I’m not sure the exact timeframe this role play is set in. Though, I am assuming that it is set in a present time in a world similar to our own. Tell me if I should make any changes.
†Name†
Arisato Min (Min, as she is commonly called.)
(Inspired by the new female protagonist of Persona 3 Portable)
As observed in the picture, Min is a rather slim girl with hair of auburn. Her hair is tied up in a rather distinctive fashion and finished off with her trademark barrettes in her hair, signifying the Roman numerals ‘XXII’.
Her favorite choice of clothing is portrayed in the image: a turtle-neck sweater with a red scarf, matched with a checkered skirt that is worn over a pair of black leggings. She ends it with a brown leather boot that reaches up close to about one palm’s length below her kneecaps.
†Personality†
Min is a rather cheerful girl, and unwaveringly optimistic. Somehow, she is always able to find a way to pick out the lighter aspects of even the darkest of situations. She trusts the people around her, and always believes in the goodness of people- which makes her a rather gullible person at times. Though, anger her and you’ll regret having ever lived to this point. (Because of her Orb of Might) She gets really, really violent, and does it with a smile.
A rather ornate weapon that belongs to a separate magical dimension, the Ascard is usually called upon only when in need. When summoned, several wisp of light will gather around to form the shape of the Naginata and slowly materialize into existence in Min’s hands.
Ascard is an element-cancelling weapon, in the sense that it is unaffected by the elements, and hence, could be used as a form of defense against magic, or to deal with Elementals effectively. The moment something of magical nature touches the weapon, it is dispelled. Only strong magical beings or artifacts are able to be unaffected by it.
†Artifacts†
Aside from Ascard, Min possesses a series of other artifacts that helps her in and out of battle. It is the mastery of usage of these artifacts that helped Min attain her position of Slayer Goddess, as well as her nickname, ‘The Calm’.
- Key of Dimensions http://silverpendants.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/sterling-silver-oxidized-key-pendant.jpg
Worn as a pendant, this is the key to the other magical dimension where Min stored her weapon, Ascard. This key also acts as a magical catalyst, allowing Min to unleash spells through the portal opened by the key at speeds far surpassing that of normal mages, all of whom have to go through series of incantations before being able to use a spell. The dimension is opened about 3 seconds after Min holds the key and turns it in the air. To use a specific spell, all she have to do is to visualize the spell’s effects.
In Min’s case, because of Ascard, the only spells she is capable of is simple enhancement spells that can only be used on her allies or herself.
- Orb of Might http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/pictures/2000/nahled/1-1222003081IENB.jpg
Min’s most prized, and most portable as well, artifact. This artifact heightens her physical capabilities to superhuman extents. When in possession of this artifact, Min’s strength becomes extraordinary, such that an ordinary punch can send a normal person flying about 2 meters back. A punch to the wall can potentially create a hole in it. Her endurance in battle is also heightened; she can last about an hour in a vigorous battle just transforming into a Scale Human (25% transformation).
†Fighting Style†
Note: When beginning the battle, Min begins by holding Ascard in one arm, and her ‘Musical Score’ in the other.
Contrary to her famous moniker, ‘The Calm’, Min is nowhere close to appearing ‘calm’ in battle. In battle, her attacks are fast and furious, and she wouldn’t stop this series of forceful aggression until her enemies go down. Most of her attacks are slash attacks, and they come in quick succession sometimes such that it her weapon, Ascard, is almost a blur. Simply put, she’ll just be an aggressive force to deal with on the field, and all these, if without usage of her artifacts (Except the Orb of Might, which has a passive effect on her whether or not she needs it)
When she begins using her other artifacts, she begins to act more like what people call her. Instead of an offensive strike, she suddenly turns to a more defensive style of battle, parrying any attack coming her way and responding in kind with a counterattack. At the opportune moment, she’ll start using the Key to bring in a new element of battle- magic. The Key of Dimension’s physically draining nature is negated partially by the Orb of Might, so Min is able to use about 20 large-scale, destructive spells before running totally out of energy.
The ‘Musical Score’ is rarely used, and only used as and when she feels like it. Her Orb of Might already provides her enough stamina to at least complete a battle before she even comes close to feeling tired, hence the ‘Musical Score’ is rather useless until she begins to feel tired. Furthermore, when she does come close to being tired, she could always deal with the fatigue by transforming, which further explains the rarity of her usage of the ‘Musical Score’.
However, there are times where she actually uses the ‘Musical Score’ though those times are just out of pure whim.
When push comes to shove, and the enemy turns out far beyond her own expectations, this is precisely where Min starts to utilize her Dragon Transformation abilities. Usually, she’ll simply go straight into a 50% transformation because it is rare that someone would be strong enough to force her into doing so- so she simply cuts to the chase, to put it figuratively. If the battle still does not conclude with her victory, then it is time to go into about 70% transformation, right before the stage of transformation which would consume her consciousness and sanity.
At this stage of transformation, which she calls ‘Disaster Management’, jokingly, there are already curved horns formed on her head, much like those on rams. Her wings turn metallic. It retains the color, but seems to have a soft glow outlining the wings. Here, she is already acting purely on instincts alone, and little on logic.
If worse comes to worst, and the enemy far overpowers her, then she’ll simply transform into a complete dragon, ignoring the consequences.
†History†
A couple was walking down the streets when suddenly; a wail broke through the silence of the night. Reacting initially with mild shock, they soon mustered up the courage to approach the source of the sound, only to find an abandoned baby girl lying naked on the cold, hard floor. They were apprehensive initially, wondering what to do about the girl.
Just hours ago, they had buried their own child secretly. Having accidentally killed the child, they realized what a blessing it was to stumble upon the child, but the man was rather concerned with the prospects of having to deal with the law if the child had happened to be lost. However, the woman thought it would be a perfect substitute for their child, since it was recognized now that they had a child.
At the woman’s earnest persuasion, the girl was adopted and taken as the real child of the couple.
This girl was Arisato Min.
She was raised in a rather undesirable fashion. Her ‘parents’ treated her shabbily, giving her little to feed herself with. As a result, she grew up to be rather scrawny and it was a common habit of hers to scavenge for leftovers from restaurants. At least, up to the age of 7. It was then; she discovered her powers by pure coincidence.
Her ‘mother’ was once again scolding her, and had already started bashing her up with a broom. She didn’t put up much of a fight, despite feeling angry. This anger built up, and unlocked a certain potential within her. Suddenly given such a power, she could barely react in time to control it. It burst out of her, and resulted in her transforming into a Black Mage Dragon.
Losing her mind to this transformation, she took her revenge, one that she had been secretly coveting for years now, but never dared to act on it. In her mania, she killed her ‘mother’, badly mutilating her body before tossing her out of the window…
The case was reported as an ‘accident’, because they could not find a murder weapon, and the wounds on the body was definitely not something a human can inflict with bare hands. The ‘father’ continued to raise Min for the next 2 years, just as shabbily as he did before, this time taking over the ‘mother’s’ role in punishing Min.
All this time, Min had known about her abilities, but was merely too traumatized to use it again. At the age of 11, she ran away from home, striking it out alone on the streets amongst prostitutes. It was then she met a kind woman, a prostitute by profession, who unofficially ‘adopted’ her because she looked like a friend. (Because of her hair)
Despite being a prostitute, the lady never encouraged Min to follow in her footsteps. Min never was interested anyway; being more concerned socializing with the gangsters hanging around her place. It was there, she discovered the ability to summon Ascard. It was yet another case of good luck when she found the Key of Dimensions on the ground. Having nothing to play with, she pretended to open a door with the key, and ended up getting sucked into the dimension.
There, the naginata, Ascard, stood, it’s blade end plunged into the ground…
What went on subsequently is a long story meant for another time. Min goes on to join some of these gangsters up till around 12, when the woman decided it was best for her to study, and sent her to school instead. It is not clear when exactly Min obtained her subsequent artifacts, but she claimed to have gotten them by ‘luck’ as well.
At some point, probably around 15, the organization came and recruited her.
Her future in the organization was a smooth-sailing one- she never failed a single mission she was dispatched on. All this, despite her missions getting progressively harder. Consequently, attained the Slayer Goddess position fair early, at the age of 17.
At this point, she had moved out of the prostitute’s home, though, at the lady’s behest, and much reluctance. She had already dropped out of school, and taken to working part time to earn some money, as well as to balance her duties within the organization- if any.
