I've gotten a few e-mails from friends about this, seeing as they've known I'm a geek when it comes to playing FF8. They E-mailed me about not being able to find a few items needed to make each character's "uber weapons," or powerful spells, etc. I've found a few of them while looking around (it took a lot of precious time to find some of them). I don't have some items listed here because either I haven't found them, or it means you can easily get it from common enemies or by refining easily obtained items. I've had other things to do, so I didn't have enough time to do a more thorough search. :P PM's with more to add to this list is mighty appreciated. Here we go. :)

Adamantine: You'll need these to make some of the best weapons. Go to Long Horn Island near Dollet; you can occasionally fight Adamantoises on
the beaches there, and they'll drop Adamantines fairly often.

Aura Stone: Learn Tonberry's Familiar ability. Then buy Power Wrists or
Hypno Crowns from the Esthar Pet Shop and use Tool-RF to make them into Aura Stones.

Barrier: Mug Behemoths.

Cactus Thorns: Frequently won from Cactaurs.

Curse Spike: You'll need 100 of these to make a Dark Matter. They can be stolen from Tri-Faces, and occasionally won from Forbiddens, Malboros, Tri-Faces, Imps, Creeps, and Grand Mantises.

Dark Matter: This can be refined into some useful items. Get Siren up to
Level 100, then get 100 Curse Spikes and use Tool-RF on them.

Dino Bone: Mug T-Rexaurs to get these.

Dragon Fang: Needed for the Lionheart. Blue Dragons drop them more often than other enemies; you can find them on the Island Closest to Hell and the forests of Trabia.

Dragon Fin: Mug Grendels.

Dragon Skin: Anacondaurs drop them fairly often.

Energy Crystal: You'll be using quite a number of these if you're trying
to make everyone's best weapons. Fight the regenerating Elnoyle in
Esthar to get all you need.

Fury Fragment: Mug Blue Dragons to get it.

Inferno Fang: Mug Ruby Dragons.

Laser Cannon: Mug high-level Elastoids or the Mobile Type 8 boss.

Lightweights: You can win them from Vysages.

Malboro Tentacle: Defeat or Mug Malboros.

Moon Stone: Mug the regenerating Elnoyle for these.

Power Generator: Occasionally obtained by Mugging high-level Blitzes.

Red Fang: Mug Hexadragons.

Star Fragment: Mug Iron Giants. A number of enemies on the Island Closest to Hell drop them, too.

Whisper: Mug Adamantoises.

Wizard Stones: Buy Magic, GF, Draw, or Item Scrolls from the Timber Pet Shop and use Tool-RF to make them into 10 Wizard Stones each.

Like I said earlier, not enough time to find more of these "special/important" items. PM me if you have more.

I don't really see how any of these count as easy-to-miss or even missable items. I thought missable items were those items that if you miss them at a certain point in the game, you actually can't get them again. And for some of those listed (malboro tentacles, adamantine, cactus thorns) it seems fairly obvious where to get them.

It's a useful list nevertheless, so thanks very much, TheOriginalChaos!

I guess actual easy-to-miss items would include stuff like Str-Ups from Rajin, and the Spd-J scroll from Cerberus. Even those can be retrieved elsewhere though, I guess. One or two cards are one shots though, like Squall and Laguna, if memory serves correct.

The last Weapons monthly, (which is the first chronlogically) If you missed it in the last flashback scene with laguna, you cannot get it again and that means no lionheart

You can get the lionheart without the weapons mag, infact you don't need ANY of the magazines so long as you have the items in your inventory, so if you miss it, its not the end of the world

Only thing Ive ever really had issues with is gathering energy crystals, if only I knew about that elnoyle in esthar soner, I used to have a right 'mare gathering those

can you explain some more on those energy crystals again??
( i spent hours playing cards trying to get 30 elnoyle cards for the ultimate weapons!!)
luckily i mugged some cannons from the elastoids for the lionheart but i'm having trouble with those crystals..........

Aren't most of those items used to make the character's ultimate weapons? If so, i guess i know what im going to be doing the next couple days..

If you're too lazy to mug Adamantoises, just refine Minotaur card. You get 10, and you only need 3 for ultimate weapons.
(Sorry for the short post -_-)

To be honest, these items don't seem to be that easy to miss (very possible, though). 'Course, I did have trouble with the energy crystals. They were pretty annoying to get.
