Do you know the synopsis, story and/or ending of an FF game before you play it? Was it by accident? Or was it because you just can't wait? I am quite regretful that I know most of the stories of FF games before I have finished playing it.

FFI-don't know the storyline at all. However, I was using a guide. I read too far ahead and the guide was not exactly spoiler free. It divulged the ending and I stopped playing at the last dungeon.

FFII-still in the progress of playing. more or less, I am still clueless about the ending, and I hope I stay so.

FFIII-V-haven't tried, and don't know anything about the stories either.

FFVI-Found out the
fate of Terra
when I was randomly browsing FF wiki. Oh and about the
world of ruin thing
. I wished I could be more careful, especially that the story of FFVI is really decent.

FFVII-watched Advent Children before I even played the game proper. Watched the ending in youtube years ago, before I even played it too.
Aerith's
death is very easily spoiled since it's so freaking famous.

FFVIII-As I played this when I was young I pretty much wasn't spoiled at all, except little bits here and there from the vague guide I was using. But still, since I read the guide too far ahead, I know which place I am going next and what characters I am getting in my party, etc.

FFIX-Watched the ending in youtube long ago. I have forgotten most of it. But when I gave up playing as the last boss was too difficult, I went to watch it again in youtube. Weeks later, I actually managed to beat the boss and saw the ending. What a regret >_>

FFX-Watched the ending in youtube long ago too (yes I was a fool). I also read about Tidus' status in FF wiki before I played the game.

FFX-2-Watched the ending in youtube long ago again (I hate myself). I also read up the story in the wiki. I haven't even touched the game...'

FFXII-Watched the ending in youtube in the middle of my playthrough. I was really impatient.

FFXIII-Before I have gotten an xbox and before the xbox version is released in my region, I was 99% sure that I will never get the chance to play the game. So I went to watch countless playthrough+info, and eventually the ending. I really regretted these actions.

The promise to myself is not to spoil myself for any upcoming FF games, in any ways, video, text, audio, etc. My ambition is to play FFXIII-2 without even actually have a clue how the gameplay and story look like. This is going to be tough, seeing how stupidly impatient I am :(

Now, it's your time to share how you have accidentally/regretfully be informed of spoilers from FF games before you played them. I hope I am not the only one who gets spoiled for pretty much every title except one or two lol.

P.S. sorry if there is such a thread already.

The only one I knew what was going to happen was FFX-2. I just couldn't wait for my friend to finish the game, so I wanted to check out the ending. I believe there were like 3 endings, and I watched all of them. To me, the perfect ending wasn't as good as the normal ending.

I don't really like to know what's going to happen in a game, I'd rather experience what's going on in the game without knowing what's going to happen (makes no sense, but sounded right in my head). Seems like you knew just about what was going to happen in each FF, and hopefully in this one, you'll not know what to expect (avoid youtube)

LMAO...that is just too weird man...it defeats the purpose of purchasing those games. engage the adventure and experience the beautiful story on your own...

!!....I only want to be spoiled with character info and pics and news etc. but the majority of the game must not be tainted in any way or spoiled...

Have patience...xD

yeah I know :(

but I do still enjoy the story and characters of most of these games. They are just too wonderful even though I know what was going to happen.

I have to admit I never completed FF8 so I watched the ending on youtube xD
I think I also watched FF7's ending, but cant be sure.. I never completed FF7..

FF8 I could not defeat the end boss xD
FF9 I finished, FF10 and FFX-2.. I only watched the perfect ending of FFX-2 because I had 99%...

FF12 never finished..

Those games I did finish, I never watched the endings at all.. that would ruin it for me...

The endings are the most emotional parts of the game..it will leave you sad (because you cant play further) or happy (cause its a good ending that makes you satisfied)

but most importantly the endings are most of the time bittersweet and that feeling is so strange....its hard to explain really.. but that element is one of the key ingredients that makes me love FF...

When they have that awesome cinematics and beautiful music/orchestry music in the end FMV it even elevates me more..

That WAS the power of FF. :griin:

IMO ;)

I generally do know a brief story synopsis unsurprisingly as I do a bit of reading around certain games, usually from news articles. But lately, thanks to the power of the internet, I've been spoiling myself more and more, as you can see:

FFI - Completed, did not know the story really before playing it, though I suspected that there wouldn't be much in the way of story. Turns out there kind of was.
FFII - Not completed, no intentions to, pretty much spoiled myself for the rest of the game during one of my bored trips to FF Wikia and Youtube.
FFIII - Completed, did not know the story beforehand.
FFIV - Completed, did not know the story beforehand.
FFV - Near completion, still do not know what happens in the rest of the storyline.
FFVI - Completed, did not know the story beforehand.
FFVII - I was already aware of the most obvious spoilers and tidbits of information about the game before I sat down to play it.
FFVIII - Completed, did not know the story beforehand.
FFIX - Completed, did not know about the story beforehand.
FFX - As I funnily started off with FFX-2 before FFX, I pretty much knew a lot about the game already. :wacky:
FFX-2 - Completed, did not know the story beforehand (or FFX's for that matter)
FFXII - I did spoil myself with a lot of points in the story, i.e. the scenes leading up to the final boss.
FFXIII - Already knew what the ending looked like, who the final boss was, quite a few of the chapters already. Yeah, I pretty much ruined quite a bit of the experience by doing that before the game's release.

FFI - Completed, didn't know anything about the game.

FFII - Still haven't completed but I don't know how it ends so I will eventually get round to it.

FFIII - Never played this one and I know nothing about it.

FFIV - Completed and again I knew nothing of the story previously.

FFV - Haven't completed this one yet either and I hardly know anything of the game.

FFVI - Just picked this one up, the only Final Fantasy I've yet to complete so when I finish this post I'll be playing it, and I know nothing of the story.

FFVII - Didn't know anything about this one either.

FFVIII - I knew how it ended before I played it but when I actually got round to playing I had forgotten so nothing much was ruined.

FFXI - Again, knew nothing about this whilst playing.

FFX - I knew a little bit about this game but not enough for any spoilers.

FFX-2 - I knew how it ended which slightly ruined it for me.

FFXII - Knew nothing at all.

FFXIII - I knew the odd bit about the story but that was it.

I tend to go into games knowing as little as possible to avoid any spoilers as I've had a few games ruined in the past.

This one girl ruined the entire VII experience for me. She spoiled practically everything. After she told me the ending, my mood soured, and I didn't complete it.

For X-2, I spoiled it myself because this game just seemed like such a disgrace to the original, I couldn't care less if I had spoiled it. So I did XD

Accidentally ruined KH as well. I never thought I'd own a playstation 2, so I spoiled myself by watching the ending... FFFFFFUUUUUUUU-

The only one I ever had spoiled for me was X-2. I did finish the game, but I only really cared about finding out about Tidus. I felt so ripped off by the ending of X that this game was needed to clear the air.

So, that's it. No other spoilers for me.

I try and go into games knowing as little information as possible.....But sometimes it does spoil things. Like in the FFXIII trailer where they show Vanille telling Sazh to shoot her.....even though it obviously doesn't show the outcome,It still feels like a spoiler, and while I play the game that scene wouldn't be as much unexpected as I would've just anticipated it.

But I like to go into games not knowing theslightest information that way its better and things just happen that you don't expect.

My biggest one would have to be watching the
the aerith death scene
in FFVII, I'm sure 99% of players who play this game for the first time, know its gonna happen......And when I played FFVII I refrained from using Aerith/not giving a fuck about her as I knew she was gonna
die.

I'm planning to go into FFXIII-2 and Versus not knowing the slightest thing......But some of the trailers SE release can spoil bits of the game. e.g. the standoff between Stella and Noctis.......:sad3: Now when I play Versus (when it comes out) I know it will happen and it won't be unexpected.

The only major spoiler I got was the obvious one in FFVII. By the time I played the game it had been out for a few years and even I knew about that bit. But I managed to play FFVI, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX etc without getting any spoilers beforehand, which was very good.

sadly because i found it soooo hard to sit down and play it i spoiled FFX-2... also sadly the FFXIII-2 Trailer Spoiled FFXIII for me as well.... stupid trailer

finally.... i watched the ending of kingdom hearts 1 and chain of memories because i through i would never play them.. that's was the case with chain of memories but with kingdom hearts 1.... i did... fail to me :(

This probably only happened with Final Fantasy VII as it was popular and all over the internet.. or FF II which i didnt care for.. But for the other Final Fantasy games I have never ever spoiled myself and don't intend to. I have not completed X-2 or XII yet and I kinda can predict what will happen at the moment. I did not dare look at anything for FF XIII but trailers. I was really excited for the game but after playing it it just felt a little boring. Linear lines aren't exactly fun. V was honestly very boring for me and I stopped in the middle of it. Do not know what happens at the end and I do not want to know.

For me the ending of VII, X, X-2 and XIII were spoiled for me.
Its probably because I played those games after the majority of people had and I love to surf around FF forums so I probably spoiled it for myself a lot too.

The only thing I knew in the FF's Ive played is when some mong spoiled a part of
FFIV Golbez being Cecils brother

Other than that Ive managed to play all the numbered series without being spoiled. Aside from 2, Ive never got more than half hour in before having a hissy and turning it off. But Ive not had any of that spoiled for me

I dont go looking for spoilers, i dont want to ruin it for myself and the only time im ever likely to come across one by accident is if someone does it somewhere unexpected. Id rather just pick the story up as I go

THe most I ever did was FFVII before that came out, buying the mags reading the reviews and general story line etc, but even they never really gave much - if anything away really. I played a demo and saw the dance scene and thats about as much as Ive ever spoiled myself

I just dont see the point in knowing everything about a game before Ive played it. When I modded the FF section, I always asked someone else to cover the FFIV section, especially as Id only got half way through it in the past and as the DS one was coming out and knew id get back into it again, i had no desire to venture in there

FF1 I looked up the ending's story years ago, curious because back then I didn't know much about Final Fantasy after VII. I thought the game would be stick men and no music :thehell: this was years before the released it on the GBA and PlayStation.

FF2 I was into playing the game, but I felt like the game was lacking in story so I looked up FF Wiki hoping for some points on the story, but I just got a whole ton of spoilers. The ending isn't spoiled yet, so I might keep on playing one day.

FF3 Nothing much is spoiled. Though I did try and look up something and ended up finding out something small, but it's no big deal really.

FF4 Believe it or not, the WHOLE game was spoiled to me before playing. But it made me WANT to play the game, it made it sound exciting and I pictured everything happening through my head. FF4 is a example of sometimes spoilers don't spoil.
:monocle:

FF5 I'm trying not to look up the ending on youtube, I'M TRYING. But It's so tempting ! I know Gilgamesh fate, from looking up walkthroughs on youtube. I know a little bit of the ending and I'm trying to stop myself to ruin the whole thing before completing the game. :disgust:

FF6 When I was younger I really struggled at this game, and I thought that I never was going to complete it. It was my first retro FF and struggled with the downgrade in graphics, so I looked up the ending and Dancing Mad online, but when I completed the game it didn't have that feeling of everything being ruined, it was still pretty awesome.

FF7 Friends at school slipped out Aerith's death.
-__-

FF8 I brought a walkthrough from a store and read through all the spoilers like I was reading a novel. It didn't spoil the ending though, good thing too !!!

FF9 Nothing was spoiled !!!

FF10 Same story as FF8.

FF12
I got bored with the game so I looked up the ending on youtube hoping it would add fuel to drive like FF4 and others, sadly it didn't.

FF13 I looked up the ending on youtube because I didn't think I was going to get one of the future consoles, so I spoiled the ending.

The only spoilers I'd actually seen from a Final Fantasy game was from Final Fantasy XIII in which I watched the ending to the Japanese version so I kinda knew what had happened to each character, that said, it didn't make too much sense at the time. Then since I'd seen the ending I read the spoilers in the FFXIII section although they weren't particularly bad since I'd kept quite a high pace when I was playing the game anyway.

Other than FFXIII, no FF spoilers for me. :dave:

For FFVII I was told the part about a death in the middle of the game, and even though I didn't really get too upset about it, it was kinda already expected and took away from the element of surprise when it came around in the game.

As for FFX, I was at a friends' house watching him beat the game like the day before I got to the exact part in the game as well, so I saw him complete the game, face Seymour, Yu Yevon, etc...

It really didn't take away much from the game except the fact I now knew how to defeat the Final Aeon a bit better and I had already seen the ending sequence so it kinda took the excitement of finally beating the game out of me since it was my first completed FF game.

I have to admit,I hate spoilers. I want to find out myself what happens during the game and at the end. If it's spoiled for me,then I usually have no desire to really finish the game. None of the Final Fantasy titles were spoiled for me, and honestly I can't really think of a game that has been completely spoiled for me. At the most, someone might of mentioned a key element in the game, but never revealed the ending or just totally spoiled it for me.

So yeah, I stay away from spoilers. ;p And I never spoil anything about a game for anyone else, even if it's a really old game. Spoilers still apply there.

Thanks to Dissidia, I found out Golbez and Cecil were brothers. I played FFIV a few times, but I never quite managed to actually beat it. I always ended up stuck once I got to the moon, and thus not see the epic revelation.

Dissidia again spoiled the whole Chaos/Garland thing in FFI, although I'm not too bothered about that :hmmm:

Not a real spoiler, but I never beat FFXII, so all the talk about the main villain Vayne came a little out of left field for me at first :lew:

My own fault: I read a synopsis about FFIV: The After Years, and found out a really interesting tid-bit about Kain's role in the story; which I then I realized I would've loved as a surprise ;A;
