unknown female fefnir [BRIANNA] commented as she approached the group. Surprised by the amount of fefnir who curiously happened to be here by sheer chance, Julius gestured with his left right hand and then lead it towards a nearby chair. -"Have a sit. We still don't know what we are facing against so any help would be appreciated."-

Julius then returned his attention to the former discussion as he kept explaining the situation. -"I am sure the cause of the attacks must be nearby. Usually these beasts don't attack in large numbers, and hellhounds especially require someone to grant them power to sustain their physical forms in this plane. Hellhounds belong to another realm. The source was not obviously killed, but rather forced to retreat, hence why the hellhounds didn't disappeared immediately. My best bet would be that whoever summoned them here must be close... very close. I was about to investigate the forest to search for summoner's whereabouts when I found you people. I thought you had something to do with it at first, but then I realized you were as clueless on the subject as I was..."-

Julius made a brief paused to finish his beer then he left the empty glass on the table next to the map. -"We must make haste. I've heard the invading army had stationed a small unit somewhere inside the depths of the forest. The group isn't that large, I guess they could be around fifteen...maybe thirty, but it will be better if we go unnoticed. If we can't, we could go by the old divide and conquer and take them on. Also, we must also take in count the monsters the summoner could be conjuring to divert our pursuit..."- Julius then picked the map, folded it, and finally placed it back inside his backpack. -"Now, who wants to go on a little hunting trip? I understand if you back off...not many people would risk their necks but we must also understand that all of these could be part of something much more bigger than us. Things will get worst, so we either fight or we consume copious amounts of alcohol and we indulge in sex and decadence while awaiting the inevitable blast wave. As much as I will hate myself later for this, I vote for fighting. Oh but once this is all over we all go on a bender. Besides, who knows what kind of rewards we might find in our little quest..."- Julius said in a slightly more juvenile tone. He then shifted his attention to the male wolf who had black and red fur patterns and noticed his uneasy and serious behavior.

-"Loosen up pal [CRIMSON WOLF], you are as festive as a cemetery. With that serious look on your face you'll get half the town on our asses with torches and pitch forks. I know what will lighten you up..."- Julius turned towards the counter and clapped his hands to draw the attention of the bartender. -"Hey, another cold one here. Then send the bill to this table. Toss it towards me, I'll catch it."- The bartender sighed as he rolled his eyes. He then reached a bottle of beer and tossed it towards Julius. Julius caught the bottle in mid air and then he placed it before the male wolf with the black and red fur.

-"Alright, any questions? I suggest we rest, prepare, stock on supplies, make sure the town is safe and then off we go to our little expedition. I will be by the forest entrance by sunset. Why sunset? If those goons are patrolling, then we need as little sunlight as possible. Make it harder for them to spot us. If anyone doesn't want to participate then stay at home all nice and cosy while the big boys..."-notices the other two female fefnirs and rephrases his statement to avoid sounding sexist-"and big girls take care of the dirty work. Well I am off. Whoever needs me I'll be by the Inn. Later..."- Julius stood up, bid farewell and then approached the bartender. He pulled several gold coins and left them on the counter before leaving the bar.

[-EVENT-]
  • Crimson Wolf might find an useful item if he investigates the areas were several hellhounds were last attacking in the town. The orphanage seems a nice place to begin with...[hint: bag of gold or anti-demon charm]
  • Strike might stumble across Julius as the bounty hunter is on his way to the Inn...
  • Zynthreo might find something handy at the weapon shop. [new weapon you would like to add to your inventory]
  • Leo will get a reward if he revisits the Orphanage. [Hint: He can retrieve the sword once wielded by the possessed swordsman he killed. The sword still has traces of dark energy and it might help the group in "some way".]

OOC: Small post is small, creativity is hating on me :sad3:

As everyone left the area, Strike and Leo were the only two left there.

"Well, oh mighty savior, since you're done jumping into other people's conversations... See ya" with that, Strike shouldered his gun and walked off, leaving Leo on his own, being slightly tired from the excitement that night, he headed straight to the inn and booked a room. "put it on Julius' tab, he should be here soon..." with that, Strike took his room key and headed to the room on the far left from the staircase, heading inside he laid down on his bed after leaving his gun on the floor beside the bed.

Leo, being left outside, shrugged his shoulders and sighed deeply. He could hear a strange rustling in the forest but ignored it for the night, the children were his priority, not investigating every little sound. With that in mind he walked down the hill and signaled the children to come out from hiding, with the threat over for the night he walked them to the inn and after leaving some money with the innkeeper he left the children to his care as he walked outside again.

Being outside, he suddenly felt a sinister presence nearby, perhaps something came out of the forest? Following the dark energy he found himself outside the Orphanage, maybe the swordsman was not as dead as he appeared, slowly opening the door he began to slowly look inside...

After Crimson Wolf sat down, surely enough Julius, as he had introduced himself, ended up having a drink set in front of him, which after a moment he pushed a little distance further from himself. All the while he had been seated, he looked as if his mind was elsewhere, but he was hearing what was being said.

He was surprised that Julius even knew of his species, he would contemplate asking how he learned of their existence, but not now... Once he left, making his way to the Inn, then Crimson Wolf had somewhere he wanted to look around first, before heading there along with Sophia.

"Well you two, I'm heading straight for that Inn, the thought of staying up much longer, waiting bored for sunrise to come isn't very exciting," Brianna announced, stroking her fingers through the fur along the side of her head before continuing, "guess next I'll see you is out by the forest entrance at sunset."

As she got up from her seat to make her way towards the door, she went over closer to Crimson Wolf first, to say to him personally a few words, speaking in a softer, quieter voice.

"Hope we can get to know each other better, perhaps on a more personal level some time. You seem different from the others, I like that about you." Brianna dragged her fingers gently from the far side of his head, across his chin and to the near side, where she had been speaking to him from.

As soon as she began to brush through his fur, he closed his eyes, and enjoyed it despite being somewhat nervous about the fact of her coming up to him and doing this, a complete stranger. But to him she was very appealing in appearance, and at the moment she did this he felt especially attracted to her.

Before he got to opening his eyes, she was not just on her way to the door, but had just gone out it. "She was just hitting up on you, wasn't she?" Sophia acknowledged, as she had watched Brianna go over to him, and faintly heard what she was saying to him.

"She was..." he answered, as he had a longing look on his face as he stared at the door for a moment, before standing up then looking at Sophia to tell what he had planned to do.

"I heard some noise coming from the Orphanage earlier, during the attack, going to check around there to see if anything interesting has turned up from the aftermath...then we go to the Inn, where I have to tell you something, and...apologize..." As he was getting close to finished speaking, his eyes were becoming watery, but he didn't want to be seen there like that, he immediately walked briskly towards the door to exit the building.

Once he got outside of the building, he let a tear begin to trickle down his face, but wiped it away with the back of his paw before his sister got outside, because he knows she doesn't like seeing him sad like this.

As she came, he acknowledged by saying "Good, you're here. Let's get going." just before continuing moving at a brisk pace once more, wanting to stay ahead of Sophia so that she couldn't see his face at this time.

She was beginning to feel a bit weird about how he was acting, "Crimson, something is wrong, you haven't been yourself lately. What's wrong?" she asked, as she was hustling to keep up with her brother.

Crimson, finally stopping to answer her, turned to face her as he replied "That's what I have to talk to you about at the Inn...Sophia..." She was able to now see the saddened face he had been hiding.

She felt sad just seeing him this way for a moment, "Oh, Wolf..." she spoke with already a sad tone, but to Crimson this wasn't the time or place for this, turning his head away, facing in the Orphanage's direction again, he told her "Please, not now...later..." as he started walking at a more casual pace than before, but still slightly faster than usual, he just wanted to get finished and get to the Inn at this point...

Upon arriving at the Orphanage, he skimmed through it fairly quickly, not closely examining all around every part of the building that was now in rough shape from the fight that had taken place there earlier.

Once Crimson found a bag of gold within the building, he was satisfied with this to move on from there and off to the inn. They actually didn't have money on them, so just a little bit out of this find would work just fine as payment.

After they arrived just outside of the inn, Crimson Wolf asked of her a small favor. "Could you get us the room...please...?" He wasn't in a stable mental state, and wasn't comfortable with going up to the counter to get a room to rest in until sunset.

Looking Crimson Wolf in the eyes, Sophia replied "Of course. Then you have to tell me what is bothering you so much..." before she and Crimson proceeded into the inn, her being ahead this time.

After booking a room, they went straight to their room without further delay. After tossing the bag of gold to a side, both of them sat down on the bed, Crimson near the foot of it, Sophia near the head of it.

(OOC: Play Crimson Wolf's Sad Theme Here)

Crimson Wolf's head hung low, as he began explaining and elaborating on why he hadn't been himself. "I...I am sorry for today Sophia...I've been keeping my emotions locked up inside of me too much...too long...many bad memories from the past have been haunting me to no end lately...if only they weren't real, I could just call them nightmares..."

Now they were to themselves, he opened up the now unbearable sorrow he had inside him, thinking back on all the death he witnessed in his past, tears in his eyes that would begin to slowly trickle down his face, at a faster pace as a new tear made it's way down the trail of wet fur the last created.

"My parents...our parents...killed before I was even a year old...then that pack of wolves that took me in and raised me from that day on...all killed many years later...both all because of me alone..." At this point Sophia rested her head on his shoulder gently, crying silently upon it as he grieved.

"And you...when I thought I was going to lose you...three years ago...sad as I am now, that was by far the saddest moment of my life...a rare moment I truly felt fear...strongly...for the life of the only family I have left...and this time I know for certain..."

After a short moment of pause, he slowly fell back onto the bed, while previously only tears were shed and speech in a sorrowful tone, he now cried out quietly, and briefly, before he announced "Sophia...I...have to lay down now..." as he got up and slowly walked around to the other side of it.

As he did, Sophia proceeded to lay down by her end of the bed, then once he got to his, he laid face down on the bed, with a paw over his face covering his eyes. The two would remain in bed until it was time to meet at the forest entrance with the others.

While Sophia laid silently in the bed from the start, Crimson Wolf sobbed quietly for around an hour longer before he would begin to fall asleep.

The quietness of the night felt quite unsettling as Julius roamed the streets of Willowbark. Several villagers have been taking counter measures in order to prevent another assault from those fiends. Strong men were posted at different positions of the village armed with what little weaponry they had.

Curious, Julius detoured towards the plaza which had a small ornamental fountain depicting an axe man taking down what it seemed to be a large feline. On that instant, Julius's attention was caught by a young boy armed with a short sword and a self made wooden shield. As he approached him, the boy drew back from him taking position to defend himself.

"Don't worry, I am not going to hurt you. It's alright." Julius spoke gently as he knelt on one knee and placed his right hand on the boy's shoulder. The boy lowered his weapons and gazed at the floor with a sad look on his face.

"Sorry...it's just... that you look just like him..." the boy remarked with a trembling voice as he shifted his gaze towards Julius's eyes. -"but now I know you aren't. You don't have those evil eyes...yours are more... gentle...I am sorry. Alright I'll be going! Gotta protect my home..." -the boy apologized as he lowered his weapons. The boy then turned around and ran towards a small house to his left.

Julius's face was expressionless as he raised back and resumed his way towards the Inn. The boy said I looked like him... but could it really be HIM? No, we killed him. I saw him die... but if it's not him then who? Julius pondered as he arrived at the Inn's doorsteps.

Julius was quite surprised to see that the Inn was fairly in good conditions after the town was attacked. As he entered the Inn, Julius spotted the Innkeeper almost falling asleep on the counter. Not wanting to take much of his time, Julius intended to make his registration process a brief one. Julius dropped his bags on the floor as he opened the registration book he could not fail to notice his name already signed off next to another one he did not recognized.

"Strike...oh that son of a..." Julius muttered as he suddenly remembered. The marksman must have probably told the Innkeeper to add it to his tab.

"How much?" Julius asked as he reached his bag of gold. The innkeeper looked at the logs to see how much Julius owed him. "Those will be 150 pieces..." the innkeeper replied with a sleepy voice.

"Son of a ....fine. Here give me the key to my room. I am dead tired..." Julius pulled 150 pieces from his gold bag and then grabbed the room key. He then picked up his bags and went upstairs.

"Room 201..." Julius said as he stared at the door of his room. He pulled the key from his pocket and put it inside the key hole. The doorknob made a distinctive sound of being unlocked as Julius's hand grabbed the knob and turned it to open the door. He then locked the door behind him, dropped his bags on a corner and walked towards bed.
