*SPOILERS* Optional Turks Fight

First of all, sorry about the messy thread title, I didn't quite know how to set this up.

Anyway, the fight I'm referring to is late game (you still have time to turn back if you haven't gotten that far).

So, you know how the fight with the Turks in the Sector 8 Underground is optional? What did you all decide to do?

I ask this, 'cause I feel like I'm the only person who didn't fight. On my old files, when I was younger - I did. But on the replay I've been doing of FF7, I've gotten as far, and I just couldn't bring myself to fight them. Haha, for the sake of the story, and respect of the characters - I left it alone. The EXP and the items weren't really a necessity for me, so it just really came down to a "moral decision". I didn't want their last scene to be running from the fight, so I just let the two parties pay their respects to one another and "go separate ways". Weird, I know, but yeah.

What did you all decide?

Well the first time I played, I just left it alone since it was an optional fight, but the 2nd time around I beat the hell out of them, lol. The Turks are cool and all, but I had to put a whoopin on them just to say I beat them I guess, lol. I always love a challenge anyway.

I fought them every time, I never felt bad about it, it was just a scrap for old times sake I saw it as, plus I can swipe some fairly decent pieces of equipment from them aswel, and the exp isn't bad ¬_¬

I go for it. I want the equipment Plus it is a simple enough fight, and it is the only chance in the game you get to fight Elena if memory serves, and the first time I played through I just wanted to see the way she fought and what was her weapon; I was hugely disappointed.

Anyway, I just did it, it is fast, easy, and you get pretty decent equipment out of it.

LOL, tbh, kicking Elena's ass was one of the few reasons why I wanted to take that fight. She rubbed me the wrong way throughout the game, and I couldn't wait to give her a lickin'.

But, for some reason, I ultimately decided not to. I mean, yeah, Rino's Tough Ring is amazing. I had a Minerva band already, and Ziedrich is pretty on par with that. But, I guess I didn't need them, so I really just didn't want to fight them, funny enough.

Reno describes it best when he says "We have a weird relationship". =] They're outside allies.

As a note though, I didn't know that this fight only became optional if you do the Wutai sidequest with them. It's awesome that the game worked that kind of continuity then.

yea, I missed the Wutai sidequest the first time through, so I had to fight them

pretty sure I skipped the battle on my other playthroughs, probably because I'm a weaksauce nice guy

i kicked their ass the first time through but i had no idea it was optional the first time i have since decided to not fight them because it is a waste of time

I've always opted to to fight them. I know they dont hold a grudge, they got along fine with Cloud and co. in AC......hehehehehehe
