[RP] Village of Dali

Hal perked up as yet another customer entered the inn. Hal's mind was blown, three customers in one day was hard to believe, but a full house was just impossible. His grin widened at the prospect of having worthwhile work to do.

"I'm glad to have you here. Generally, we're pretty slow, and it's first come first serve, so until you let me know that you're heading out of town, I'll keep two of the beds set aside for you. If you'll excuse me, though, I'm going to help the fellow that just arrived. If you'd like, the restaurant/bar is open, so you could go greet your roommate. Otherwise, the area around here is quiet but scenic, and Observatory Mountain is always worth a look."

Hal politely stepped to the side, and moved towards the new guest. This new fellow had an air about him that reminded Hal of the underground factory. That place gave him the creeps. As a result, this newcomer gave Hal the creeps as well. He did his best to hide it (which wasn't very good at all), and greeted the guest.

"Umm, hello sir. It just so happens, as long as you don't mind sharing a room, there's one bed left. Just 25 gil a night. Complimentary Potion and Antidote for staying."

Hal stopped himself, unsure of how to proceed and too unsettled to try to make small talk.

Slai grabbed a bottle of Black Ale thought about pouring it, then simply set the bottle on the counter. She went back to cleaning and preparing for the evening rush as she talked, "it'll be 5 gil, sir." She normally avoided talking to strangers, but with how incredibly strange this creature was, she couldn't help but talk to him. "The adults will be back before you know it, and this place will become very lively. I hope you don't mind it being crowded. It gets positively packed. With the adults working all day, they like a good stiff drink before heading home for bed."

She paused, looking at the dwarf again. Time started to drag, and she found herself unable to stop staring at the customer.

Is he green? I think he's green... Nah, there's no such thing as green people...

"Alright." Raven said, "I'll head out to the outskirts, I hope your business runs well." He then left leaving Luna, who departed for the restaurant to meet with the dwarf.

----

Luna:

Luna entered the restaurant, where she saw the dwarf and a young girl, probably a little older than the three kids. If what Eve said to believed, she too was working alone since the adults are busy doing who knows what. Nonetheless, they only just got here, and it made no sense to do much of anything about it.

Walking up to the young girl, Luna asked, "Um yes, what do you serve here?"

----
Raven:

Raven stepped out into the plains that made up the Nolrich Heights. Looking out, there was a mountainous area to the right and further down. As well as a forest not to far. Perhaps he should make a stop at Observatory Mountain to check out the rest of the region. But the fields in itself, made Raven feel at ease. He thought of his friends, it had been a while since he saw them, maybe he should pop a visit sometime...

Filendie waited patiently, he didn’t want to eavesdrop so he looked around the room aimlessly, noticing a cat sleeping on top of a cast iron burner but he did hear something about a mountain before the others left "Umm, hello sir. It just so happens, as long as you don't mind sharing a room, there's one bed left. Just 25 gil a night. Complimentary Potion and Antidote for staying." The in keeper said a little uneasily. The Mage barely noticed as he thought about the proposition.

“That should be fine, I won’t be staying the night but 25 gil seems reasonable” he said simply and rummaged around in his pocket “Would there be anywhere for me to store this?” he said, gesturing towards his staff “It’s very important to me, but don’t wish to carry it around the village” he said propping it up next to himself, it was almost as tall as he was. Finally he brought out a hand full of gil and picked out the 25 coins before handing them over.

Dwaro dropped a foreign coin that was labeled with number 5 on the counter. It seemed to be almost pure gold, thick and well decorated. More than likely a lot more worth than the normal coins. The light reflected off from it as the dwarf reached for the bottle.

'' I don't mind lads aroon'. It's good fer fun!'' He smiled and drunk the bottle in a gulp. After a little dwarfish burp, he noticed the lady from before.

'' Ralli-ho fellow ootsider. How ya runnin' wee one?'' The old foreigner looked at Luna and then back at the lady behind the counter, pointing at the empty bottle as a hint to receive a new one.

Slai looked at Luna, trying hard to assess her age. She looked about old enough, and Slai figured she'd be done her drink before the adults made it back, so no harm in letting her order from the full drink menu.

"We have a list of drinks up on the wall," Slai motioned to the bar menu. "I'm terrible at remembering all of those. As far as food, We've got Gyshal salad with Oglop oil dressing, Spring Salad with Ice Cavern Crystal dressing, Carvespider-steak sandwiches, Python fillet platter, and something made with Mu. I don't really recommend that last one. The Mu has been a little gamey around here lately"

Slai glanced at the boxes that had been dropped off before the adults headed to work. "If we're really lucky, they sent some supplies from Alexandria, and we'll have Bandersnatch burgers on the menu again once I get this all unpacked."

Slai looked at the coin that the dwarf had set on the counted with suspicion. She picked it up, examined it for a moment, then pocketed it. Her education in valuable metals and foreign currency wasn't much, but enough to tell her that this was quite the coin. She grabbed two more black ales and set them on the counter.

"There you are, sir. At least, that should cover it, unless I got the conversion way off. Just let me know if I did, and we can work out the difference." She smiled at him, still a bit scared, but getting used to his strange appearance quickly.

Hal's brow furrowed as he went deep into thought, or at least as deep as he ever got. "There's complimentary treasure chests in the room to store items... I usually charge a small fee for the locking wardrobe, but it's been a nice and busy morning, so I'll let you use it for free. Should fit that fine staff, if just barely."

"There's nowhere else up here on the plateau to spend the night, unless you're a good friend of the moogles, so I'd recommend staying here. But, if you wind up moving on before night falls, let me know and I'll refund some of your gil. I don't want to charge you for a night's sleep you never get."

Hal graciously accepted the coins, and motioned to the iced tea. "There's refreshments here if you'd like, but there's much better down the street at the bar. I'm not sure where everyone's gone, but before too long, there'll be plenty of adults down at the bar. You should get a bite there before they appear if you're hungry."

The man went into thought as if no one really ever asked him anything other than ‘got a room’ or ‘what’s is there around to do’. "There's complimentary treasure chests in the room to store items... I usually charge a small fee for the locking wardrobe, but it's been a nice and busy morning, so I'll let you use it for free. Should fit that fine staff, if just barely." He replied and Filendie nodded.

That’s very kind of you, I have stayed with moogles in the in the past but I find they have a strange smell that’s difficult to get out leather” he said randomly with a weak but friendly smile “The bar scene isn’t much my thing…” he said, only realizing exactly how hungry he was and couldn’t remember eating before a pit-stop before the ice cavern “… however I think I may need to stop by” he said as, on cue, his stomach gave an embarrassing growl.

“Thank you again” he repeated as he pushed opened the door to the room with four beds in and a few bits of furniture including the wardrobe the in-keeper had mentioned. He opened the door to it with the key, awkwardly wedging his staff inside and some other bits of his belongings; he locked it and pocketed the key before leaving the room and giving the in-keeper a nod on the way out of the inn door.

It was midday and the air was clear but he wouldn’t go as far as to call it refreshing. He took in a deep breath and made his way over the cobbles, there was only a few small children running around, looking at him then whispering before childishly running away and giggling wearily. He ignored it and slowly meandered towards what looked like could be the tavern.

Raven:

Raven continued looking out into the serene calm of the Nolrich Heights. He closed his eyes as slowly raised his hand. Once his hand stretched outward away from his body. He summoned his Keyblade in a stream of light. It was a Key with four Black Angel Wings making up the blade, teeth and hand guards on a red blade and a Black Valkyrie keychain.

The three little kids watched from afar as Raven summoned his powerful weapon. They stared at this weird man with awe and fear. But Raven probably did not know he was being watched unlike the last time.

"That's fine, let me just get some water. I don't drink liquor." Luna said to the young girl with a friendly smile.

"Ralli-ho fellow ootsider. How ya runnin' wee one?" The dwarf said to her. It was nice to have learned a lot from his father. If it wasn't for him, she would not be able to understand the Dwarf's thick accent.

"Oh, Hello there sir. I'm doing alright, how about you?"

Dwaro smiled in his own dwarfish way to the barkeeper and then turned his eyes back to Luna.

'' Dinnae. Oor party was sent tae Alexandria to reinforce ther army. But meh, I was sent here tae work ...'' Told the dwarf with a rather quiet tone. He then reached for one of his ales and finished it off in no time.

Hal relaxed once the final guest was out of his inn. An odd fellow, but he seemed nice enough in spite of the terrible aura he gave off. Now, though, it was time to do a little work.

Hal checked in on the room, setting the complimentary items on each bed, and smoothed out the spot where the dwarf had been sitting and writing before. Only a few minutes were needed to get things tidy as before anyone showed up, so Hal quickly wound up with his face down on the desk once again.

The snores coming from Hal rumbled just loud enough to be heard outside, but the children were far too distracted by the man who just pulled a weapon out of nothing. The leader of the pack, Gudo, started to walk out towards the stranger, wanting to learn the secret behind the magic he just saw. He'd barely started to move outside of the village when he saw a shadow moving through the tall grass, cutting towards Raven.

"Watch out mister!" Gudo shouted, giving Raven just enough time to react to the huge python before it could strike.

((Thought I'd give you the chance to battle with something, if you like. No pressure to do so, though. As far as battle rules, feel free to be epic and describe/create your surroundings. Think rule of cool - if it's cool, just go for it. For mook monsters like a python, go ahead and describe the whole battle if you like. If I'm throwing something at any of you that's not just a mook, I'll let you know so you don't one-post KO it))

Slai filled a glass of water for Luna, setting it on the counter. "Don't worry about the one gil. It's just to keep the adults from drinking up all our extra water after they get back from work."

She went back to working, listening to the dwarf as she did. Until he said he was there to work. That got her attention and stopped her in her tracks. "You're here to.... uhh.... work? Have you talked to the Mayor yet? He's in charge of that sort of thing. You could go find him, but he'll likely show up here soon enough. In fact, the day has been moving by quickly. The adults will likely be back before long..."

Slai went straight back to work, moving double-time. The unexpected business had distracted her a fair bit, and it was going to be the end of the work day before she knew it.

((Next post I'm going to have the adults show back up. If that's too soon, just let me know and I'll wait longer. Since there's several months before the events of FF9, I'm not too worried about the passage of days. But, if people want a slower pace to relax and chat, just tell me and I'll chill out and slow down.))

Raven:

Raven placed the blade out in front of him, meditating on all the past experiences he had, the battles he fought, and the friends he lost in the name of peace, to bring balance between light and darkness. Looking back, it was a hard life, but he always had his friends to help him along the way.

"Watch out mister!"

Raven heard the boy call out and looked to the right, watching a large snake move forward, attempting to strike at him from the tall grass. It was a smart creature, trying to get a surprise preemptive strike, but Raven was a Keyblade Master, his reaction was far quicker. Without a second thought, Raven took his Keyblade and struck at the Python in mid Attack. The swing of his Keyblade split the reptile in two as the creatures squirmed around before it finally stopped moving.

Raven rested his Keyblade over his shoulder, turning towards the three kids. "Thanks for the warning, kid." He said, smiling. Looking out into the twilit skies, Raven said, "It's getting dark, I think it's time for you to be back at your homes, don't ya think?"

(OOC: I'll wait for Solid to post before I can post as Luna)

OOC: Heh, I was waiting for you to post but nvm :D My bad.

IC:

'' Talk tae mayor? Aye, will do it later.'' The dwarf finished his third bottle of ale and seemed to get a tad bit dizzy. For a short amount of time he fell into deep thoughts. His friends, family and overall the life in Conde Petie had been perfect. Yet he was here, on a whole another continent, far far away from his home.
Occasionally interrupted by his own hiccups, he asked both Slai and Luna.

'' Hav ya ever been tae Lindblum? It's wonderfool.''

Luna:

"Hav ya ever been tae Lindblum? It's wonderfool.'' Luna heard the dwarf say. She knew that he was slowly getting stone cold drunk, though he has shown the symptoms, it seems he could take his liquor.

"Actually I have a few years ago. It's a quite nice place, like my own hometown."

Luna then moved to ask the dwarf a question, "Say, do you live in Condie Petite? I've never been there before but my father has a few years back."

Gudo watched as the man easily dispatched the huge snake. "Yeah, I guess we should get going home. Our parents will be back soon, and they always like it better when we're already home..." Gudo wanted to ask about the magic weapon, but he didn't need to get in trouble for being home after dark again.

"Good job with the snake mister." Gudo shouted over his shoulder as he started to run towards the other kids.

Slowly, adults started to show up, almost out of nowhere. Some filtered out of the windmill, and others practically appeared in the airship field. One by one, they headed home or moved into the tavern. Within minutes, the quiet, peaceful tavern had a dozen adults giving their orders to Slai and going to go sit down. One of them walked around behind the counter, and started working alongside Slai.

"Hey dad, how was work today?" she asked, not even pausing while grilling something on the stove-top.

"Not bad at all." He moved in closer and whispered, hoping the din would keep others from hearing. "Outsiders in here? They haven't caused any trouble, have they? Things just got running smoothly, and we don't need anyone interrupting the factory."

Slai was about to answer, when a man walked in and the small noise from all the adults talking ceased. The man was nothing impressive, an average height with a decent gut, this man seemed unworthy of commanding any attention. All the same, everyone stopped to look at him until someone finally called out "Over here, Mayor. Got a spot for you to sit."

The mayor walked over and sat, the talking finally resuming between all the adults. As he sat and chatted, the mayor continually glanced over at the girl and dwarf at the bar.

The word Condie Petie triggered a smile. Dwaro looked into Luna's eyes and answered clearly.

'' Aye ... It's me home town. But yer dad, what's his name?'' The dwarf tried to recall all of the visitors that he had seen in Conde Petie in the last few years. That done, he tried to match the faces with Luna and chose a selected few that could have been her dad. Waiting for Luna's answer, he gave a look to where the mayor was sitting and then turned his head back to her.

Raven:

"Good job with the snake mister."

"Yeah, thanks. Have a safe trek back to your homes."
Raven said to the kid as he ran off to the rest of his friends. Raven turned back around to the dead snake. He didn't figure he had to fight a snake this big, but this is Gaia, and Raven was fortunate that his skills did not get rusty. It was getting dark and he saw silhouettes of figures heading home or to a small building in which Raven assumed must be the tavern. He'd rather not trouble the guys there and just retreated to the inn to relax.

----
Luna:

"Aye ... It's me home town. But yer dad, what's his name?"

Luna smiled and said "My father's name is Maximillian Thermidor. He's a little taller than I am, black hair, purple eyes. He wore a poncho when he travels to avoid looking inconspicuous." Luna looked behind her to see the Mayor watching her and the dwarf as they were talking. "I wonder why he's looking at us like that?" She thought.
