I've always been interested in learning how to cook someday. My mom has all these cookbooks around yet never gets around to making anything from them so I suppose it's up to me to realize those glorious munchies into real live, eatable food. :mokken:

Painting. As good as I am at drawing and sketching, painting has always stumped me. Might go for some classes in the future at the ole college.

Woodworking!
Obviously for making my own furniture and bats for fending off would-be hooligans. :mokken:

Piano/Guitar. I have both at home currently. I'm poor at best with both. I need lessons or self-teaching aids if I want to improve though. I'd like to be able to play Final Fantasy tunes on piano for a while now, so maybe it's a good time to start learning.

That's all for now as a starter piece for everyone else. Now it's your turn. :monster:

I would love to cook better than I do now. Being able to make my own food is awesome, but I would love to learn more.

The Violin is something I've always loved, and would love to learn how to play. Piano as well.

Blacksmithing: FUCK YEAH. I've seen people do it in real life, and it looks fucking awesome. I would love to be able to make and craft my own swords (and sell them to kids for absurd prices while denying I sold them anything).

Like the above poster, I wish I can play the violin. I can play the piano though, and pretty much every single song that I play comes from the Final fantasy piano collections album.

I have a violin at home, but I have not touched it for the past few months. Hopefully I will soon have the courage to learn the instrument.

I would love to learn either the electric guitar, harp and violin. And no I am not saying it just because the above posters did. XD

I've always loved that movie with Evan Rachel Wood, 'Little Secrets.' She plays the violin brilliantly in that movie!

I think she can actually play in real life too because she plays the violin in Pretty Persuasion too.

Anyway. The harp looks ridiculously hard and would be a good challenge. The guitar is my favourite though, so that is a must.

I would love to learn another language as well. Maybe two. Not quite sure what ones though. It just intrigues me when I hear some of my mates speaking to their family in a totally different language and then speak to me full on Aussie. You could never guess they could speak anything other than English if you didn't know them.

Learning Languages and Instruments are a definite skill I would love to acquire some day. =)

I would like to learn how to read and play music. I think the piano wold be the best choice to start. Then when I would have learned how to make good melodies, I could move to electronic music. I would love to learn how to make a good use of software like Reason and Ableton live. I tried a couple of years ago but it's really hard to make something good. My dream 5 years ago was to be a psytrance producer but most of the good ones went to music school and it took them years to make good tracks. When I would have learned all that I could finally make Final Fantasy Trance remixes.:awesome:

Beside music, I would love to learn a third language. Maybe japanese or spanish.

I would love to learn how to draw :sad3: I've got no art skill at all. :ahmed: Seriously, a blind person can do better than me.

I would love to be more of a multilingual person, i.e. familiar and fluent with more than one language. I know various words and phrases in Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese and German, and that's kind of my limit. Mandarin's quickly becoming a very significant language and I just think learning it could be rather beneficial and I'd like to visit (mainland) China and Taiwan someday. Not many westerners fully grasp languages such as Mandarin and Japanese and I'd love to accomplish that myself. xD

Painting is one skill I wouldn't mind having. I have no problems with drawing. I just cannot paint (or colour in things manually) to save my life. That was kind of why I never took Art at GCSE because I just feared painting and ruining my work with several strokes of the brush. I've seen examples of amazing paintings, including some from a child prodigy who has made large sums of money just by painting scenaries, and that just makes me rather miserable. xD

Oh yeah, cooking. That's rather important. I've done some basic cooking in the past, but it's still a skill I want to improve on. As university draws near, it may be in my best interest to learn how to get more proficient in cooking as it's a very important skill that everyone should have. ^^

I would love to learn how to cook. Even when I was a kid my dream was to be the best chef ever. I know a little about cooking now and I know some foods to cook because my mom is Romanian ,and so am i, i learned a lot of foods to cook with her. i always cook with her now. She even lets me cook steaks and meat when we grill.I might even go to college for cooking. If i am going to become a chef it's going to be because of her.

I'd like to learn how to read and speak japanese. Right now I'm working on trying to remember Katakana.

I'd like to learn to play piano. When I'd start to get good at it, I'd try to play some of favorite songs on it like Corneria from Starfox or Caramelldansen.

I would also like to learn to draw, specifically furries. I'm mediocre at it now but hopefully I'll get good at it.

I would also want to be a better Spriter than I am now. I still haven't got the hang of animating at really fast paces and special effects.

Lastly, I'd like to learn to be a skilled swordsman and fighter. I train in swordmanship and martial arts here at home but I don't know if I'd fare well against a opponent.

Oh good grief, there are so many I'd like :ffs: But here are a few--

Old-School Sailing Ship Maintenance:
I've always wanted to know how to sail one of those old pirate ships, like a clipper, schooner, man-of-war, etc. Not just know how to sail her, but be able to climb the riggings all over the place without getting tired, and just be strong enough in general to do all the tasks required for being a crewman on one of those. Like many of the skills I want to learn, it would be particularly useful if I get sucked into a time portal and need to get things done.

Blacksmithing:
My husband has an amateur forge set up in the yard, and he's been learning how to do this, and has started producing some great stuff--throwing knives, door knockers, tongs, sporks, and arrowheads (some of them Christmas presents for people in our family XD). When he first set it up and was just learning, I tried making a spoon myself, but because we were using the wrong metal and didn't know how to heat it properly, it didn't come out very well :/ However, now that he's learned a lot more about how to get good results, I'd like to go back to it at some point and try making something better, maybe after Christmas when I'm not quite so busy :hmmm:

Taking in clothes via sewing:
I've lost about 40 pounds since the last time I got any new clothes, and though I can get rid of some shirts which I don't care for anymore, I have a lot of old concert T-shirts that I'd like to keep, but are too baggy for me, so I'd like to learn how to take in the sides around the stomach area so that they would be shaped more like baby-doll tees and be more flattering. I might just have to go to a tailor in order not to ruin the best ones, but I'll have to see.

Baking truffles and donuts
: I'm really good at baking and decent at cooking, but I would love to be able to bake the types of sweets you normally have to buy from the store, so that I can always have the flavors I want. Like, when you buy a box of chocolate truffles, and you like some flavors in it but not others--if I could bake my own, I could make a whole batch full of just the flavors I liked :P And the same with donuts, since Dunkin Donuts is insistent on selling disgusting, barfalicious muffins and bagels and reducing their actual DONUT variety lately :hmph:

Steam power: As soon as we move into our new place and get settled, I'm setting up a steampunk lab for myself and am going to make a shitload of crazy inventions, because I've always wanted to and I know I can do it. However, there's a lot I don't know about the actual construction techniques and will have to do some research before I go about creating things right off the bat, so that I don't blow up the house and light my eyebrows on fire.

Animal tracking/natural navigation:
I think it would be incredibly useful to be able to track animals in the woods and be able to navigate using natural old-fashioned techniques, such as the stars, moss growing on the north side of trees, etc. I plan on taking lots of trips into forests throughout my life and it would be good to know these things for safety and convenience reasons.

Studio mixing/mastering techniques:
I have about twelve years of songwriting and recording experience, but I'm admittedly horrible at mastering, EQ, thresholds, compression, and just generally getting the overall sounds of the recordings to be good, particularly getting the air out of the vocals. I think it would be wonderful to know how to do this, but it's very hard to learn because any clinic you go to for it is never for absolute beginners, and it's not something that can be easily described in books; you pretty much have to know someone IRL who can teach you on an actual machine how to do it.

Automotive mechanics: It's an interesting skill to learn and would be rather useful. I intend to learn a lot about my car after watching my cousin work on the Honda today as it just seemed really rewarding.

Last edited:
like blaky here, I've always had somewhat of an interest in pursuing a culinary career. I know enough to buy groceries and raw meat to cook and feed myself with, but I've always kinda admired the idea of being a chef.

I want to learn how to properly sew. I hate having to go to other people and asking them to hem a pair of my pants D: And I'd like to make my own clothes or costumes someday.

I would also love to learn how to draw or paint. Right now I can only make stick figures XD

I want to learn Italian because my sister in law is from Italy and it would be fun to learn her language. I also want to get better at sign language because I have a niece and nephew who are deaf. They now have hearing aids, but it will be a while before they can communicate fluently with words.

I'd love to improve my skill with the piano, guitar, violin and sax. I can play them all, and piano reasonably well, but I'm nowhere near as good as I'd like to be. I really need to learn how to sight-read music. :wacky:

I'd like to improve my creative writing so I plan to start writing daily. I'd also love to draw more easily; even though I can draw reasonably well and often achieve the quality I want to, it takes me several hours to complete a relatively simple piece.

I would LOVE to learn a language. French, Japanese or Chinese... I envy the people who are bilingual. :wacky: I'd love to be able to visit a country for a few months and feel comfortable talking to the people. :)

Id love to be able to play guitar/drums/the piano, im sure i could probably learn, but im not very well coordinatedi cant even walk in a straight line, I cant even multi task, and im a woman, im suppoesed to be good at that shit

It'd be pretty cool if i knew some martial arts or other, but again, coordination, id end up killing myself in some freak accident

foreign languages would be cool too, i was always dreadful at it at school though

I've always wanted to play violin. It's one of the few instruments I like the sound of a lot, and it's so pretty :jess: I wish I started that when I was younger.

I wish that I did gymnastics. All the amazing gymnasts who can do quadruple back handsprings and all this other amazing stuff started when they were very young. I wish I did so I could spin and do flips in the air :sad3:

I want to learn Japanese :gonk: I love Japan so much :jess: I've been taking Latin and French the past few years and I'm decent at them, too bad neither of them help with learning Japanese.

I would like to learn that thing where you bounce a coin across your fingers, upwards and downwards. I think it has an actual name, but I do not know it. I wish I could wear hats, but no hat looks good on me. It is my greatest shame

drawing.. consiering that i do an drawing unit at uni i'm not very good at it.. i'm good at looking and drawing.. i done a decent drawing of yuna once.. but yh i would love to be able to draw

I'd love to learn the obvious things like:

Instrument, I've always wanted to learn the Violin like my idol Ashley McIsaac, he is so fantastic and makes the instrument sound fucking badass. Though I don't want an ordinary boring Violin, I want an electric one. Because they are amazing. I also wouldn't mind learning acoustic guitar, which reminds me I need to remember to steal my friends off her :hmmm:

Language, I love learning languages, unfortunately I don't have the mental capacity to retain the things I learn unless they are insults. German is the language I really want to learn though.

Drawing, I can draw okish... but I'd love to learn realism. I also used to want to be a cartoonist back in the day, I'd love to be able to draw and pick up that dream again.

Sports, any kind of sporting talent would be good, I don't care which one, I just wish I wasn't so lazy and unco.

That's it for now.
