Squall Parents.. ugh.

I need to clear up some things but i think i got a idea squall dad is . .launga however you spell it and squall mum is ranie right? and also where in point of the game proves that? that just from the top of my memory so yeh thanks.
 
Yes, you're right. Squall's father is Laguna and his mother is Raine.

It's never said out right that either are his parents, but it's more about the little things said that amount to that fact.

I'm kind of vague on the details, but here goes:

Squall is 17, and 17 years ago Raine and Laguna were together, and implied that they got married and Ellone says that she wanted to change the past so that Laguna would be there to see his and Raine's child and would thus prevent Raine from dying in the first place.

I think most of the info you get is in this small window of time, in disc 3 when you're on the Ragnarok just before you bust into Lunatic Pandora. you can go up speak with Laguna and co.

Laguna says he wants to speak with Squall after the crisis is over, to catch up I think, and Kiros says or Ward implies that Squall looks like his mother.

In Disc 2, when the gang go save Squall after he's tortured by Seifer, there are a bunch of Moombas around him calling him "Laguna", and it's said that Moomba's can recognize familial ties through scent of blood. So they smell Squall's blood and recognize Laguna's scent as well

One random thing as well is that Laguna has the Squall Triple Triad Card, so he's got a pic of his boy with him xD

I don't know if this counts, but Squall can see the ghost of Raine in Winhill during that vase sidequest thingy as well.

There's probably more stuff, but that's all I can think of >__<
 
Also the fact that whenever Squall and co. go back into the past, Laguna always manages to get Squall's level ups and junctionings.
 
ooo yeh other thing is i think some char said this i gave birth to baby boy before i passed away or something like that, i cant remember who said that >.<
 
There's no point in the game when it actually says that Squall is the son of Laguna and Raine. It's fairly heavily hinted at, Squall, Raine, Laguna, all themed around water, Fusionist lists most of them.
There are to more, but perhaps fusionist listed these too, I cba checking.
Firstly Kiros says " at least you look like your mother" or something to that effect.
Also Laguna saying to Squall " I've got to tell you something, no wait I'll tell you later".
I think in the Ultamania guide it says that Laguna does tell Squall after the end of the game that Squall is his son.
 
It oesn't tell you anywhere, but there are so many hints it makes it obvious, there was already a thread on this.... >_>

On board the ragnarok, Kiros/ward says its a good thing you look like your mother.

Laguna has his card - not a great argument but whatever

He also tells him they have stuff to talk about once its all over

Raine died during childbirh or something, either way she was up the duff with a little boy

Uh...what else...? cant remember, anyway, all the little hints just point toward squall being theirs, that what kiros says being the most obvious

I think it got archived or something, coz it ain't in the VIII section anymore,I was just pulling my face because I had to repeat myself from the other thread

Ooh also -vain attempt to keep on topic-

Its mentioned somewhere that Squall hogged ellone for himself, he was closer to her, probably because they were more like brother and sister than the rest of the kids at the orphanage, that and she always used to send him back in Lagunas body and also the Moombas recognised him and called him Laguna
 
I really wish the game would of expanded on the story here. All the facts point directly at them being Squall's parents, just nothing official, but do not know how anyone could conclude any different.

No, we know about Riona's parents, they are General Caraway and Julia...what is interesting is given it is pretty evident that Laguna is Squall's dad that Squall and Riona finished what Laguan and Julia started/tried to start. I always liked that little connection
 
Truthfully, I didn't realize Laguna and Raine were Squall's parents for a while. Like I said, a lot of info you can find out is dependent you actually initiating convos and such O.O
 
I must have completely missed that whole thing when I played the game. Either that or I noticed them when I played but they were such little hints I just completely forgot. That makes a lot of sense though and ties it together much better.
 
I knew the first time I played, because at the time it was basically the only game I owned (that and Tomb Raider III). So I played it every day to the fullest.
I did however failed to realize the whole Moomba thing. Didn't know they could tell who someone was through blood. My brother pointed it out later.
I actually figured it was a common fact, and found it strange people had missed it. But I realize now that you can't expect people to remember everything from a game if even you have to have your little brother point things out to you.
But still after over 10 years, I though it had become a common fact. Guess not. Square is way to vague.
