These games are just fantastic! I love the Star Wars series, but Im not a fan of the full on action games. So when my ex intoduced me to the first game about 4 years ago, I was in love with the idea!

A Star Wars RPG, about time! I love the choice of going between Dark and Light sides of the Force and having the good old RPG style thrown in.

Ive recently played the second game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and Im in love all over again!

They are just brilaint as you can be either male or female, light or dark and get different events happening depanding on your actions. I love games like this as nothing will be the same twice.

Who has experinced these lovelys?

I was fortunate enough to have played the second game first since everyone dumps the hate on that one since it wasn't made by Bioware, I think personally the first really grated at the start for me and really isn't that much better. The only things it has over it is less bugs and an actual ending, however Carth himself being the annoying prick he is almost tips it back the other way.

But in general the games are of a good quality although not the complete classics that they are sometimes touted as, the battle system is much better than most JRPG ones and having it based in the Star Wars Universe as well as HK-47 just makes it more appealing for me.

The Light/Dark thing is like most other attempts though, you're either good or bad. There's never been a game that did that right for me with having that middle ground and this is another that failed on that count. Still, Force Lightning rocks.

I have been playing both recently. I love KotOR, it was very well-made, though there are minor annoyances... KotOR 2... I didn't like it as much...

It's not JUST that a group other than Bioware made it... It's that they had like a year or two to improve on the first game/make new characters/better story. And they failed in my opinion... All they really did was make a stand-alone expansion pack for the first game where a few annoyances were fixed and many characters seemed to just be redesigned characters from the first game. I enjoy playing KotOR 2, still... It's just, I don't see it as too much of an improvement.

They had something like 14 months to create a fresh new game while Lucasarts were at every turn forcing them to cut corners to put the game out early, now Obsidian aren't that good at sequels to other developers games but they were kind of against the wall there and despite everything it was still an enjoyable game. And both games had strengths and weaknesses when looking at the characters and KOTRII had the slight edge imo.

I did have an issue when it was announced that Obsidian would take control over the sequel, but I was pleased when it turned out good. Not perfect of course, and not as brilliantly pulled of as KoTR 1, but a highly enjoyable game nonetheless.

however Carth himself being the annoying prick he is almost tips it back the other way.

I am so glad someone else feels this way. I really hated Carth. >_<

I love KotOR though. It's one of my favorite games actually. I really liked how many choices the game gives you and I enjoyed the gameplay, particularly the ability to choose between Light and Dark. I have to say though, I didn't care for the characters much, especially Carth, Bastila, Mission, Zalbaar and Juhani. Bleh. The rest were decent though and I loved HK-47. xD

I've only played about half of the second one and I like it, only not as much as the first one.

On a different note, this game made me hate wookies quite a bit.

Carth was an A**... I was tired of the game making me talk to him just to have him be emo... All whiny about what happened to him one second and acting like he doesn't care about anything the next.

Wow, Carth... You have officially won the 'Biggest P***ant of all Time' award from me... Wait... Nevermind... Second biggest... Tidus has the first one. :P

i agree that the first one was a better game, it also had a better story, but i prefer the characters from the second. Been a while so im not sure bout the names... the old woman, visas, the cut up guy (zion?) and the wierd he/she sith thing were all good.

Star Wars KOTOR II : The Sith Lords

I'm absolutely pleading my big brother to either download or buy this game to my computer.
I've played the game once in my life, probably two years ago. It was one of my favorite computer games that I've played since nothing.
It is quite clear that this game is a role-playing game, as you can choose character faces, your choices, and your side. You can actually
fall in love with either Atton or some other girl (I forgot her name) and end up in a romance with them.
So, have you ever heard or played this game before? Did you like it or not?
Discuss on the gaming and it's quantities within, and your feelings towards it.

I've played and beaten both KOTOR and KOTOR 2. They're both on my list of favorite RPGs. I got both games for the XBox instead of the PC, though. It's funny when one of the best parts of the game is just talking to other characters.

Lol, i actually made a thread a few threads down on this lol. But yeah very good games, although I prefer the first game to the second installment.

Ah, thank you, Sapphire. =]

-Threads Merged-

I will simply add to this thread instead of creating a new one. How many people here have heard of Star Wars: The Old Republic? The MMORPG version of the first two games? I have to say this: I hate MMORPGs but I'm so excited about this game its not even funny. I'm an average Star Wars fan but the game by Bioware were AMAZING. I can't imagine this online experience being any less than pure perfection. I have no idea how much cash I'll have to devote to get a gaming rig that can handle it well or what all is required... but I am absolutely positive I'm getting this game.

I absolutely love these games, and I cant wait for the new MMORPG to come out. The more I see about it the more I like it.

What I really liked the most about KOTOR I & II was the way you could choose your path, at the current time the only games that were out beside GTA you couldn't do that in a game before let alone with a star wars game.

I loved the first KOTOR. It's in my top 3 RPG's alongside Final Fantasy VIII and IX. The second game was a bit of a dead fish in the water compared to the first one, but I guess that's what Obsidian are good at: Making mediocre sequels to succesful BioWare games (they did the same with Neverwinter Nights)

I enjoyed both games though I might be in the minority when I say I prefer the second one to the first. I'm also glad I got these for the pc since there are alot of great mods for the game out there. As for the mmo I'm looking forward to it. It's suposed to have and actual story element to it. So choices your char makes will have an impact on them. Finaly an mmo where you might actualy get to RP. Sure current mmos have RP servers but NO ONE ever rps in them.

I played the first one, but have yet to play the second. The first KOTOR was incredible, even if some of the characters were useless (like T3M4). I don't like MMOs much but am looking forward to the Old Republic one.
