Playstation So, who's getting a Vita?

With the Vita almost about to hit the retailers, is anyone planning on getting it? If you are, is the 3G model a worthwhile purchase, or are you just sticking to the Wi-Fi model that isn't 3G equipped? What are you planning to get with it at launch and what game do you hope to get for the Vita that is somewhere on the close horizon?

Or are you just unsure about it in general and would prefer to wait a year or so to see what its game library will be like and whether its price can go down first before making a purchase?

I won't be touching the Vita anytime too soon. I know Uncharted for the Vita is alone making the Vita launch line the best in ages, but it isn't enough to convince me to fork out £210 for the system and around £30-40 more for a good memory card. I wouldn't even do that if I'm not tight with money as I am now.

So far, there is nothing too terrifically compelling yet. I wouldn't mind playing Persona 4 and Little King's Story 2 on the Vita, but it would take a lot more than a series of ports and re-releases to do anything for me.

Besides, I never ever buy a new machine at launch anyway, purely because there is nothing too compelling to play and there will likely be good deals later on down the line somewhere from non-specialist stores like Argos or Asda.

i'm getting a vita, i got the psp at launch 5 odd years ago now, and my psp has been played to death, soo I ended up getting a vita on launch, got a good deal on amazon for 250 quid

i'm getting the wi-fi only model, i really don't see me having a use for the 3g, as if i want to download games i would do that on my unlimited broadband at home, and 3g is too slow for online mutiplayer. I managed to get a 8GB memory card for free, and the game I'm getting is blazblue

as for games coming out soon, persona 4, always wanted to play that and I played/loved persona 3 and 2 via psp, keep the trend going with the vita, also FFXHD as well, sorry the sound of having FFX on the go just sounds too good. assassin creeed on the vita would be kool as well

I don't think I'll bother. I would have for FFX, but that's coming to PS3 anyway, so I'll just get that version. As for Persona 4...that's the only game that I really want for the Vita. Maybe when there's a bigger library

I would have to find out first if and when the Vita will be released here in Kyrgyzstan. If it is I will buy it when there are more interesting games available.

It's a very neat piece of kit and there are a few games I'm interested in (particularly Uncharted and FFXHD), but it's far too expensive. I guess I could afford it with money from work, but I'd rather save the money. :/ I still have 8 games to complete on the PSP - I've never completed one - and a few on the D.S. Furthermore, I haven't loved handheld consoles since the GBA. I much prefer home consoles. The only game I'm interested in that's exclusive to the PSPVita is Uncharted...and I'm not £300 interested, which would be the total cost of the console, memory card and game. O_O

Even though I can afford the Vita, I simply do not want one right now. I've played around with one and they're much too big for my tastes. (about 2x's bigger than a psp) In addition to it being too bulky, the hardware also feels very flimsy, and there aren't any compelling games for it. So really, it's too expensive, not small enough, and doesn't have any games I want right now.

Maybe I'll get one in 2 or 3 years when a newer smaller model is released and a price drop or two. ^^

I've had a Vita on pre-order for about six months now; I sold my Xbox360 and had the funds put on a gift card, since I didn't want to lose about 40% of the value of it by taking cash over store credit...and, unfortunately, that isn't an overstatement. Since I tend to buy almost everything I want online these days to save money, and since I had nothing else to spend the money on, I figured...why not? I was eventually going to wind up with a Vita one way or the other - of all my consoles, I've probably played my PSP the most - so getting it on launch day, something I've never done before, seemed like the thing to do.

I'm getting a Wifi model, because I'm not paying for 3G. I will NEVER pay for online services on a games console, that was one of the reasons I sold my 360 in the first place. It's extortion; I'm not going to keep on paying for my console after that initial payment, it's not a fucking mortgage. Games-wise, I'll be getting Gravity Rush, because it's the only title that interests me. The gameplay is intriguing, the art style reminds me of El Shaddai, and the soundtrack reminds me of Resonance of Fate. It's a very appealing game...even if it is download only in this country for some stupid reason.

Although I will get Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention when it comes out, and I'll be praying for a Tales of Innocence R localization. The inevitable Monster Hunter with dual analogue, whether it be Portable 3rd, a new game, or even Freedom Unite, will occupy me for several hundred hours as well. The Vita has a lot of potential (especially if, like the PSP, it becomes the home of all the niche JRPGs that everyone overlooks) and, given how many hours I've had out of my PSP, I've no doubt the Vita will live up to my expectations, and sooner than the 3DS will.

Most likely the 3G model, since my phone is only wifi enabled.

My PS3 is kinda broken, so a PSVita may be a good alternative to play classic PS games.

I'm looking forward to play FFType-0 (assuming it's ever localized, and is compatible to Vita), FFX Remaster, the classic FFs.

Nope. I only got a PSP last year and the Vita is far too expensive right now. I think I'd prefer to to buy myself a PS3 which I STILL haven't got. I bought a 360 years ago for Mass Effect and because it was cheaper. Now I miss Sony D: So next pay day a PS3 will be getting purchased

Not any time soon. The selection of games for it is terrible. Most are ports and the rest are very unappealing to me. I'll buy one eventually to play Persona 4 on the go or Uncharted: Golden Abyss, but that's about all that looks good so far. It's going to have a worse launch than the 3DS, and unlike the 3DS, doesn't have anything redeeming coming anytime soon.

I'm looking to get a new Sony handheld to play old PS games (as they look crap on HDTV) and PSP-only games that I can download from the PS Store anyway. My PSP was stolen about 3 years ago so currently have no Sony handheld at all. I don't think I'll bother with the PSP-GO so might just get a second-hand PSP3000 to tie me over until im happy with the Vita.

Watch out - I've read that the Vita doesn't play the PS One Classics as of now.
That's the main reason I won't be getting one yet - once they announce that the Vita will play PS One Classics - Vita will be in my hands. Till then trusty ol' PSP will do.

No I will not get a vita, I am not a fan of handheld games, I find they don't really have anything on them that ever interest me (besides pokemon on the nintendo systems) I much prefer to look at my tv's big screen playing on a home console. Though I guess if one day it comes out with a few games I reallllyyyy want and the price drops by A LOT I might consider it.

Considering that my PSP rarely ever got used, I doubt I'll be in a hurry to get a Vita.

I'm not particularly keen on the idea of getting a new handheld console in general... I rarely use them at all. I still need to complete quite a few of my PSP games.

The only Vita game that attracts me is the Uncharted game that they're releasing for it.

At best, I'll wait for a massive price drop and buy it from ebay for a very cheap price.

I don't think I'll buy one... YET, I just got a PSP and PS3 in a short amount of time ago and I Really can't save up the money needed to buy this one till I find some work -.-.

TBH I need to read up on what it even does, I tend to be lazy when looking up on new products from sony ~.~
