Who else loves this feature of the game? I was pleasantly suprised when I had my inactive party members gaining points for not being in the active party, I honestly thought that it'd be a bit lazy on the character growth side since I only had to work half as hard.

To be honest though, the CP costs shoot up so fast that I think it would have aggrovated so many players getting the CP twice over. I think it was a great feature though without a doubt, it made training weaker characters a bit easier since you didn't actually have to use them until they were actually ready. (Well, later on anyway since most of the parties are pre-set post chapter 9)

What're your thoughts / opinions on this feature anyway?

It was a good feature to have at the first half of the game when you know that you will be controlling each of the 6 character at various story events. Not so much when you get to choose the party later on. I stuck to using just Lightning, Sazh and Fang later on, so the CP of the other characters didn't really matter to me as much.

But yes, it is extremely useful if you suddenly want someone inactive to catch up and their stats are pitiful compared to your main three. It cuts down on the grinding, which is fortunate as mentioned, the CP costs later on become ludicrously expensive.

Yes I loved this feauture of the game because My party I didnt use Snow, Sazh and Vanille/dometimes it would be Hope. Usually Snow was my lowest. But As mentioned above when you have to play each character seperately was useful. But Later on I always stuck with Fang, Lightning, and Hope or Vanille. Vanille was mainly for death but Hope is much better overall. But if you use the grinding trick in the Steppe (Big dog and behemoth King) with the growth egg it was too easy. So each would get high cp easy.

i liked shared cp too. lets me play with the characters i want and specialize the other three at the same time. though i still didnt use the other three. Only played the game through once and maxed my mains out. wish i had my ps3 with me right now. want to play this game so bad.

I think the best thing is the fact that it allows the freedom of choosing the party you want and no one will be behind, ever.
I generally focus on my mains but if you're struggling everyone'll be at similar stages so different strategies are easier to form. Apart from that it saves a lot of time getting all that CP, getting it once is enough.

Your very busy recently.

Shared CP just makes sense, the limited function of a single controlled party member, the fact that you have to assign new Paradigms for every character replaced...........its not like the old days, when you switch out characters in earlier chapters they are given set paradigms that feature there strengths but later on when you start developing there unused Modes they no longer given such easy treatment.

When you switch over members they given initial roles there not set up for,Sahz as Sentinel being an example, S-E made a choice of giving everyone CP active or not
vs forcing everyone to dick around setting up Paradigms for 10 minutes.

You may praise it but it only saved people a lot of grief IMO, the wrong way to make using and leveling characters easy, other games that have characters who suffer level disadvantage expect you to put in the effort an level them up.

But not FFXIII, its special.

It made the game too easy in my opinion. On past FF games I usually stick to my preferred characters and that will be that, for example in ff9 Eiko and Amarant never get a look in. So now because of the shared CP it meant I could adjust the team with my least favorite players like Snow in sticky situations. The shared cp and the linarity (if that is a word) really took the edge out of the game for me. At times it feels like a 5 year old could breeze this game with the changes they made. If they don't fight then they shouldn't level up. It is like if my brother went to the gym and I get the same fitness and health boosts he would get when I am just sitting on my arse doing nothing.

I liked the shared CP idea. It was definitely handy for when the party was scattered and the party you were using needed to be ramped up a little. But unlike what everyone has said, I liked it later on in the game when the party was together as well. You could essentially beef up a weak party member *cough*Hope's ridiculously low HP*cough* without having to have their weakness exploited in a high CP battle.

Another reason I liked it is because I get bored of using my "favorite" party all the time. I like to spice things up and change it up every so often, and this would allow me to freely do so without having an "underleveled" party active for the more difficult parts of the game.

This.

I loved to change randomly and variate depending on whatever I was doing, for example when I was about to fight a tricky boss Sazh may have been a better choice since he's a better Synergist for a bit of the game, or purely a team of warriors with magic only for chaining.
I didn't do it often, but it was definitley nice to have the option there.

Yes I really like the fact that other characters would gain CP even though you didn't use them.............But like Butt-Head I did get bored using the same team Lightning/Fang/Hope.............and even though that was my stringgest team, I wanted to use Sazh too as his one of my fave characters..........and even though he might be weak compared to other characters he wouldnt be that weak thanks to the shared CP.

But I think tha main problem here with the CP would be that everyone would have the same amount of CP.......................

my Strongest party in XIII is Lightning/Fang/Hope
------------That is the same for most people or Hope in exchange for Vanille

But in IX (for example) my strongest party is Zidane,Garnet,Amarant and Freya

and most people they wouldnt have this as their stongest party in IX...........

What I'm saying is in XIII EVERYONE who plays it will have the same party including Lightning,Fang and Hope (or Vanille)

I don't think anyone has Sazh or Snow in............

Not unless you need to use a sentinel or synergist............But you can just use Hope or Fang who are nearly as good in those roles as Sazh and Snow.

I simply love the shared CP feature. I cannot imagine how long it would have taken for me to max out the crystarium without that feature and I probably would have only completed it for 2-3 characters. Thoughout the entire game(once you can choose the party members), I almost solely used three characters so I would not have bothered to individually max out their CP. It also allowed me to make a strong party out of any combination of characters, which I thought was excellent for changing my strategies according to the enemy I was fighting.

I thought it worked well for this game. When you have a final boss the way it was in this game, it's kind of nice to have even characters to choose from.

However, I kind of like the unshared CP too. So I hope that shared CP isn't in too many games.

Ok yeah I also love this feature to death. I am one of those people who likes to max and beat a game with all of my characters supper buff and strong, and the battles are already long and drawn out so much that it would be a pain to do all of them two times, also it make adamantoise farming easy because it doesnt matter if I use hellish vanille all the time.

It was really useful when it came to training, it reminded me of the shared EXP feature on VII.
