((Here is the opening of the Village of Dali. The intent of this RP is to provide a space for people to bring in characters and try them out, do things if they want, or just stop posting. Because the focus of this is on the setting, and not on a plot surrounding specific player characters, things won't/shouldn't be dependent on people posting regularly. As a result, rules will be a little different than a normal play by post RP, to help facilitate the unique style of play it's intended for.

In addition to the standard respect each other/no god-modding/other rules, here's the rundown:

1. When you first begin posting/start posting with a new character, please include a tiny blurb on the character OOC (I prefer the (()) to mark OOC comments, but anything works as long as it's clear that it's out of character). If you want to link a larger write up on a character, stick it in the [Discussion] (Currently Undecided Location) thread or put a link to it after your blurb.

2. Please use characters that work in FF9. Obviously, the point is to use original characters, and feel free to use races that aren't only from 9 (considering how many races there are in 9, one more won't break the bank), but try to tweak characters to make them appropriate to the 9 setting.

3. If people stop posting, some retconning is allowed to avoid being stuck mid-conversation/action. If you're going to be gone more than a week, please note it in the [Discussion] (Currently Undecided Location) or in an OOC blurb in your last post before you leave. If you don't do this and take over a week posting, other players have every right to assume your character wandered off/wasn't there in the first place.

4. Feel free to make some assumptions regarding NPCs and their actions/dialogue. I'll be here on a regular basis to respond, but you shouldn't need me for every little thing. To help with this, I'm including some minor notes on the setting and characters in this first post.

5. Have fun, and interact with NPCs and other players as much as possible. This is all about using your original characters and getting a feel for them, so don't feel self-conscious. This thread is for you as players, and not just for the hosts to tell a story (granted, we're going to do that too, but it's not the main point).

All that being said, here's the setting/character information.

Village of Dali:

  • The Village:
    • Shop
      • Weapons/Armour Shop
      • The shelves are always well stocked with equipment, and more arrives from Alexandria about once a week (including some rare items, now and again). The equipment is nothing to be impressed by, but neither are the monsters that roam the Nolrich Heights.
  • Mayor's House - Connected to the Windmill
    • A nice home, befitting of the man in charge of Dali, the doors are always open, but the mayor is rarely accepting visitors. A small statue of Queen Brahne sits on the mayor's desk, and next to it the mayor often has a mug of imported coffee.
  • Windmill
    • Though not in use anymore, the windmill is still in decent repair and still spinning in the constant breeze that moves over the Nolrich Heights. The parts show wear from years of use, but a layer of dust is starting to settle on the gears. Yaff is usually sitting on the access hatch to some of the underground mechanisms for the the mill.
  • Inn
    • A small, quaint establishment, it seems to be the only place in town (aside from the tiny crop field) where an adult can be found doing work during the day. A small fire place is almost always going, and Hal the Innkeeper keeps a jug of iced tea (or a pot of coffee, depending on the time of day) full for any guests that might wander in. There's only a single room with four beds, but the rarity of visitors to Dali means that the four beds are normally more than enough. Anyone who rents the room finds that the bed has a complimentary potion and antidote set on it each day when the room is cleaned.
  • Crop Field/Garden
    • The actual crop fields have largely been converted into a landing area for airships and all that's left is a small garden tended to by an Old Lady. Oglops try to eat the crops, and have ruined any leftover crops that started on their own in the original fields. The garden is a nice place to watch the occasional airship arrive or take off, and has a hatch leading to what was once a storage area underground where the harvest would be stored.
  • Airship Field
    • Formerly farm fields, the crops have been neglected, and what hasn't been eaten by oglops has been choked out by grass or other weeds. The main ship seen here is Dali's own cargo ship, but now and again Alexandrian vessels will set down and drop off supplies of varying sorts. The arriving supplies help restock the shops, but mostly seem to be strange containers taken down into the old crop underground storage. The main export seems to be barrels taken out of the crop storage, but no one seems to know what happens between containers going down and barrels coming back up.
  • Bar
    • During the day, the bar largely functions as a restaurant and medicine shop, but at night several adults show up out of nowhere and fill the bar. Drinking and singing is not uncommon at night, and the mood seems to be generally cheerful as long as outsiders aren't present. Even when outsiders are present, as long as they have a bit to drink and don't ask too many questions they're welcome to join in on the merriment.
    • *Menu*
      1. Black ale: 5 Gil
      2. White ale: 8 Gil
      3. Red wine: 7 Gil
      4. White wine: 9 Gil
      5. Water: 1 Gil
      6. Gysahl liqueur: 11 Gil
      No underage drinking allowed!
      Cash only
      * We sell medicine

  • Underground:
(Currently only accessible by adult citizens of Dali)
    • Black Mage Factory
      • Set up only a couple of weeks ago, production is already in full swing. The complex spans from under the Windmill to just outside the garden on the edge of town. A large machine sucks in mist from a tunnel that connects to the lower part of the continent and produces eggs. The eggs head down into another strange machine, where they are hatched. Out of the hatcher comes inactive Black Mages which are sent down the line and packaged into coffin-like boxes by a third and final machine. In addition to placing the coffins into barrels, the adults spend the day working on the three machines to keep them in top working order.
    • Chocobo Stables/Well
      • The village's Chocobos are kept in the underground stable, the original stable torn down to make room for the airship field. Three chocobos can be found here, taken up above-ground on the weekends to get some time out in the fields, wandering about.
    • Storage
      • Dozens of strange boxes fill two large rooms, and pieces of wood from opened and emptied boxes sit against the walls.
    • Door to the mist
      • A large door holds back the mist that rises up through the tunnels, and keeps fiendish creatures gifted with Black Magic from getting into the factory and the village.

  • Surrounding Area: Nolrich Heights:
    • South Gate
      • The connection between Alexandria and Lindblum, a guard from nearby Treno mans the gate at all times. Regular visits from workers from Vega, a Treno item shop mean that travellers can get what they need even if the gate is closed down. The proper papers are required to pass, and smuggling anything between Alexandrian and Lindblum territory is considered a very serious offence.
    • Observatory Mountain
      • The old man Morrid lives up on Observatory Mountain, keeping things there in working order. The mountain acts as a guide for airship captains in the area, helping them gain their bearings (especially on their way to South Gate, after the long trip over the Mist).
    • Ice Cavern
      • The path is cold as an eternal winter, some strange magical force keeping icy winds blowing through the tunnel at all times. The only reliable path up from the Mist, extremely lost travellers will rarely arrive from the Cavern, though the monsters likely take far more travellers than make it through. A single Moogle makes his home somewhere in the Cavern, and if someone is willing to brave the cold and the monsters, the Ice Cavern is beautiful.

Dali Characters:
  • Village Citizens:
    • Mayor Kapu
      • Kapu rarely leaves his home, and is less than welcoming to people outside of the Village residents. He is brother to the Innkeeper, Hal, and their rivalry leads to somewhat bitter feelings towards each other. He's often got one of the village adults meeting with him, and will quickly send any outsiders back out of his home.
    • "Snot-nosed" Gudo
      • A bratty kid, he spends most of his time running around the village, playing with Yacha and Marin. Gudo is fascinated by the Black Mages being built under the town, and takes interest in anyone that comes through town and knows how to use magic. His father, the mayor, has been too busy for him lately, so he's getting into more trouble than usual.
    • "Pasty" Yacha
      • A pest like his friend Gudo, Yacha also runs around all day. Unlike Gudo, he is terrified of the Black Mages, and wants things to go back to how they used to be. Now and again Yacha can be found helping out the Old Lady in the garden, driving oglops off from the crops or running to grab her supplies and tools from in town.
    • "Bratty" Marin
      • Marin can be found playing with Yacha and Gudo about half of the time. She loves to sneak down underground and spend time with the chocobos, only to get chased back out by the adults when they find her.
    • Innkeeper Hal
      • Hal, always inferior to his older brother, the mayor, is the only adult still running his own shop. He wishes that things could go back to how they were, since even as a small farming community they used to have more visitors. Dali was once a nice calm stop-off for travelers from Lindblum or Treno to Alexandria, but in the last couple weeks things have become uncomfortable enough for visitors that they aren't stopping by as often. Hal is frustrated with the current situation and wants nothing to do with the Black Mages. Due to the lack of visitors, Hal is spending more and more time sleeping on the job.
    • Shopkeeper Eve
      • Eve, a younger girl, spends her days running her parent's item shop, keeping the shelves stocked and clean. She does her best to keep an eye on the three kids during the day, and is warm and welcoming to visitors. Her knowledge of the equipment she's selling is limited, but she tries her hardest to help out anyone that comes through.
    • "Dutiful Daughter" Slai
      • Her father runs the local bar in the evening, and it's up to Slai to prepare things for the busy nights during the day. She has a bad habit of sleeping in late, and consequently has to work hard and fast to get things ready. She's a slacker by nature, but almost always has things ready for when the adults get back from their difficult day's work.
    • Yaff
      • Yaff is a standard teenage boy: he does his best to sneak away from what he should be doing (guarding the hatch to the underground) to talk to girls instead. He pops into both the shop and the bar regularly, flirting with both the girls.
    • Old Lady Durilda
      • Durilda thinks that the Black Mage production is a terrible and dangerous idea, and keeps working on the small crop patch that is left. Unfortunately, her years are catching up with her, and she can barely handle even the garden herself, often getting Yacha to help her.
  • Observatory Mountain:
    • Morrid
      • Morrid maintains the Dali cargo ship and the equipment on Observatory Mountain. He lives outside of town in solitude, enjoying his hermit-like lifestyle. Not terribly personable, he ranges from disinterested (when he's recently had coffee) to downright rude.
      • Morrid is a huge fan of coffee and has recently decided he wants to try blends from regions all over the world. He's currently looking for: Alexandrian, Cleyram, Trenan, Lindblum, Burman, Kirman, and Moccha coffee.
  • South Gate:
    • Guard
      • There's always a guard working at the South Gate walking path, but the tiny slit that makes conversation possible makes it impossible to tell just who is working there. All of the guards seem very dedicated to their duty, and carefully check over any paperwork allowing passage through the gate.
    • "Part-time Worker" Mary
      • Mary works at Vega, an item shop in Treno. She often runs behind on her regularly scheduled visits to the South Gate. She rarely has any customers, and spends a lot of time chatting with the Guard on duty.
  • Ice Cavern
    • Mois (Moogle)
      • Mois makes his home in a nice open area in the Ice Cavern. For some unknown reason, no monsters make their way into his section of the cave, so he spends a lot of his time relaxing and enjoying the cold (his fur is thicker than a normal Moogle's, so he can't stand warm or even moderate weather). Mois has a legendary quick temper, and swears like a sailor when upset. Fortunately, he rarely has visitors, so few people are subjected to his mood swings.))

The sun rises on another day in the calm Village of Dali. The cargo ship has just returned from a run to Alexandria, and adults are unloading containers into the old crop storage doors.

In the village proper, Eve begins unpacking the new shipment that came in on the cargo ship, and Hal shifts from sleeping in his bed to sleeping at his desk.

For the third week in a row the village is mostly devoid of life, the old crop field turned airship field emptying of adults as soon as they unload everything. Children play out in the town, young adults run the establishments (aside from Innkeeper Hal, the one adult), and the adults are no where to be seen.

Gently, the wind was tousling the green lively grass. It burst through the fields, raising envelopes of blossoming flowers. If things had been normal, it would have been a perfect year for growing grain or any of the other plants. Without any doubts, the crop could have been the biggest in the recent years. But things had changed in Dali, indeed. Not just in Dali, but everywhere in the world known as Gaia. Those changing times made this particular man leave his homeland and venture to places he had never heard about.
About a metre and fifty centimeters in height, this rather bulky and muscular man could have been mistaken with a teenager in shape. But he was far from his teenage years. A fully grown, around his forties with gray hair, his forehead hidden under wrinkles and rumples, dwarf he was. Extremely rare in this continent. He was wearing workers clothes and had a bit of a beard. His eyes were pitch-black, his nose rather edgy. And there was he, the dwarf, walking in the fields of Dali. Obviously exhausted from the long journey, he soon made it into the village.

'' RALLI-HO!" His voice was clean, clear and loud, but his accent rather lazy and heavy on the R. Add his mysterious looks to his raised hands and you had more than enough to scare the boys in front of the inn.
Yacha and Gusto had been staring this figure since they first noticed it far far in the fields. The closer it got, the more anxious they got. And then, it was in front of them, a weird being that was more than enough to scare them to bits. Without wasting a moment, they run for their lives. Also to tell the others.
But Dwaro Seeker, that was his name, didn't care much after seeing so many reacting to him in similar manners. On his right was a white rather big building and on it was a sign, inn. Feeling tired from the journey, he entered the building and met Hal, who was deep in sleep. Not wanting to wake him up, Dwaro threw couple of coins to the table and entered the bedroom.

Hal's eyes shot open as the door to the bedroom closed, and he hopped up, trying to gain his bearings.

No children... they weren't playing in here again, at least...

His hand set lightly on the handle to the bedroom, and nearly began to turn it before he noticed the light shining off the coins on his table. He walked over and inspected them.

Not local, but the metal is surely genuine... And from the looks of it, just this could buy out the whole room for a week. Wow, it's my lucky day.

Hal turned to the icebox and got out some cooled tea, and set about to mixing in some sugar. His joy was evident in his motions, hands moving quickly and lightly, preparing a beverage for the first guest he had seen in weeks.

Gudo and Yacha burst into the shop, knocking over boxes and scrambling over each other to get behind the counter and hide. Eve was out of their path, but the sudden sound and movement was enough to get her to drop the helm she was about to set on the counter. The helm hit the ground and bounced almost straight back up, Eve's reflexes catching the Rubber Helm even as she tried to figure out what had just happened.

The two boys popped up from behind the counter, shouting a garble of concern.

"He's weird.." "scary wrinkled face" "said something like rarali-ho"

Even as they tried to warn her of the terrifying man they encountered, she walked behind the desk and started pushing them back out of the shop.

"I'm sure, boys," she said, doing her best to be patient with them. "I'll be done stocking in a minute, so keep playing outside and I'll help you investigate in a little bit."

Soon as they were out, she closed the door behind them. The two boys pressed their backs to the door, eyes scanning the street for any signs of the foreigner.

"So this is Dali. Kind of reminds me of home." A man in his late teens said looking into the city from it's entrance. The man wore a black jacket with a white tank top, as well as black long pants and white shoes. His short and somewhat spiky hair flowing in the breeze.

"You've been spending way too much time back at Unity Islands."
A female, about the same age as the man walked in behind him, she had long black hair, and was wearing a blue and white halter top with a white long pants. "I would've thought you'd be more interested in places like Treno and Lindblum, Raven."

Raven walked forward into town, looking up at Dali's Windmill. "Like it or not, I've always been a country boy. You know that better than anyone Luna." Raven laughed, and Luna did the same shortly thereafter. Ever since their adventures last year, they've officially been dating. The pair walked across the small town, lookin around to see the sights of the small town. Luna saw a small Item shop and said to Raven "I'm going to the Item Shop, want to come?"

Raven thought about it for a moment, before finally saying, "Sure, what the heck." Raven and Luna headed for the Item Shop where they came across two small kids, who looked at them nervously as they entered the shop.

Though the new strangers were from out of town, they at least looked normal enough that Gudo and Yacha simply stood and stared instead of panicking once more. Once they finally entered the shop, the two boys bolted for the tavern, eager to spread the news of visitors to the village.

As the door opened, Eve did not even bother to look up from her work, continuing to set up items as she talked over her shoulder. "I told you boys that I'd be out in a minute, so please..." she paused as she took a moment to peek, and saw two new customers instead of the troublesome boys.

"I'm so sorry, I thought it was the two boys in town causing more trouble. I'm Eve, the shopkeeper here. Sorry for the mess, I just got in some new stock."

Eve looked at the two for a moment, noticing that both of them were slightly older than herself.

He's handsome, but I bet they're here together. Shame, the only boy around here is Yaff, and he's sure no looker.

Before the silence had a chance to become awkward, she started her usual set of questions for visitors. "So, what brings you two to Dali? Stop off on your way to Treno or Lindblum?"

Dwaro was sitting on the edge of the bed, letting his eyes run wild in the room.

'' Huh ... reminds meh me house in tae Conde Petie ae." Said the dwarf to himself with a funny accent, thinking of his house in Conde Petie.

'' No time to ple aroon, got tae meet tha local folk soon.'' Muttered Dwaro and stood up.

'' Ferst ting' ferst, pa'er work.'' He reached in to the small bag he had on his side and took out a few pages of paper and placed them on the table. Soon after he found a feather pen and started filling something similar to a form.

OOC: BTW, Dwaro's skin colour is a bit greenish, but nowhere near as green as many of the other dwarfs from Conde Petie.

"I told you boys that I'd be out in a minute, so please..."

"Hmm, kid trouble?" Luna thought as she saw the storekeeper started peeking.

"I'm so sorry, I thought it was the two boys in town causing more trouble. I'm Eve, the shopkeeper here. Sorry for the mess, I just got in some new stock."

"It's no problem. You were busy so you didn't know. My name is Raven and this is Luna."

"You don't mind if we browse around." Luna asked, Eve responded "I do not mind."

There was some silence, but Eve managed to break the silence before it became awkward. "So, what brings you two to Dali? Stop off on your way to Treno or Lindblum?"

"Nah, we just got back from Treno, had some card game tournament. Never again am I going to play Tetra Master. It's confusing." Raven said looking through the two types of daggers they had in stock.

"Raven decided to stick around here for a while, he says the calm, serene atmosphere reminds him of home somewhat." Luna added.

Hal stood around for a bit, and when the guest didn't show himself, he decided he should get a little nosy. After all, how would he attend to the mystery guest's needs if he stayed a mystery. He quietly moved up to the door, and listened for snoring, or something to indicate a presence inside. After a minute of nothing at all, he moved his eye to the keyhole, and took a look.

Is that man green? No... must be the light. But he certainly doesn't look like a normal human. Never seen anything like him before. And is he just writing? What on earth could he be scribbling away...

He stood up a fretted silently for a moment, worried what the others in town might think about having not just an outsider but some other sort of creature here.

Oh well, his money is good, and there's no way he'll find out about what they're doing, so I'm sure it'll be no trouble.

Hal paused for a moment, considering what to do, and finally knocked, but did so quietly. In a voice practiced to be just loud enough to hear, but not so loud as to wake, he spoke through the door.

"Sir or ma'am, if you're awake, I have some refreshments." He stood and waited to see if there was any response.

"Nah, we just got back from Treno, had some card game tournament. Never again am I going to play Tetra Master. It's confusing." Raven said looking through the two types of daggers they had in stock.

"I've never been to Treno before. I heard it's an incredible place, full of lords and ladies. I tried to learn Tetra Master before, but I just couldn't keep up with all the new cards they keep making. We don't get things like that out here very often, so I eventually just gave up on it." Eve looked at the weapons Raven was going through, and tried to remember if there were any other nicer daggers in her high quality stash. Nothing came to mind, so she just let him look without distracting him.

"Raven decided to stick around here for a while, he says the calm, serene atmosphere reminds him of home somewhat." Luna added.

"It is usually very calm and serene around here. The adults are away working all day, so things are very quiet and peaceful... Well, if you don't count the three kids at least. They always seem to be causing some sort of trouble."

She went back to opening boxes as she talked, carefully setting items onto the shelves. "Don't forget to stop by the inn and reserve a place to sleep for the night. Not that we ever have visitors since things changed around here" she almost froze, worried she had said too much, but hurried on to avoid drawing attention to it, "but Hal sleeps much of the day away, so you should try to catch him with his eyes open. It'll be nice to have people closer to my age around here, it's been a bit since I've had anyone to talk to during the day that was older than ten."

"Don't give up Eve, just keep trying at it. Maybe someday you can be Tetra Master Champion and go to Treno. You might even be famous around Dali."
Luna said, trying to encourage her, Raven on the other hand said, "Well, I'm not gonna say the same thing, but at least the food there is nice. Hahaha" He laughed, thinking back on it. He came a long way from being a kid, a Keyblade Apprentice from a backwater world.

"It is usually very calm and serene around here. The adults are away working all day, so things are very quiet and peaceful... Well, if you don't count the three kids at least. They always seem to be causing some sort of trouble."

"Well, that's how kids are. I remember when I used to be troublesome when I was their age."

"Uh-huh, used to be?"
Luna said as she took out a Silk Shirt from a shelf. Taking a liking to the shirt, she turned to Raven.

Raven stood up and rubbed the back of his head, "Well, what they don't know won't hurt me, will it princess?"

"Don't forget to stop by the inn and reserve a place to sleep for the night. Not that we ever have visitors since things changed around here." She paused, which led Luna to believe that they're hiding something, "...but Hal sleeps much of the day away, so you should try to catch him with his eyes open. It'll be nice to have people closer to my age around here, it's been a bit since I've had anyone to talk to during the day that was older than ten."

Luna, not looking suspicious said, "Alright, we'll go talk to Hal." Raven moved on to Hats, where he pulled out a nice Black Hat with a White feather on it. "Alright, we're ready to make our purchases."

Luna said, trying to encourage her, Raven on the other hand said, "Well, I'm not gonna say the same thing, but at least the food there is nice. Hahaha" He laughed, thinking back on it.

She smiled at the both of them, appreciating the encouragement from Luna, even if Raven wasn't as cheerful.

Luna, not looking suspicious said, "Alright, we'll go talk to Hal." Raven moved on to Hats, where he pulled out a nice Black Hat with a White feather on it. "Alright, we're ready to make our purchases."

Eve took the two items, folding the Silk Shirt neatly and placing it in a bag, and setting the Feather Hat on top of it. "Looks like it comes to 600 gil total. I'll even throw in a ten percent discount and take it down to 540 since it's been a bit since I've sold anything. Thank you so much for the business, I really needed it."

Eve handed them their items, obviously excited to have made a sale. Her first one in a full week. "The Feather Hat isn't bad, but the magical properties of the Silk Shirt are top notch."

Outside, when the couple exits to head for the Inn, a man that looks to be in his mid thirties is talking with the three children over by the well.

"Do you know if Kapu is awake yet? I really need to talk to him. There's a small problem with the-" upon seeing the outsiders, he instantly stops his sentence and stares. After a short moment, he heads straight for a large house next to the shop, eyes forward.

The only adult gone, Marin hides behind the well to stare at the newcomers from a distance. More adventurous, Gudo and Yacha start to inch their way towards Raven and Luna, oblivious to the fact that they are fully visible and in the middle of an open area. Ninja children, they sneak forward without an ounce of stealth, but heaps of effort to seem invisible.

"Sir or ma'am, if you're awake, I have some refreshments." Dwaro heard the well mannered voice that was just enough to be heard, but not loud enough to interrupt his work if he wanted to continue on it. But he was done with it, therefore Dwaro gave a final look to the papers and put them into his bag. Soon after, he stood up and walked to the door, opening it and seeing Hal in front of him. The dwarf raised his hands high up into the air and shouted.

'' RALLI- HO!" Once he noticed that the man in front of him was nervous and seemed a bit frightened, he smiled in a dwarfish way.

'' Sum ale frem ye if ye offerrr.'' Dwaro walked to the front of the fireplace and continued smiling to the human in front of him.

'' Ye wer' sleepin' beforr, so I thought not tae interrrupt ye. Thae gil was enough?'' Even his accent was weird enough to frighten one, but his greenish skin, small height and heavy muscular body build was more than enough to make people around him very nervous. Especially in a small place like Dali.

"Looks like it comes to 600 gil total. I'll even throw in a ten percent discount and take it down to 540 since it's been a bit since I've sold anything. Thank you so much for the business, I really needed it."

Raven smiled as he pulled out plenty of money from his pockets "You know, I'll pay you the full 600. Since there is not a lot of people, business must be slow, so you probably need the extra 60 gil more than we do."

Luna picked up the bag containing the items bought from Eve. As they left, Raven said, "You have a nice day, and I hope your business picks up."

As they left they saw two of the kids staring at both Raven and Luna. Luna said to Raven, "You know, those kids have been staring at us ever since we got here, you know that, right?"

"I know, but remember, there hasn't been many visitors."

The two headed down to the inn, past the three kids, including the one behind the well. Opening the door to the inn, they saw the innkeeper and a strange little green man, not much shorter than Luna. While Luna stared in awe at the dwarf, Raven just smiled and said, "Hello there!"

Raven smiled as he pulled out plenty of money from his pockets "You know, I'll pay you the full 600. Since there is not a lot of people, business must be slow, so you probably need the extra 60 gil more than we do."

"Thank you so much," Eve replied, "every little bit really does help." She waved at the two as they left. "Come by again soon. I'll dig up my old Tetra Master cards and we can play some."

________________________________

In shock from actually seeing the dwarf up close, let alone wracking his brain trying to puzzle through the bizarre accent, Hal could only stand and stare for a few moments. The door to the inn opened, and the arrival of two new guests, significantly more normal looking, knocked Hal out of his stupor.

"Umm, yes, uh sir..." Hal squinted a bit, trying to make sure that the dwarf really was a man. No telling with dwarves. "The gil will pay for a single bed for a month, if you need it that long. I can give you a refund if you're planning on leaving sooner."

Raven just smiled and said, "Hello there!"

Hal turned to the two that had just entered. "I'm sorry, there's only one room, we don't often have visitors that don't know each other already. If it's alright, though, there are three beds." He opened his mouth to explain more, but the gears finally clicked into place in his mind, and he figured out what the dwarf said before.

"I have some iced tea here, sir, but I'll be right back with some ale from the bar." Completely frazzled, Hal went running out of the inn, heading up the road to the tavern.

Without much of a surprise, Dwaro raised both of his hands to the visitors and shouted.

'' RALLI- HO!'' He gave a quick glance to the newcomers and then continued staring at Hal who left the inn in a hurry. The moment he realized that Hal had said there's a bar he burst out of the inn, not much missing from bouncing into Raven, and shouting a few words to the two.

'' See yer laterrr lads!'' Running in a weird manner, Dwaro followed Hal closely towards the inn. To all who saw that scene, it felt like the weird monster-man was chasing Hal, ready to eat the prey.

"I'm sorry, there's only one room, we don't often have visitors that don't know each other already. If it's alright, though, there are three beds."

"Er...okay?"
Raven said, before turning his attention to the green man who said
''RALLI- HO!''

"Ralli-ho?" Raven was downright confused, not understanding what the man said. Luna it seemed was able to understand it though. "Hello to you too."

"I have some iced tea here, sir, but I'll be right back with some ale from the bar."
Hal left the front desk to go get some ale from the bar. For what reason though he didn't know, but it'd probably be better off if the dwarf would've gone instead.

Nonetheless, the green man went out after Hal, saying "See yer laterrr lads!" The inn was now empty except for the two. Raven still a bit dumbstruck. "Er...what just happened?"

"You've never met a dwarf before have you?"
Luna said in a deadpan tone. Raven shook his head, the answer clearly obvious.

Running towards the tavern while completely frazzled, Hal failed to notice the dwarf running after him. The three children screaming and running away should have given him some sort of hint, but the assumption that they had been up to some sort of trouble kept him from wondering why all the commotion. It wasn't until he dashed into the bar and Slai's expression spoke of untold horror that he thought to look behind himself.

The strange dwarf had followed him, and now stood in the town's only drinking establishment. Hal gave Slai an awkward smile, and backed out quickly before she could stop him. As he slid out, he hurriedly spat out "sorryjustbringingacustomerheregottagoseeyoulater."

Slai smiled at the dwarf, her lips curved in a welcoming expression even as her eyes gave away how frightened she was of this strange creature. She tried her best to keep her voice from shaking as she did her job. "Uhh, h-hello. You look l-like you've come from far away. C-could I get you anything to drink?"

Back at the inn, Hal paused and took a deep breath before stepping back inside. He composed himself and stepped back in.

"Sorry about that, just got a little excited is all. So, as I was saying, as long as you're alright with sharing the room with that gentleman, the beds are fairly cheap. Only 25 gil per bed per night." Hal walked over, poured two glasses of iced tea, and held them out to the two.

“What do you mean it’s fake... this wasn’t cheap y'know!” Filendie said in obvious distress to a small slit in a tower “I’m sorry Sir but we can’t let you pass” one of the guards said sternly and didn’t return the pass. The human black mage rolled his eyes with a sigh as he turned away and looked over the vast fields presented to him. “I thought it would be easy street after the ice cavern” he thought as he took a few steps forward, but stopped as he spotted a small village not too far away. His legs had already started walking and with his staff at his side it seemed that he was headed for a small pit-stop "Hopefully they have some passes" he thought.

Fiends littered the fields but none seemed too interested in him, none would really be much trouble to dispatch by the looks of things but he already felt slightly drained from the use of magic, he had to use quite a lot back in the Ice Cavern just to get through it, not because it was difficult but because there was rather a lot of hungry fiends looking for their next meal.

As his legs carried him closer to the rather pleasant looking village his mind wandered to the number of things he had no choice but to dispatch. He hated killing things even though they were rabid fiends they still had lives. He had deflected most of them or done superficial damage but sometimes he used much more magic to not kill things and keep them alive. This was his preferred option but not always a possible one. He continued to walk and hoped he would reach this place soon.

"Sorry about that, just got a little excited is all. So, as I was saying, as long as you're alright with sharing the room with that gentleman, the beds are fairly cheap. Only 25 gil per bed per night."

"Sure, that's fine with me."

"Now wait just a minute!!!"
Raven said pulling Luna to the side, "Are you sure you want to share a room with..."

"Heh, you were able to give Heartless a chance, why not a dwarf?"
Luna made her rebuttal, and Raven relented.

"Alright, I'll take the room." Raven said, taking a cup of iced tea.

'' Ralli- Ho!'' The dwarf did his signature move as he had entered the bar. A greenish smile formed on his face while he saw the list of the drinks. Meanwhile, Hal had left the bar, but Dwaro didn't care much. After all, he was now in his favorite establishment of them all, a bar.

'' Aye, giv meh sum black ale!'' Told Dwaro while looking around the place. It was quite a nice, friendly looking bar. Quite lonely tho, but hey, if you are in a bar to drink, it doesn't matter if you are there alone or not. At least that was what Dwaro thought.

Filendie took his first step onto one of the loosely laid cobbles that was a sorry excuse for a path that led into the village. The place seemed peaceful enough to relax in and was rather low key, and as he looked up to his right at a sign with a worn outline of a bed and a moon on it he figured that this could be a resting place. Judging by the size of the place he figured that it wouldn’t have too many rooms available, he wasn’t staying the night but needed a place for a good rest before he headed out again.

Pushing the door he let himself in and shut it behind himself. There was only an additional three people in the room with him but even at that it felt slightly crowded, a man, a woman and what looked like a generic sleepy inn-keeper. The place had an odd musty smell that seemed to come with these back water places but he had gotten used to it over time, he took a step forward and waited behind what he presumed was a couple as he cued to be served.
