Help Stat Maxing.... do u have what it takes

Perfect STATS!!!

I got the regular grid all learned. I just haven't got the motivation to fill in all the blanks with stuff. I'm sure sooner or later I will. Does anyone know what stats are best? I guess I'll just get as many strength nodes as it takes to get my weakest character to 255. Then work on HP which is really what I want to do. I heard that defeating the Dark Aeons requires some training in this department.

Luck 255 = 255 Agility and 255 Evasion
so its best to do Luck but have 30+ Agility and Evasion just for Dark Aeons i think. need to get my guide book out for that.

try maxing AGILITY and STRENGTH first then ACCURACY IMO is the best way to max the grid. most of the monsters in the monster arena have high EVA and high Agility so its best to have speed and power then acc for those dodging monsters.

HP really doesnt matter since u have 9999+ HP after u go around the whole grid.
Getting Celestial weapons make stat maxing easier.
GODHAND is the easiest to get so get it if u dont.

Masume should come later if u do monster arena a lot.

Dark Aeons, are tuff. To even touch one u need Luck Levels of over 80 i think. they have high stats and do lots of damage. having HP break is neccessary for Dark Aeons.

its possible to have 255 stats for everything but ur HP will be about 30K.
if u take out the 255 AGL and EVA u should have about 99999HP.

heres a stat maxing guide btw - http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/197344/46942

I have tried to do so, and actually got pretty far. The thing that stopped it was I ran out of patience. My guys were extremely good and all the fights were pretty easy at that point, so I just stopped trying.

well the definate best place for stat maxing has to be omega ruins, make sure tidus is equiped with the Ascalon (double AP) and just circle around next to the save sphere, dont forget to trigger the mimics too as they are worth a fair bit of gold which comes in handy when it comes to bribing for getting stuff for customisation and stat boosting your aeons and the such.

It also helps to try get hold of a friend sphere (drop off the crab rock creatures but they are a rare encounter) and move Auron into Tidus'es grid once you have completed Aurons grid as it will give him the much needed quick hit and a good boost to is flagging agility which should see you getting Aurons turns as often as Rikku even if she has mastered her grid.

Dont forget Holy and a 1mp cost staff for Yuna as well, a lot of mobs are subsceptable to holy there and you can pretty much farm it indefinatley with Yuna and Auron.

Haha hecccccccccck nooo. I'm waaaay too impatient to sit there for hours leveling them up and filling the grid. Lmao too much work. It is possible yes and i'm sure the characters will be megaultakickasspowerhouses it's not my thing to try and I dont think i'll ever try period.

After getting everyone their special weapons and maxing out their power, i actually did fill in everyones sphere grid, and even had tidus fill in the entire board.

I filled in the grid with Tidus and Wakka once. It made it really difficult to train the others up though because I left them too long. Wakka and Tidus could handle pretty much anything at this point though.

If your going to attempt to do this I recommend 2 things -
1) start in the omega ruins, it's a beast of a place to train
2)Try catching all the fiends - Hours of monotonous training can be annoying without distraction

thoughtidpostedin here, apparentlynot. ilove thesphere grid, so itdidntreally feel like to much of a chore fillingall the blanksin. its easier to gt rond once youve gone round once anyway and all you need to do then is get the requiredspheres from stuff in themonster arena... gwtting the ones off that flan were apain in the arse though... i still havent completely filed it, but im certainly not far off... problemis, when youre runing round fillingnodes and deleting shit, certain characters get neglected and end up weaker than ou started them off as..but i suppose ifyou dnt boter trabing said characters thats bound to hapen, that was lulu and khimari for me, more lulu

I think I'm all the way around with Wakka and Tidus and very close with Yuna. I'm missing like a few Lvl 4 key Spheres, but everything is unlocked one way or another by a character. I have hardly used Rikku that much along with Lulu, but they both hit 99,999 so their strong, but not that far or close to completing the Sphere Grid.

After I finished the game myself, I decided to check out the Action Replay cheats and found unlimited spheres. The ones that let you move anywhere. It took me about half an hour to fill up Tidus's sphere grid alone...

Yeah i have the whole grid filled for my 3 major chars, i lack the patience to fill it with the other ones though.
Only had to fill a decent part of it when using Wakka, his limit(Attack Reels) is quite useful so, it's best to keep him high on stats.

IMO filling the sphere grid is fun until a certain point, after that it becomes rather tedious and i only did it because i wanted to max my 3 chars.

I think that by the time your trying to fill all of them in, there isn't much you can do in the game with the stats. The reason I say this is that, by the time you hit 99999 on all your characters, you have already killed all the monster arena bosses, beat the game, done everything, gotten all the secret spheres out there, so that when your sphere grid is full, the only thing there is to do is really just the Movie Sphere and the Music Sphere listening/watching or whatever.....So there is really no point in getting them all.

Just a general reminder to keep your posts detailed. No one-liners, please.

I disagree with you chocobotamer. I had a ton of fun filling up the sphere grid. And most people don't complete the task until they've done every side mission. I didn't fill the sphere grid until my second playthrough. But while I was working on it, I was doing all the side quests. By filling it up, you've maxed out all your characters stats. And when you have a damage limit break on your weapons it truely makes beating the game an easy task as it should be.

Another benefit of having a maxed sphere grid is that you didn't have to switch in for example Lulu because she knew more black magic and her magic stat was slightly higher.

Sure filling the entire sphere grid with every character is tedious, but in the long run it makes the very end of the game even more easy than it was to begin with.

The whole grid thing confuses me lol I don't really understand it! I mean I kinda am starting to, but need a bit more explaining as to what you actually have to do with it, how does it work etc. didn't realise there was a thread for this already, mentioned about it in the "Which Final Fantasy Are You Currently Playing" thread, or somewhere along those lines.

^^ Well Rikku explains about it in the beginning of the game if I recall correctly. Though, I never had trouble with it how does it confuse you??
It's like a leveling up system. Instead of earning EXP you get sphere levels (the more spheres the more you can unlock and learn though, you need certain spheres to gain/learn something. Like you need a ability sphere to learn 'blind' (example) Some will be locked, and you'll need certain spheres to open it as well.

EDIT: I wouldn't listen to me... I just read over it and got confused XD

Anyways, I have never, nor do I plan on doing so have maxed out my characters stats XD im waaaay to impatient to sit there hours straight o_O I mean, it's no fun being the best XD I like working my way up and then my peeps will get stronger though they have never gotten everything on the sphere grid. I saw a video where it too him 141 hours!!! :gasp: Like who has the patience?? XD I don't.

Sphere Grid was one of the best improvements in FF series. I really like Sphere Grid. I had a lot of fun to unlocking all the spheres and completing the Sphere Grid.

Actually I think you explained it pretty good, thanks :] I'm not so confused now and I think I understand the whole concept of it better. Just at first, when you first get introduced to it in the game, I got totally thrown off! lol seemed weird! But yeah, I'm just gonna keep going one step at a time and fill as many spheres as I can and basically I'm always checking my characters stats and then basing my next move on the grind on how the stats are. So for example if one of them seems to be low in the magic department or strength, whatever, I'll try and upgrade them in that area on the grid, if it'll let me go as many spaces as I need in order to get to that part of the grid etc.
But yeah I think I get it now, thanks!

The sphere grid was, and still is, by a long way my favourite character upgrade system from any final fantasy. I mean.. i really cant see any future games improving on it, it was just THAT good. And as for the monster arena, it's gotta be one of my favourite side-quest/mini games of the entire series (along with blitzball). And just to top it all off, i consider the battle system in FFX to be the best in the series as well. Basically what im trying to say is.. i LOVED each and every second of time i put into playing this game, so i've never been bored at all while stat-maxing. I think i still have Lulu and Yuna left to max out, and reading these threads makes me wanna go back and play it some more lol.. so maybe i will :)
