Seymour. Evil or Just Misguided?

Yeah, he had a bad past but it's to be expected that he'd be that way after what he'd been through, if he killed his own father then I don't think he'd think twice about killing a stranger - or a whole planet full for that matter

Yes he killed all those Ronso. Good Point.

I dont think he's evil or misguided. He went through alot of crap, and his mental state isnt very healthy as a result.

And D'Lain brings up a good point about Seymour being a guado/human mix. It's very likely that the two races dont mix very well and that Seymour was already predisposed to mental instability, and Jyscal didnt help that.

Were he evil he'd be killing off people for the hell of it, not to save them. His sense of morality and mercy are just warped. Someone who was evil would be well aware that his actions were wrong and harmful.

neither... ok now people might go wtf...

Seymour wasn't misguided because... there was nobody to guide him...

his mother died by becoming a fayth and his father didn't have time for him(he was a maester) while he was still a kid

because his mother gave him the Aeon Anima which is an incredibly powerful Aeon storywise..
additionally Anima is also called "the Dark Aeon"
Anima is in nature "evil" though gentle... she suffers greatly like her Fayth(Seymour's mother) and Seymour has never trained as a summoner before he got Anima(since he was still a kid(as far as i understand the story))
so he's more vulnerable to outside corruption, perhaps Anima's corruption?
which in the end became worse over time since he started thirsting for power(much like drug addiction)..
he wanted more power, so he had to find a way to become more powerful, becoming a maester was a perfect opportunity... but his father was there... kill him and become maester in his place

he gained power, but was still thirsting for more, he tried marrying Yuna in order to become Sin
he got killed... and became an unsent
and in general, unsent are evil in nature(Auron and Maechen being an exception), so this is where the "evil" part comes in

thirst for power, insanity, unsent'ness

in the end, Seymour was nuts and had no sense of rationality and actually did believe he'd save other by giving them power... in death, killing everybody and not sending them...

long story short

he was neither evil nor misguided, but insane.. by his thirst of power
