I love two.
Cute picture, cut colours and nice patterns behind the girl. Text is a bit simple but it still works well.
The little light source on the girls left side bothers me a tiny bit but it's not that distracting :)

I liked one as well but the colours could have been a little brighter or something, it just looks a little washedout unfortunately :(

Not really a big amount of entries this week. I don't think we can be too picky. ;)

I'm sorry, but I don't see how either of these are even music-related. :/ But I guess as far as which one sticks to the theme, #2 would be the one. I really like the idea behind it.

Violin (in #1) isn't music to you?

I voted for #2 because it's so colorful and refreshing. The vectors used are so fitting. I myself find it hard to incorporate too many vectors into a sig, and this particular one did great in it! Great text too.

#1 has some nice effects, but the render seems a bit LQ.

#1 I like the pastelly feel here! ^_^ The slightly rough background makes the entire piece feel a little like a painting. The colours are soft, too, like watercolours. The softness of the background works very well with the render; had the background been more vibrant, the right hand side could have distracted from the main point of focus. My only real qualm is the text, which is a little hard. :hmmm: It doesn't feel like part of the piece, though the placement and size are good. A more rounded font may have worked better.

#2 is so glossy! :jess: I love the overall composition of thie piece. The vectors are stylish - somehow, they suggest the girl is surrounded in music! - and the colours are well balanced. The lighting effects work well to blend the render in without washing out the effects. I'm not 100% sure about the smudging, particularly that around the girl's hair, as it creates a messiness which doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the piece. The text is fantastic. :lew: I've always been fond of light text with a stroke. ^.^

It was pretty close, but I picked #2 :)

2, easily.

I do not mean to be discouraging towards entrant 1, but something that many, many people prefer in these types of artwork is that the image is clear, or at least, that the focus is not noisy and littered with scanlines and etc. It also feels like there is not much going on in the background there, where there could be some kind of smudging or grunge techniques, for example.

I also feel like 2 is missing some critical elements as well, but the image is clear, the selection of text is good and brushes/vector masks used on the focus compliment the overall style. It feels like the light is a little strong though, if not compensating for some of the parts of this signature that are missing.

First thing that came to mind when I saw #1:

XD Which of course ensured my vote! I love her pissed off face and the colors and effects are very subtle, but definitely appropriate for the piece. Spot on judgement there, I love it and the glossy feel to it. Whoever did this, will have to tell me how they pulled it off.

Of course, #2 is just as excellently done. I like the splatters, as if they came from the paintbrush, and the bright tones are great. The background feels a tad bit flatter than #1 though (which had a kind of grain texture) but I don't think it detracts at all. It's bright, colorful, and well done.

It's clear both these pieces were made by masters. It's a tough choice to make but win or lose, both artists should know they did an incredible job!

Another congratulations to Six for winning this week's SOTW.

Thanks to those who voted & entered.

As you may have noticed, as of next week's SOTW/AOTW (threads will go up soon) we're starting the counter back at 1. Syncing up the A/SOTW's and of course with an upgraded new forum comes a fresh start. =]
