Are you one of the 13 people who hasn't purchased a PlayStation 2 but really wants to sing off key with your friends? Well, Sony has a deal for you.

For $149.99, you'll be able to pick up SingStar Pop, two microphones and the brand-new Ceramic White PlayStation 2 when the latest Sony bundle ships in November. The company says the move is part of its initiative to emphasis social gaming this holiday.

"With our expansive library of titles for PlayStation, led by social gaming experiences such as SingStar, and Buzz!, we have an incredible offering for first-time gaming families," said Jack Tretton, SCEA's president and CEO, in a news release. "At $149, the limited edition Ceramic White PlayStation 2, bundled with the family-friendly social gaming title, SingStar Pop, is an unbeatable value that will provide fun for everyone this holiday."



SingStar Pop features 30 songs and six medleys from artists such as U2, Gorillaz and 3 Doors Down and challenges players to sing along with pitch and timing indicators on the screen to score points and bring down the house. The Ceramic White PS2 and Dual Shock controller feature all of the bells and whistles -- DVD and CD playback, digital surround sound, memory card slots, Ethernet port, etc. -- that the other slim models of the system have.

YES! I'm definitely getting this since I haven't bought a PS2 yet.I need to play FFVII-IX and FFX and XII so this would be great.I'll be able to play Shadow Hearts Convenant again,which has been sitting on my book shelf for months. *excited* ^_^

Plus,I'll get that singing game along with it and this would go great with my DS Lite.
 
Ah!

The white looks hagard. They should have just left it black, or go old-school Playstation gray. That would be the sqweep.
 
I think the white looks pretty darn good. I agree with this being a good deal for family gaming. Sony's answer to Nintendo's Wii maybe?
 
Why bother now? PS3, XBox 360 and Wii sales will start picking up soon with Christmas just around the corner, so this is just a pointless way to whore out the PS2 before it dies totally.
 
Saying its with Singstar it looks like its aiming it towards the younger generation.
 
But still, there are little no games coming out for PS2 now, at least nothing worthy of mention. There's no need to do this.
I'd rather just spray paint my PS2 white anyway; it's a lot cheaper.
 
With the correct firmware updates, I believe they can.
To be honest, you'd be better saving your money and then buying a PS3. PS2's are nothing special.
 
I think it comes in black also... this guy I know has one and it's black. But he may have just hacked up an old PS2 and switched in a black cover.
 
Lol..another one...this is nothing new...buy it if you want..it is still a PS2,..and you get the mics for free technically...and a game :)..and Singstar is fun.....

People slag off Singstar cos they get embarassed about doing it mostly....but when you have a party going in the house, even just few mates around it can be really really fun....it is a cool little game....

Last year I bought same package for my daughter, though everyone has been doing singstar in the house since then,...it is as I said very fun and addictive......PS2 Singstar package I bough was pink. It came with pink slim PS2, pink memory card, 2 pink controllers, 2 microphones, and a game.

If you don't have a PS2 and you want to replay those PS2 games without shelling out a fortune for a new PS3, I say go for it if you want. I wouldn't buy it since I already own a PS2 and currently play mainly my Xbox 360, but it does look Old School with the original Playstation color.
