So I believe that you can come back to Gran Pulse after you have beaten the game, correct?

You can indeed, once you defeat the final boss. However, you'll need to save the game once the final CGI scene is over. It unlocks the last level [Five] of the crystarium system and you can go back and do the side-missions etc.

Yes that's so you can fight him again and beat the game.............
You don't get any CP when you face Barthendelus and Orphan.............
And PLEASE don't be like me and sell almost every componant,weapon and accessory to max out your top 3 characters.
That's what I did becasue I didn't know that there was a last CP stage lol.
