Was there any Final Fantasy Game that you disliked in the past, complained how you thought how terrible the game was, and then after a few years or months decided to give the Final Fantasy another try and end up liking the game or adding that game into your beloved title of '' Favorites " ?

When was about 9- or 8 used to dislike Final Fantasy IX because thought that the game was cursed, and disliked fighting bug type monsters and thought that the battle music was creepy.. >__>
But a few years later, picked up the game again and noticed it's true power and just love the game so much now.

When was about 12 gave Final Fantasy VI a try but focused to much on the out-dated graphics and hated it so much, thought that it was the worst Final Fantasy ever.
But a year later noticed that there is more to video games than just graphics, gave Final Fantasy VI a second chance and really enjoyed it ^-^

And last year brought FF12 and disliked the change in battle system and thought that the storyline was lacking. But now replaying FF12 and thinking it's not bad after all !

So was there a Final Fantasy game that you thought was bad but then you gave it a second chance, and then started to really enjoy the game ??

Actually, I had this experience with FFX.

I remember playing it and instantly disliking the music, the voices and the general atmosphere. I turned it off when Tidus first arrived in Besaid and I didn't touch it again for months.

Then I got bored, and decided to give it another go. I couldn't believe it when I totally fell in love with it. I even remember calling in sick to work one day so that I could complete it, I was so desperate to know what was going to happen! It's now one of my favourite games, but I still dislike most of the voices.

I think if i played FF12 again i'd like it a lot more then the first time i played it because i'd Know where everything was and where to find things the first time you play it you have to get the hang off where everything. I might give it another go soon I wouldn't say it was bad i just thought it was worse then 6,7,8,9,10, FFX-2,

When I first attempted to play FFI and FFII, I got pretty frustrated with them (particularly II's levelling system) so I ended up putting them down for a while.

Then I picked up the PSP versions and tryed them again and I actually enjoyed both them more so than some of the later FF's (FFV and FFIV). After getting used to FFII's levelling system I really enjoyed it, I thought it was a refreshing change.

I've actually had this experience with FF's VIII, IX and X.

FFVIII was the first FF I ever played. I got it for Christmas 1 year just because it looked cool, but I was totally unfamiliar with the series. I started playing it, couldn't find the Fire Cavern and just gave up. I tried again months later, still couldn't get into it. Then a few months later I tried a 3rd time, and it managed to capture me and I got really into it! I think I beat it like 3 times in a row (obsessed much?). And now it stands today as my favorite FF.

Because of my like for FFVIII, I got FFIX not too long after it came out. The game being so different from FFVIII, I couldn't get used to it. I managed to go back to it in time and gave it a legitamate shot and stopped at disc 3. Even to this day I still can't get into FFIX though. It's very dependent on items (I'm more of a magic user, especially for healing purposes). The missable items is usually the big turn-off for me, there are a lot of items you can only get at 1 point of the game. Being a completionist, it makes me lose interest quicker (the storyline is already a little blah to me).

I tried again with FFX, and seeing as it was the first for PS2. I played the first time for about an hour and a half and lost interest (it was right before joining the Al Bhed and doing the dive). I went back maybe like a year later and got to Besaid, then it caught my interest. My other favorite FF as a result. Even to this day, the whole beginning before Besaid doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, and didn't have a big impact on the storyline (it does, but it's before you meet most of your party, so it's a little out-of-the-ordinary). But either way, it's the first visit to Baaj Temple, and Baaj Temple is just awesome!

IX. Never really gave it a shot because it looked so childish, but when I did, it really made me eat my words. The game was amazing. Best of the old and the new.

FFIX

I used to think it was shite, Id only played it twice and I just didnt think anything of it at all, I think becasue my first play through was just my playing throuh fast, I completed it much quiker than VII or VIII's first run throughs and I felt abit cheated, so I just completely wrote it off xD

Pla yed it recently and I actually really got into it, its a fantastic little game and I cant beleive I ever disliked it

FFXII, I still think the battle system is terrible but not as bad as I first thought of it. But I like the story more than I did the first time round and playing FFXII:RW helps as well, which to me should have been a prequel released before XII rather than a sequel since it has a fair bit of info in it. But XII for me, by no means is it in my favourites but I liked it better second time around >.>

Haha interesting topic. I remember being afraid of playing FF9 because of how boring the beginning was. I'm serious when I say I couldn't stay awake past 5 minutes into the game. That storm just kinda lullabied me to sleep. Countless years later I replayed it and it became one of my personal favorite FF games. Second chances are a miraculous art.

XII.

I bought it, played it for a while, got to the Lhusu Mines, then just stopped. Not entirely sure why, it wasn't really a concious decision, I just started playing other games and just completely left XII alone to gather dust.

Bored one day so I thought I'd play it, started it again as I couldn't remember much so carrying on from the last save would've been abit silly. Didn't put it down for weeks afterwards. It's in no way the best FF out there, but I do feel it gets alot of unfair critism. Really enjoyed it.

Still haven't finished IX though. Only got the first two disks here, fuck knows where the other two are so couldn't really go back to it anyway.

Final Fantasy X. I didn't like it that much when I first played it. I couldn't stand the voice acting and took me awhile to get used to the sphere grid. I also thought that each character should only be able to learn their class specific spells. Also hated Blitzball. I still haven't replayed the game all the way through after my first time through. But I have replayed my save file to do extra things on there like finish getting everyone's ultimate weapons. After doing that,I've decided that when I replay it again I'll probably like it a bit more since I enjoyed it more when I picked up again doing the extra stuff more then I did when I stopped off.

I also hated Final Fantasy VII. Im still not a big fan of it,but after replaying it recently I like it more then I did. I don't like Materia that much, and after hearing people talk about how it's the greatest game ever and such just really put me off because I didn't find anything spectacular about it. But I do enjoy the 'mysteries' of the game and different locations. I also enjoy the optional things and the WEAPONs on there.

I remember playing FFX for the 1st time and thought it was terrible. I didnt care for the voice acting, sphere grid, hated the game. Then I replay it and love it. Idk what happened now but I like the voice acting in this game after hearing it for a 2nd time, and the Sphere Grid isnt as hard as I made it out to be. Although its a rather easy game to complete, I love the story of this game. One of the best stories I have ever played and watched form as a whole.

FFVIII. I LOATHED that game for YEARS after playing it the first time and giving up midway through Disk 3. LOATHED it. However, I replayed it last year in the run up to Christmas, and I actually really really enjoyed it! I think the reason I disliked it for so long was because I sucked at it really, and disliked how different it was. When I replayed it, I spent hours drawing for magic and whatnot, and I got all the GFs too - even Eden, so I felt like not only had I got to grips with the game - I was actually pretty damn good at it too

for me it was IX,
I thought the game didn't fit in with the rest of the FF games and thought the characters were gay...

well as stupid as the game looks I played again in 07 and loved it!

FFIX. I watched my brother play it, and the look and his claims made me not even try it. He said it was awful. I played it a month or two ago and it's now one of my favorite games ever.

2nd time playing through...

Basically i bought FFX when i was younger and maybe it was because i played FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX before X (as i started really playing FF on the PS1). I just didn't enjoy X. In fact, i'd say it was one of the poorest FF games released, especially after all the hype.

However, i'm older now and i've dusted off my slim PS2 and popped in FFX for another go. This time i'm enjoying it. I'm only a few hours in at the most and it's good so far.

I like the whole Tidus being in a 'time warp' kinda thing. I can't remember the majority of the storyline, so please, no one spoil it, but has anyone else ever re-visited a game they didn't like and then end up enjoying it?

yeah this game lol.. playedit when it first came out n hated it n then brough a copy like 2 years ago and put it in n still hated it,, then once id played through my collection n got back to it like a year ago i loved it and still play it now

I didn't like it that much when I was little either- I basically got stuck at Gui and gave up. But I'm replaying it now and I love it, of coursee.

That and.. hmm. I like most games the first time I play them. Space Invaders, mebbe? :wacky:

i think ffX is one of those games that is for teens n older,, n many people play it thought n cant understand shit going on xD

When I got FF8 I didnt like it at all. But then I tried it again and I got over the retarded junction system and enjoyed the story in all.
