Does anyone find Sims 2 to be boring? I mean, you basically do everything you do in real life. Isn't games all about doing something that you don't normally do in real life?

I love the Sims 2 and I have all the expansion packs. I haven't played in awhile though. My favorite thing to do is build houses. I tend to get carried away and build houses that my sims can never afford, such as a palazzo that's around 600k. I have some pictures but I'll post them later since I'm at work.
I just bought the Deluxe Edition and it's pretty fun. Too bad the graphics that my comp can handle isn't really all that, but I really did think that my freakin' graphics card could actually handle it.

I haven't had much time to play lately. I haven't bought any EPs since Pets (I don't even bother with the stuff packs... they're a waste of money).
Edit: I had to take down one of the pictures... supposedly it violated the terms of service. (Yet the other one remains.)

I don't have any of my sims pictures on this computer but I find this game annoyingly addictive. All I am doing is controlling another person, making them do various evil deeds along the way! But I don't have any of those awesome skins, I really want to make some but have no idea how to go about doing that.
However, I think the best way to play the Sims is to actually not play it and watch your crazy 13 year old sister instead, lol. I have some of the most insane stories about that girl's Sims that its scary. She has been obsessed with the Sim for a few years now so she started young.
The most scary thing I ever saw her do was the following...
She called me out from the living room into the dining room to look at the sims and told me that she had invited my sim around for a party at her place. Right-o I thought, I don't really care, lol. But I went to look just to shut her up.
On the screen we see India's sim dancing in front of a stereo which was out on the pool deck.
'Oh here you come, this is gonna be a cool party and soon you'll be my best friend''. I was like ah, ok India whatever you want to do. Sure enough in I come, she scrolls around the screen to follow my entrance. Then she pulls a little further down than she had previously. The stereo is still there but behind the stereo is a wall, a wall to an exitless room. Inside this exitless room are about 15 sims from around the neighbourhood screaming to be let out. India is acting like this is normal and is still yabbering on about how cool the party will be. Meanwhile I am horrified to see pee all over the ground, people crying in desperation and the grim reaper taking someone away. WTF?!? And my sim is going to her party!?!?
All these people at the party are having fun, dancing and swimming outside a room of horror. I was just thinking, my god my sim better be home when I log on tomorrow, lol. There was a psycho living in the neighbourhood and we were partying with her.
She was 11 years old and torturing people in a virtual sim world. I am worried, lol.
Another story, but when I was playing was when I hired a gardener. I love you have a lot of trees and such but am too lazy to look after them. So I hired a gardener. After a few days I noticed my flowers had died and I was just thinking, wth. Where's my damn gardener. Funnily enough his truck was actually outside my house. So I scrolled around the garden to find him and see him looking through my front window. I just thought weird and went about doing my normal stuff. However, after about a week this guy is still standing there looking through my window. Needless to say I had to go out and fire the guy, lol.
