Okay... I missed MGS1, but I loved MGS2, and MGS3 is quite possibly my favourite all-time game.

Now I've had MGS: PO for a while, but never played it; in fear it would suck more ass the AC!D. Fortunately, I got a lot done today as I was sick, so I missed school. I played some FF, and busted this game out. Amazing. Like.. I actually think that if the cutscenes weren't all comic (it was seriously giving me a headache with all of them being like that), and the way they were in MGS3, I know it could've been done, or maybe a lesser version of it, but not comics. Cartoons I could deal with, but not comics.

Anyway, if it was not comics, this probably would've been my second favourite game (Snake Eater being my favourite).

Now to what my topic is about. I'm going to buy a PS3 for Christmas. And ONLY because of MGS4. I'm not liking any of the games for it yet, including FFXIII. Kojima, you bastard, MGS4 better be worth $800. But can assume by the last 2 MGS's I've played, it will.

Your thoughts?
 
First of all, buying a system for one game is not a good idea. Once you finish that game, what are you going to do?

Second, MGS4 is going to be a lot different than MGS 2 and 3.

Third, it's only $500 for the cheapest PS3, and if you get one, you better do it now. Sony is planning on removing the chips that make it backward compatible with the PS1, but it is not certain.

People did it for Halo and are doing it again for Halo 3.

Not really relative. MGS2 and MGS3 were very different from each other. They really change the game in each iteration while keeping the same formula of weird story, bad-a** characters, and fun gameplay of sneaking.

Not true. They're taking out the Emotion Engine chip which is the PS2 emulator. This just means its not 100% compatible with all PS2 games. And they're doing software emulation so it can always be updated if they want, (though they probably wont). But it supports more than Xbobx360 does Xbox games I THINK. Removal of this chip has has nothing to do with PS1 compatibilty.


But yea, please do not buy a PS3 just for one game. $800 for one game is ridiculous. Just rent a PS3, or if it comes out on 360, and play it for the amount of time you will enjoy it.
 
Yeah dont buy it for 1 game
i would only buy it if there were alot more games out that i liked

MGS3 is my fav game as well ans mgs2 is cool but you need to play MGS1!!!!

On topic, I heard that it might affect PS1 and PS2 games, but that's just what i heard. Anyways, MGS4 is going to be a HUGE difference than you would think. They are really putting some great ideas into this game, but I think you should figure those out for yourself :D:D
 
^^Yeah, apparently if you try to run PS1 and PS2 games in the PS3, the blue ray (or whatever else it is :P) wears down the graphics. There is a video for it on youtube, comparing the the graphics on each console with MGS2 (yay!).

I read on GameFAQs that Sony wasn't selling 20Gig (or whatever is the lowest one) anymore, so I'd have to get the better one anyway.

And I just want really badly to continue the story... Because, I just love the storylines of the ones I've played.

And Gabranth, I want to play MGS1 badly, but the EBgames in my area never have it in, and Im not a huge fane of eBay :dry: .

My post did contribute, I don't care what he does with his money since it doesn't affect me. He can do whatever he wants in the end, and I trust he isn't an idiot so why should I say something to change his mind on something he has already decided upon?

Contributing to a thread does not involve saying "I do not care", it involves supporting the subject, which happens to be the PS3 system and MGS4. Also, you don't have to support him, you can give your own opinions, just try to have a better attitude towards the subject other than "I don't care".

On Topic, Again...
The best places to get MGS1 are in stores Pawn Shops, or in gaming shops that allow people to trade in older games (I have a Game Crazy in my area, but i don't know if there is one near where you are XD). Otherwise, Online is your best bet. You could alwyas try amazon.com, they are usually better than Ebay.

I fail to see any evidence there that says he wanted a long post of the subject which was our thoughts on what he was going to do, I gave my opinion of the matter so did what would be expected of me.
 
Does anyone even know why sony is going to take out the emotion engine out of the PS3.There is only one answer that I know of but I wanna see if any of you know it.Other than that $600 for a PS3 it was worth it I can finally play alot of good games like Resistance fall of man and thats about it for now that is the only game I own since I don't plan on Buying Devil May Cry 4.

As of now, they are still losing money on each system sold, so they are trying to make the PS3 cheaper to make.

A quick example, a current blue-ray player costs about $1,000, while the PS3 costs about $600. Now add in all the hardware in the PS3 (cell processor, graphics, etc.) and it will be more than their shelf price of about $600, so for every one sold, they are actually losing money. So be thankfull they are willing to lose money to keep the price of the PS3 down below $1,000.

Well thats a reason that they are going to take some stuff off or make the PS3 more expensive.But the reason that they are taking off the Emotion engine is cause the only way you can use the PS3 loader is having the emotion engine if u don't have the first PS3's(there might still be some out though)its kinda useless.But I am lucky enough to have the first PS3's so once the PS3 loader come's out its gonna be fun with the loader you will be able to download the PS3 games and add them to your PS3 HDD.
 
PS3 loader? Enlighten me on this cause I have no idea what you're talking about.

About the whole PS1/PS2 games looking bad on PS3....
I've already addressed this in several posts so it gets tiresome and I will make it very simple and concise.
Recent Firmware update for PS3 = It emulates the graphics perfectly now.


They're taking the emotion engine to cut costs. Simple as that. I really do not think it has anything to do with a loader or whatever you're talking about Meiks. If by Loader you mean PSNetwork, then tell me why it affects it.

And they will not...NOT make the PS3 more expensive. They can't afford to. And why would they with development costs getting progressively cheaper?

EDIT: Oh yeah, this topic was about Metal Gear...sorta.

Does anyone think the online will be any different then what they did in Subsistence and Portable Ops?
 
Omg are you fricken serious man *sighs* well the PS3 iso loader is the program that you will put on the PS3 to play the games you have downloaded from the internet.Well I think you should have a fast connection cause the games as you know are huge in size like the resistance fall of man game I think its about 14 gigs.So basically the PS3 iso loader is going to be great.
 
You do realize an ISO loader is illegal.
And once someone does release a functional ISO loader, Sony will probably patch the hole immediately.

With Sony owning Blu-Ray, I think they will fight off piracy a little harder than DVD ever tried to.

And listing that as a reason Sony is taking out the emotion engine is ridiculous. If anything, people are exploiting this because Sony is taking it out.

Yes I think i knew that 2 weeks ago and thats why i never update my stuff like my PSP or PS3.The only way that the ISO loader works is with the emotion engine without that it will never work.And about the Blu-ray there are already about 5 blu-ray movies online so I don't know why sony thinks it can stop the piracy.But I am not that messed up thats why I buy the movies for the PS3 I don't download much.
