Does anyone know what Singapore is?

Well, it's a country... My country, to be specific. I'm a citizen of Singapore.

That aside, I am rather curious about one thing. What exactly does non-Singaporeans think of Singapore?

I mean, we speak English in such a way that it is called 'Singlish'... We're known as a 'fine' city, thanks to our many fines... We're known to have the strictest laws.......

What else?

Please share your thoughts about this little island country. :sup:

The music in the international terminal of your airport is dreadful. I spent 7 hours there in transit between Sydney and London and by the end of it, I had been driven half way mad by constant stream of elevator jazz that just kept flowing through every single speaker in the place.

I have no opinion of the country as such (though I do know some singaporeans from other fora and they are all fine people), but the international terminal of the airport is the closest thing I've ever been to hell!

:lew: weird question

I had a teacher in school who was from singapore, she was such a cow -__- Told me more or less id never get anywhere in life:lew:
As for the question. I have no answer. I dont know the place, never been there so i dont really care about it. Funnily enough itsz somewhere i would visit though. My pal craig moved out there to live about 2 years ago and he loves it. It would be cool to go visit him and see what the lifestyle is like.

I know that Singapore is a city state - and a remarkably pretty place based on the images I have seen of it. I can't imagine it would be very cheap to live there though. Singapore is a place I would love to visit. I've always been interested in visiting the far east, so places like Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo are on the list.

I've heard about the extensive fines. It does sound annoying to be slapped with a fine for littering - intentionally or not - but at least the streets are clean I suppose and it instills discipline. I know someone who was born in Singapore telling me that discipline is something that is taught to children from a very young age - and something to be valued.

I have not really had any negative or positive thoughts on Singapore. I do love Singapore Rice Noodles... MMMMM, so good. In fact, I'm not even sure that SRN are authentic Singapore food....
