Guys, really? Lol, all in all it's a fair point. Get off each other's back. =P

I just had a feeling it was coming down to "biased" voting of friends voting for friends and it irks me

This has happened before though. :lew: Nothing to get worked up over if it's brought up. Tis a fair point, this one.

We'll look in to it, guys. =]

I know it was brought up in the past... and if I can recall it caused drama. :wacky:

But you're right :ari:

btw, I love SOTW#6's them :cali:

Really? Awesome! ♥

You guys all better enter it, we really need 500 entries. :wacky:

This^

Going by your logic, riddick. There will never be a fair structure to this because I myself can name every gfx artist that enters solely by their style. as can many others, therefor making it unfair and biased. See, there's always a loophole. :ari:

This is really bitching about nothing, tbqh. :hmmm:
If so I would have won all the clan challenges because I obviously have the most friends and is loved the most on efefef. :mokken:

I wonder if anyone realizes how shady and untrustworthy Cali and Toni sound. :hmm:

Someone points out a way to possibly make graphic challenges more fair and unbiased and you oppose it because _______? Because you believe I'm an uncultured barbarian who should never be taken seriously on anything who is incapable of intelligence? That's an extremely biased and prejudiced a view to have in any regard.

Its like someone suggesting a decent method to fix the us economy and create jobs and someone opposing it because... they have guilty consciences? Maybe they stand to lose from it and feel a need to defend their own self-interests?

In Toni's case, she takes extreme pride in pretending that everything I say and do is geico caveman stupidity level simply because she personally dislikes me. Then, she tries to pretend that she is an unbiased paragon of fairness and virtue and that petty things like discrediting someone due to a petty personal dislike are "beneath her". I wonder how its possible she thinks I would take her seriously considering how ridiculous and contradictory she is. :hmmm:

...

Anyways, if anything your responses only cause my opinion of these challenges to drop.

I'm losing respect for you guys. Not that there was much there to begin with. :elmo:

Guys, please.

This is a not a who vs. who thing, alright? Richard B Riddick, I said I will look in to it, I can't do much on my own seeing SOTW is originally run by Jay. I think you do have a valid point, but not because of how 'people' are, only for the simple fact that it should be a fair competition in all ways possible, and people should feel comfortable about it.

I do not agree about making digs at personalities, that's an opinion about someone and that is completely irrelevant to this case, so please. Keep an eye out for any updates on this, because I will talk to Jay, in the mean time, if you find it needed to call each other out, or state opinions, do so by PM.

Stay on topic, please. ;)

The only reason I was 'opposed' to the idea was because it sounded like it would cause more work for the people running SOTW, having to save and re-upload the sigs. In my case I do not go clicking on the links in sigs of the week etc just so I can tell who it belongs to just so I can vote for the people I like. I am not sure if that is something you do or don't but, I do not.

I'm not arguing :wacky: I just thought it was unnecessary and would cause extra work just because you are untrusting of people. But if Kira and Jay think it's a good idea and want to go with it then let them. You brought it up and shared your opinions and I said mine.

:mokken: I don't appreciate being attacked, I thought we were pals, Riddick. :sad2:

Just make it a rule that entries be uploaded to tinypic.com, imageshack, or another anonymous host with non-identifying file names?

No re-upload required. Its not complicated & there's no extra work involved? :hmm:

When did I attack you? :LJ: All I did is note your tendency to treat me as if I were mentally handicapped due to your personal dislike of me, sometimes, and point out how it may contradict some of the things you've said. Not a big deal?

If a person RIGHT CLICKS the above image you will notice that the URL you see is http://tinyurl.com/ruhppynw.

The anonymous factor is back in black.
Hopefully no one here will explain how you get the URL again. :ari:

Also, I do not like using IMGshack because I think it's one; ugly two; ugly and three; I hate the popups.

I also do not like tinypic because it has been deleting people's things and it automatically downgrades the quality of a tag.

:okay:

1. Its worth mentioning as not all hosts randomize file names like some hosts do. :elmo:

2. How can imageshack be "ugly" when there's no perceivable difference between a file hosted there & one hosted on photobucket? Its not as if there are ads or banners plastered over images which decrease quality of service.

3. I haven't seen a popup on imgshack in more than a year. Popups & such aren't necessarily the fault of a host but rather typically involve aggressive advertisers who abuse terms of service.

4. Click on the renders link in my sig. Look at the date of the post. It says november 8th 2011. My files are still hosted even though they haven't received any traffic. I have images from 2+ years ago that still work. Why pretend all hosts are unreliable & offer poor service? What you're saying sounds vaguely prejudiced and biased & does constitute cherry picking on your part.

5. The only arguments I can see for photobucket is the control it offers over images in terms of being able to delete files, etc. Also that it doesn't display graphics under a "recently uploaded" category publicly when they're first uploaded. And also that people might feel protective over their work & would rather keep images private? Yes, there are decent arguments for photobucket -- it may be that its difficult to put into words?

6. Anyways, despite what you may think I never intended to be overbearing or an ass about this. I'm moreso someone who tries to empathize about shit & be considerate -- which is probably why some ppl don't take me seriously & mistakenly believe they can push me around. They mistakenly interpret me being nice as a sign of weakness. But, wateverz.

Eh, don't take that seriously. Your art has looked awesome of late.

I doubt you realize it but I replied to posts last night trying to bump this thread to the bottom of the stack in the hope that I wouldn't see it again for a few months, minimum.

If the only thing you have to say is: I will fight to my last breath to ensure ppl can use photobucket, don't bother -- it may have been obvious a long, long, time ago.

This seems like an extremely dumb topic to disagree over... :hmm: Maybe its best to forget about it. It is your contest, run it any way you want.

I can't explain it, riddick. Maybe it's because I get hundreds of views for an image that I slap up. I don't know.
All I know is that I've had multiple gfx that i've hosted on that site that I've been on for what.... three to four
years now, and they get deleted for no reason at all. I'm not going to waste time on uploading to a site
that will face the chance of deleting my hard work.

It also lags down my computer.

Imageshack, FOR ME, has TONS of popups. Just the other day, I viewed a friends picture on image shack and an annoying pop up came up for some german dating site. I don't want this.

It's not MY contest either. It's Jay's and Kira's.

I just have a problem with people taking something so... small and turning it into a "friends are voting for friends" drama llama fest. Can't people learn the humility of losing without accusing the majority of others that they have voted on a biased and unfair foundation? That seems to be your biggest problem, right? You feel as though friends are voting for friends, right? Cuz that's what you said.

We're mature adults we're not gonna vote for our best buddy's stuff. I've had countless pals of mine vote for someone else entirely even though I'm sure they know it's my entry.

Reality check, people vote for what looks the best to them.

:)

While we are on the topic, I think imgur is better than photobucket. It also has an anonymous link. BUT if you sign up, it will allow you make the images private, organise them, delete them and view them. I am starting to love it, and I doubt it will fail in the future.

Uh, why continue considering I just finished saying to forget about it? :hmm:

Hmmm. I could offer a retort to that but I won't. :x3:

I'll just say: wat-eva.

I just have a problem with people taking something so... small and turning it into a "friends are voting for friends" drama llama fest.

I didn't turn it into a "friends are voting for friends" anything. No. One. Did.

Anyways, this is probably my last attempt to explain this.

Sometimes, I see people list for reasons for voting for something & I think they're completely wrong in their analysis. And, yeh, I do wonder sometimes if people are biased, some days. But, when are judges or referees perfect? :elmo: Have you ever disagreed with a judge on american idol? Or, a referee in a sporting event? If the answer is: yes, then from where comes the idea judging systems are perfect? :ohshit:

I don't think I'm blame gaming. The only thing that concerns me is how easy it was to lookup who created what and how measures might be taken to help prevent it from negatively influencing the judging process.

This isn't the first time I brought something like this up. :hmm: I PM'ed Lirael a few weeks ago pointing out that it may be possible to determine who authored what story in the FF VI writing challenge by looking at the fonts. If you want I'll forward the PM. Did I bring it up because I couldn't learn the humility of losing? I didn't enter the FF VI writing contest. I didn't vote. I just noticed it wasn't as anonymous as it could be and it might negatively influence a person's choice in terms of who they voted for.

Same concept applies, here. It seems like after the first day or two, people stop voting for aotw & sotw. So, I thought it didn't matter if I point out how easy it is to lookup author by host as people are probably done voting & the threads won't be bumped until next saturday...

In a way, it seems as if you're quoting me out of context and twisting things to illustrate me in a sinister and negative light. :hmm:

The only reason I'm doing this is because I think a more anonymous arrangement would be beneficial and help promote unbiased and fair judging. Which isn't to imply that there's a conspiracy or devious plot in play. It is possible for people to be biased without realizing it which is why it may be beneficial to support anonymous hosts.

But, eh. I'm not really sure what it is you believe takes precedence over that, so its somewhat pointless to discuss.. :hmm:

We're mature adults

I think a mature adult avoids jumping to conclusions and assuming things about people. :elmo:

:hmmm:

There are times when I look at sotw and clan challenge voting and think voting is screwed up and people are just voting for their friends and those who are in the same clan as them.

Coming from the guy that said people are voting for their friends. :hmmm:

Nonetheless, I agree. Mature adults don't make accusations of others.

Kira! I think you and Jay should use imgur (whatever the hell that is) or my tinyURL site... that way no one can complain.

Problem solved! :ari:

I don't know, guys. Sent a PM, so it's 'in discussion', I'm rather indifferent about this whole thing. We'll see what happens when I hear back from Jay, and the likes. ;)

While I love the fuck out of Imgur, the only downside to it, is that the amount of images you can view is limited to 220 without a premium account. That being said, it is far better than Photobucket. Let me not forget to mention, it also has a less complex system to it. Oh and it's not as laggy. :3

It's just me but I had bad experiences with photobucket lol. 220 images sound relatively a lot. When I reach the limit, I will simply use another image hosting site. But for now, imgur works well and that's all I need.
