My first console was a Sega MegaDrive, so yeah i've played Sonic a lot, really looking forward to Sonic 4 because it looks just like the older/good ones but a bit polished, I really can't stand the new Sonic games, they just don't feel the same and don't feel...what's that word? FUN.
The older ones were genuienly fun, and I loved them to death, still play them from time to time.
