Intro note: The guy in my avatar that practically says "Hello child, want to come to my place?" is from that game.

Moving on...

Got the game two weeks ago and so far, I'm loving it. I have no expectations of doing everything right and maxing out all Social Links on my first playthrough, I'll give it a shot with internet walkthroughs on my second run.

There's so much to do in this game, it's insane.

My only complaints are in regards to voice-acting and a couple other quirks. By the beginning of May (game's calendar) I have a guy and two girls on my team. The voice actor for the guy (Yosuke) is perfectly alright, while not amazing. But both of the girls sound awkward - one has the voice of a 40-year-old and the other just sounds like a freaking zombie.

Also, while the sheer number of Personas you can create is impressive, when it comes down to it they don't seem to have any unique characteristics of their own, making it practically irrelevant whether you go off to battle with a horned sheep or a colossus.

The fact that you don't really know what makes the game clock turn and doesn't makes it hard to plan out how to spend a day. For instance, hanging out at the weapon shop, seeing the salesman craft products for you out of spoils you get after battles doesn't make time pass, but buying something out of an old, broken vending machine (that you don't know it's broken to begin with) blows the whole afternoon away.

Finally, the soundtrack is much too alternative for my liking. The battle theme is especially hideous, but most of the background music is also pretty weak.

Regardless of these things, the game never gets old, and you have a lot of liberty as to how you want to progress in the plot. There are also countless side-quests like part-time jobs and school activities, as well as many neat things to do in the Velvet Room when it comes to messing around with your Personas.

Anyone else played this game? Keep spoilers to a minimum please, as I'm just getting started on this one! ;)

I brought this game some two month's back but actually started played recently and I already progressed a bit. I'm in August at this moment.

I don't like... the tight mazes, It gives you really small space to evade the Shadows, also the fact you can't send your party members exploring for items, stairs or even destroying Shadows for you. They also removed the fusion spells, among other small things that were either changed or removed. And to end, the cast is way too worst than P3.

I like... the fact you control the whole party and not just the main character, Social links also raise on Sundays, you can easilly increase your stats and become closer to Social links with the right answers. Party members take fatal blows for you and perform support actions during battle.

I suggest you max out ALL stats on your first run and don't bother too much with the Social Links, in your second playthrough you have more freedom to master the Social Links and some Social links that required you to have a certain amount of courage, understanding, etc. But I'd master the team's S.links at least, comes extremely useful in-battle.

The VA of Yosuke is the very same for the Main character of P3 and other two major ones. He is quite alright, suits Yosuke well. I'm not a fan of them either, I dislike both Chie and Yukiko's VA. If you played P3, Yukari is also voiced by a 40-something VA. Buy you can't tell that is bad because she did a perfect job and makes her voice really young.

Also, while the sheer number of Personas you can create is impressive, when it comes down to it they don't seem to have any unique characteristics of their own, making it practically irrelevant whether you go off to battle with a horned sheep or a colossus.
They do, at least a few have a unique move that can only be learned by that specific Persona, but you can inherit to others. Also... you WILL come across some hard battles whih you require some grinding and at least a decent Persona whose able to deal quite a decent damage, along with supports for lowering Def, Attack, etc. Mind Charge and/or Power Charge help dramatically.

Finally, the soundtrack is much too alternative for my liking. The battle theme is especially hideous, but most of the background music is also pretty weak.
I like the soundtrack, the battle theme is not bad. But I prefer the Boss battle theme and the tracks that are played while you have free afternoons.

I tried looking for this game for the past 4 days at every near local game store and they either don't carry it or it's sold out. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, I beat the game already. Harder than Persona 3 in my opinion. I thought the voice acting was pretty good, especially Naoto's and Yosuke's. Yeah, there were some parts where the dialogue seemed a bit awkward, but I thought it was something that could easily be overlooked. Overall, the game went above my own standards.

Persona 4 was one amazing game.
I clocked around 70 hours on one play through.
I started the series on Persona 3 and I loved it. It was such a new concept for me, A Social life simulation/RPG. The story is so mysterious and always keeps you hooked.

The day persona 4 came out I played it for 10 hours straight. I remember waiting for the mail to come in just so I could play it because of my Persona 3 memories.

It really inspired me to see where this series began and I went on ebay to get the original Persona for 161 dollars.

Trust me on this one, the series keeps getting better.

At first I couldn't figure out how time passed, either, but like you said, once you get used to it it's easy to get into a rhythm. The first time I ate at Aiya I thought, "Why did eating a beef bowl take so long?"

I love the music, though.

I really... wish I had read that earlier, because I've been focusing a lot on Social Links and I know I've missed a few answers because I haven't had enough Courage or Understanding. I just started July today, so I hope it's not too late. I just got Diligence to Strong (I think?), so all of my stats are at third level or above.
