These are rules that may apply to the entire Role Playing Central forum. Please read; for these are new and will be applied soon after it is posted.
Posting
1. Post Length - The minimum length for RP posts is a paragraph (5 or more complete sentences, excluding dialogue). This may increase slightly overtime.
-- GMs (Game Masters-the creator of RPs), however, may increase this requirement for their RPs more than the minimum.
-Tips: If you're finding it difficult to post that much - try being more descriptive, or even wait for more people to post so that you could respond to more in your post. Seek help from your RP mates as well; RPing is a teamed effort.
2. Write Legibly - This does include the usage of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It is highly suggested that you proofread and use spell check before you post. It is not expect for everyone to have perfect grammar all the time, but it is absolutely necessary that others will find your posts coveniently comprehensible. Occasional mistakes are excusable, but if it severely hinders a reader's ability to comprehend the context, and/or it seems like you are guilty of neglect, then in no way will that be condoned.
--No asterisks (*) are allowed to display action. And quotations must always be used to let people know a character is speaking.
BAD: *Sora looks around* Where am I? *hearing a sound, he pulls out his keyblade* Who's there?
BETTER: Sora looks around at the unknown scenery. "Where am I?" he asked himself. Hearing a sound from behind him, he quickly unsheathed his keyblade. "Who's there?" he called out.
3. Keep OoCs to a minimum - Out of Character threads are allowed, but please keep it above meaningless chit-chat.
Character Creation
4. Profiles - Usually for RPs, profiles for characters are required. Here is a basic template as an example for a profile:
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Appearance:
Personality:
History:
Weapon(s):
Abilities/Magic:
----Appearance and personality should at least be four sentences each (make sure to write in complete sentences and not just list traits. Although for appearance, pictures are allowed to be used, just post the url to the picture INSTEAD of using the BB code to make the image show up—that way people can click the link and the image will show up on another page). Please elaborate on these fields.
---History will require a minimum of two paragraphs. This part of the profile is the most critical, therefore it is naturally the longest. There is no excuse for the History field to be left blank, even if the RPer intends on keeping their character's past hidden-you can keep out the things you want to keep secret and still give the rest of the cast an idea of who your character is.
--If there will be fighting in your RP, you should include fields where a RPer can explain their weapons, abilities, and magic (in the character profile). For those fields, weapons, abilities, and magic should be explained thoroughly, so whoever the character fights will get a good idea of what your character is capable of doing.
5. Crossover limits -Your fandom is respected here, but if you're going to the level of Kingdom Hearts x Bleach, we ask that you present a convincing plot that not only is the result of your self-fan service, but also makes a worthy RP for everyone to play in.
6. Bumping Threads - If you want to join an RP that has been dead for a month or more, you must get permission from the GM or Thread Starter before posting in that thread. The thread might be dead because of inactivity, and it should not be bumped if it is no longer active. However, threads may be revived if the GM and other participants want to and are willing to start posting actively again. If you are not a participant in the RP before bumping it and have not recieved permission, then you will be penalized.
Behaviour
To act like a roleplayer means staying true to your character, being courteous, respectful, and keeping a level of pride that does not harm others.
7. Godmodding - There are many examples to this sinful act, one of them explained by Wikipedia as thus:
"Godmodding occurs when a character describes an event or a series of events he or she has taken against a player character in the RPG, with the person who plays the character acted against then describing actions taken that completely nullify the original actions against them. Godmodding is thus used like a 'Get Out of Jail Free card' when things don't go the way a player wants, rather than working with previously unfolded events. It is also used as a single word definition of having an invincible character or unbreakable armor, limitless power, etc. For example, the following exchange would be godmodding on the part of player A:
* Player B states, "Having exploited A's mistake and caught hold of him, B strikes A."
* Player A states, "B completely missed A, and A takes no damage."" (more example may be found in this link.)
This action is indeed the bane of roleplaying, and therefore must never be practiced. Failure to follow the rule against godmodding may result in a warning against the one at fault, or worse depending on the situation.
8. Sportsmanship - It is known that every roleplayer has a level of pride that is created as a result of experience in RPing. Because of this, we (the staff) are prepared to act out against severe ego trips that either lead to rule breaking, offending others, and hindrance to an RP. To avoid this, it is best that all RPers respect each other without regards to skill or experience, but instead regarding the fact that you are all roleplayers and enjoy the game.
9. RP Police? - To make it simple, there is no such thing. Which means no one is to act out vigilantly against rule-breaking and/or poor roleplaying. That is the staff's job. Report things; we do our best to fix it. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a warning against the said offender and the vigilante.
