[SU/D] Balamb Garden

Work work work.... already finished two bios need to finish this one. A few more things though. Do want me to post a complete list of the GF's abilities since I'e got them drawn up already (they conform to FFVIII standards)? Also, when we detail magic we have 32 slots max with 100 max of each spell, right? And do you want me to detail the Elem and Stk junctions as well?

I'm asking because my char is a full fledged SeeD and has been for several years as time is in this RP.

Well, it wasn't a requirement I was looking for from everyone (the GF ability list), but if you have it, feel free to post it.

The detail of magic will be the same as the game, as you've said - 32 slots max, 100 of each spell.

The details around junctions are interesting :hmmm: I think it would be interesting to see what everyone else thinks. I'm fine either way with or without them.
What does everyone else think?

Oh, 1 more thing. It's likely that I'll look to get this started early in the week/Sunday this week.

Your Sign Up thread keeps tempting me like a kid to an ice cream truck...I cannot resist any longer!!! :gasp:

Expect a bio between now and over the weekend...

I'd have to say i'm against having 'stats' in the RP, i'm yet to be in a RP where it's been handled well and it can be managed just as easily without their presence or indeed, the majority of the gameplay mechanics beyond being a mock supersoldier from Guardian Force Junctioning.

:griin: I'm glad we could lure you here!

Looking forward to seeing the bio.

I'd have to say i'm against having 'stats' in the RP, i'm yet to be in a RP where it's been handled well and it can be managed just as easily without their presence or indeed, the majority of the gameplay mechanics beyond being a mock supersoldier from Guardian Force Junctioning.

Probably best to nip this in the bud now I guess. I agree that having stats in an RP is tricky, but I thought it would be worth getting other people's opinions. I think I misunderstood the post anyway, my bad >.<

Perhaps it's best to leave them out, apart from the elemental and status junctions. They could still be used without the danger of a "Supersoldier" like Rorolina said.

I was going to NEED to have elemental/status junctioning to make Xu's weapon work, but that's the only thing required I suppose.

Though I did just spend a good 20 minutes figuring out a GF based on junctions... ah well. xD Bios should go up tonight shortly after I get home, depending on whether or not I go out with a friend. Either way, nearly done with both of them.

And to keep the questions coming, since Rinoa's a canon character and all, would she have one GF? If you split the 18 from the game between the 6 playables, you get 3 each. I don't want 3, because that's a lot to keep track of, but what's realistic from the game? :c

Same for mine so I'm for Elemental/Status Junctions.

As for Spells when we draw we should post in our profile what spell we drew :D and the spell should be centered around the monster/location where hes at. :0

Glad more people are joining now I'm really psyched to start :D

I don't see the problem with giving her a couple if needed. Like you said, 3 GF's would be really tough to manage, but 2 would be fine. I was thinking of limiting it to 1 GF per canon, but to be honest I don't see many more canon characters being taken.

Hope that answer's your question ^_^

I like that idea. It would make it much easier to keep track of who had what, magic-wise.

While we're at it, I'd like to hear any other idea's you guys have. Better to have them now, before we start the RP.

EDIT: Also, Subtle-Sounds the bio's great. Sorry, forgot to mention that earlier :gasp:

thanks farro now if only i could come up with a good enough history. Is it possible for my character to get her gf without fighting it? similar to the system in ff13? where they join you if certain things happen?

Name: Rinoa Heartilly

Age:
20

Gender:
Female

Appearance:
Rinoa hasn't changed much in three years, appearance-wise, other than her hair. Chopped much shorter, her hair only hangs to the top of her shoulders, though the caramel-colored streaks framing her face are still there. Her eyes are still the same warm brown, although they don't show quite the same easy trust they once did, resulting from the burden of having a sorceress's power placed on her. She has grown several inches in height, putting her at about 5'6".

As for clothing, Rinoa wears similar clothing to what she wore 3 years ago. Her light blue duster has been replaced by a slightly darker blue jacket, though the wing designs on the back are the same. Rather than the long blue buttoned shirt under her black tank top that she wore before, she's switched it with a simple longer black tank top, and her shorts have been replaced with light blue denim ones. Her necklace remains unchanged, as well as her shoes. Her arm warmers are slightly modified to match her new jacket, and the tie around her arm remains as it was.

Weapons:
Blasting Edge type; specifically: Shooting Star

Rinoa's current weapon is the last she crafted while fighting against Ultimecia, though with a few upgrades. Called the Shooting Star, the sharp, bladed edges are stylized angel wings, and the circular ring fits onto a new wrist mount. Rinoa worked together with Nida to change the design, making her weapon fire more fluidly, and return to her in a safer way as well. The new wrist mount appears nearly identical to the old, however, except in color.

Magic:
Innately, without the use of junctioning, Rinoa possesses the basic level spells of: Fira, Thundara, Blizzara

Drawn magic: Cura, Water, Regen, and Haste.

GF(s):
After Ultimecia's defeat at the hands of Rinoa and her friends, their need for the large amount of Guardian Forces they had amassed was much lower. Despite the plans to split all of the GFs equally, some of them decided to only take two for semi-permanent use. The others were donated to the Garden to be used for SeeD exams and the like. Rinoa's chosen GFs were Shiva and Leviathan, though she rarely uses them in battle due to her own magical powers.

Items:
Phoenix Down x 3, Potion x 5, Antidote/Echo Screen/Eye Drops x 2

Abilities:
Draw, Magic, GF, Item

Limit Break: Angel Wing: Rinoa loses control of her magical abilities, rapidly casting spells in her possession at the enemy.

History: Since the defeat of Ultimecia, Rinoa has devoted herself to becoming stronger and controlling her powers. She chose to stay at Balamb Garden with Squall and her other friends, and asked Edea Kramer to teach her all there was to know about being a sorceress. Rather than hiding away her powers and being afraid, she decided to embrace them and control them through use. Edea worked with Rinoa on a weekly basis, strengthening Rinoa's powers to the point where she could cast a simple Cure spell without having any drawn or junctioned. Continued practice showed the ability to cast Fire, Thunder, and Blizzard as well, with slightly varying degrees of success. As she continued on, the spells of Fira, Thundara, and Blizzara came into her grasp as well.

Though Edea worked on her magic, Rinoa felt that her physical combat could use some help as well. She enrolled in classes at Balamb Garden, starting as low as any other student would. She rose through the ranks much faster than the younger students did, of course, having had real battle training. After around two and a half years of training, she passed all of the required exams, becoming a SeeD eligible for hire.

Now, as life settles down for Rinoa at the Garden, she takes on small mercenary jobs when she gets them, not too interested in the life of a paid fighter. Her lessons with Edea continue, and she helps out in classes with younger students when needed. Her routine is steady and fairly simple, and Rinoa enjoys it.

----------------------

Rinoa bio done. I'm going to be posting Rinoa's parts in light blue and Xu's in some... other color, assuming no one else takes either of them from me. I'll get Xu's up soon I hope.

And I deliberately left Squall out of Rinoa's bio, since we don't have a Squall as of now and I'd rather not step on toes if whoever picks him up had other plans. I did, however, use Edea, since I figured she wouldn't be a popular character taken by anyone.

Oh and reign me in on the innate magic if you'd like. I can just as easily have it junctionable to her, I just thought it'd be interesting for a sorceress to have more power and all. I won't make her godlike by any means, of course.

Name:
Bianca Mastai

Age:
17

Gender:
Female

Appearance:
ca4b978d934225373b54d537dabd6cca.jpg

Personality:
Bianca has a strong attitude and is one who is always ready to work. She has a friendly and caring personality, leading herself to make friends with almost anyone and everyone she meets with. She is energetic, akin to a puppy dog.

Weapon:
Bianca's main weapon is a specialized Gunblade known as "Risorgimento." Risorgimento is a Rifle/Katana Hybrid, unlike the standard Gunblade weapon. It is used primarily as a mixed range weapon. Unlike the Gunblade, the blade and the gun modes act as one which means that Bianca can change styles at hand to hand combat at will.

Bianca's secondary weapons are a pair of Gundaggers known as "Custoza and Novara". The blades are roughly 8 inches long while the handle is shaped like a wooden revolver grip. On Custoza the grip has a emblem of a shield with a series of emblems emblazoned on it. (The Emblem of the OTL Italian Navy) while Novara has the emblem with a coat of arms of Dollet.

Magic:
Blizzard, Water, Sleep

GF:
Aspidohelone: (Special Attack: Deluge) Deals Water elemental damage to all targets.

Items:
Potion: x3
Antidote: x3
Eye Drops: x3

Abilities:
GF, Item, Magic, Draw, Recover, Shoot

Limit Break:
Fukkatsuken: A combination of rapid strikes with her Gun-Katana and/or her Gundaggers.

History:
Bianca was born in the town of Balamb some many years ago. As a youth she was very energetic and vigorous, and her desire for adventure often got her into trouble. Eventually when she became of age, her parents would send her to Balamb Garden in order to discipline her better.

It was there that Bianca would meet Sera during some of the more physical education classes. The two of them would grow to become fast friends, despite Sera's sarcastic streak towards her especially. The two of them would usually hang out together, having shared the same classes sometimes. Bianca would grow alongside Sera to become one of the many potential candidates for SeeD, having just managed to pass the SeeD Written Examinations. Bianca is eagerly looking forward to her Field Exam, where she looks to prove herself to her superiors.

That's an awesome bio Caitlyn. I don't think anyone will be taking Xu, so feel free to claim her. That would have you down for Rinoa and Xu - if that's still OK with you?

The mention of Squall reminds me, I may take two canon's, like Caitlyn, and have no OC. We don't have many canon's taken yet, and I'd like a few involved in the story. I'm thinking Zell and Squall.

Would anybody have any problems with me taking them both?

I've already got Xu half written up, so yay. xD

And I'd love to have a Squall honestly, let me know if my history section will need editing when you've written up Squall. It just.. seems like no one wants to play canons, so between both of us taking two, at least we'll have SOME.

It's a pity I'm not quite good enough to handle three :wacky:

Considering the story would be taking part on 3 or so years after main events, it would difficult not to have a Squall. It would be even more difficult to think of a plausible reason why he wouldn't be in it :gasp:

There's a lot of pressure on us to represent the canon's :wtf: - I'm looking forward to it though!

Well if you need a Squall I can play him since I played him in the past. I'll make a profile for him later today or tomorrow.
@Farro

Edit: I see you put squall by your name so I assume you want to do him so its up to you really Farro, I just offered since Squall would be needed at somepoint

Likewise, I could pick up as Siefer if you want him to be in this RP.

Name: Seifer Almasy

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Appearance:
733px-Wal_VIII_07_clean.jpg

Weapons: Hyperion
50200.jpg

Magic: Haste, Flare, Regen, Drain

GF(s): Doomtrain

Items: Phoenix Down (x5), Potion (x5), Remedy (x5)

Abilities : Draw, Magic, GF, Darkside | Limit Breaks - No Mercy, Demon Slice & Bloodfest

History: Seifer was born 18 years prior to the events of Final Fantasy VIII. He was orphaned after his parents were killed in the Sorceress War and sent to Edea's Orphanage. From a young age he bullied the other children in the orphanage, especially Zell. As he grew up, he became a student at Balamb Garden, where he studied to become a SeeD. Seifer would later forget his past in the orphanage due to the memory loss that using Guardian Forces causes. Final Fantasy VIII Ultimania reveals that when Seifer was a child, a popular movie was released about a sorceress who stood to defend her country, and her knight who protected her. The film was Seifer's favorite, and inspired his dream to become a Sorceress Knight himself. He even copied the battle pose of the actor who played the Knight in the film.

At Balamb Garden, Seifer found friendship in Fujin and Raijin, and their posse was rarely seen apart. The friends later became the Balamb Garden Disciplinary Committee, abusing their power to give fellow students punishment and detention. Even though he forgot his past, Seifer became a rival to another student at Balamb Garden, Squall Leonhart, who had coincidentally grown up in Edea's Orphanage. Of all the students at the Garden, only Seifer and Squall chose a gunblade as their specialized weapon, and they would often duel to hone their skills.

Even though Seifer had great potential to become a SeeD, his behavior made him fail the exams needed to become one, and he was labeled a 'problem child.' Seifer also developed a "romantic dream' about becoming a Sorceress Knight and has borrowed several books from the Balamb Garden related to the subject. About a year before the events of Final Fantasy VIII, Seifer started a romantic relationship with Rinoa Heartilly, a girl working in a resistance group to free the occupied nation of Timber.
At the beginning of Final Fantasy VIII, Seifer and Squall are shown having a fierce duel in a rocky field near Balamb Garden. Neither one seems to be giving an inch, but Seifer casts a Fire spell during the duel, sending Squall to the ground. Seifer strikes at Squall's face, giving him a bloody scar, but as Seifer lets his guard down Squall strikes back, leaving a mirrored scar on Seifer's face.

For the SeeD field examination, Squall and Zell Dincht with Seifer as their leader, are put into one group to form a squadron of SeeD for a military operation against the Galbadian Army. Selphie Tilmitt later joins the group, but because of Seifer's disobedience during the engagement, he fails his SeeD exam once more. He grudgingly applauds Squall, Zell and Selphie, all of whom pass.

While Seifer is sent to be disciplined for his actions during the exam, Squall, Zell and Selphie are assigned a new mission, their first as SeeD mercenaries: to aid a resistance faction known as the Forest Owls in their mission to free the occupied nation of Timber. In this resistance faction, Rinoa, Seifer's former love interest, is a member.
Having heard of this, Seifer breaks out of the discipline room, injuring many people in the process, and embarks to assist them by holding the President of Galbadia hostage during a broadcast from the Timber TV Station. Backed into a corner and watched on by Squall, Zell, Selphie and Quistis Trepe; who had been sent to retrieve him, Seifer attempts to retreat and is saved by Ultimecia who appears in the body of Edea Kramer. Appealing to Seifer's darker side, Ultimecia successfully convinces him to follow her. Seifer is officially announced executed by the Galbadian government and a saddened Rinoa reveals her past with Seifer to Squall.

Seifer is believed dead until he shows up in Deling City, standing at the side of Ultimecia having become the sorceress's protective Knight. Squall, with their new ally, Irvine Kinneas, had been assigned to assassinate the sorceress by shooting her, but Irvine, remembering his past at the orphanage (he had not forgotten his memories due to the fact he had never used Guardian Forces, though at the time he was unaware of Ultimecia's possession of Edea), refuses to shoot Edea and disguises it as merely nerves.

Squall convinces Irvine to shoot, but Ultimecia blocks the shot with a spell. Squall is forced to break into the sorceress's parade and fight her one-on-one; Seifer stops him and, claiming his new status as hero and Knight of the sorceress, fights Squall. After Seifer's defeat, Squall fights Ultimecia, but is defeated when Ultimecia casts Edea's Limit Break, Ice Strike, which pierces Squall's shoulder.

When Squall comes to in Galbadia's D-District Prison he is quickly transported to the torture room by none other than Seifer who tortures Squall for the truth about SeeD. Squall, who does not understand the question, only further enrages Seifer who turns the electrical torture instrument to full, which leaves Squall unconscious and incapacitated. While Squall later escapes with his friends, Seifer, now head of the Galbadian Army, invades and takes over control of Galbadia Garden under Ultimecia's orders. Enabling the Garden to be airborne he embarks on the search for a girl named Ellone whom his sorceress wishes to find. Eventually, whether the encounter was accidental during the search or intentional is unknown, he manages to intercept a similarly airborne Balamb Garden over the Centra continent near the ruins of Edea's Orphanage.

With Seifer as commanding officer the Galbadia Garden launches a full assault on Balamb Garden. The Balamb students and SeeDs turn the battle and make their way inside Galbadia Garden, where Squall and his party encounter Seifer. He is defeated once again, and is left unconscious and disgraced on the floor. Despite Seifer's determined efforts Squall's party defeats Ultimecia within Edea's body, which results in Ultimecia leaving Edea's body to possess Rinoa's body and ordering Seifer to raise the Lunatic Pandora from the sea.

Under the orders of Ultimecia, Seifer embarks on a new quest to resurrect the Esthar weapon Lunatic Pandora from the depths of the ocean. Restoring the device to active status he directs the pillar to be placed upon Tears' Point, starting the Lunar Cry and bringing into motion Ultimecia's plan for time compression. Squall and his party move to prevent this, invading the construct with an Estharian airship and battling their way deeper into the Lunatic Pandora. The many toils had begun to take their toll on Seifer, as his hair is unkempt and his coat is blackened and falling apart. Fujin and Raijin, who up until now had followed Seifer loyally, beg him to stop following this path and go back to being their friend.

Seifer claims it is too late to go back, and wishes them a good life, before he fights Squall one last time. During this fight, if the player has obtained Odin, Seifer manages to bisect him when he is summoned in battle, and Gilgamesh takes his place, and knocks Seifer down. Despite his defeat, Seifer manages to capture Rinoa and offer her to Ultimecia in the body of her new host, Sorceress Adel, whom she had just resurrected.

After Ultimecia is bested inside Adel's body by Squall's group, she casts time compression, allowing Squall to reach her era. After Squall and his party reach the future era and defeat Ultimecia, Seifer is seen in the end as an entirely different person, fishing together with Fujin and Raijin, and smiles toward Balamb Garden as it flies by through the sky. He has since returned to Balamb as a new man and has once again taken up the role of disciplinarian along with Fujin and Rajin.

Edit: I see you put squall by your name so I assume you want to do him so its up to you really Farro, I just offered since Squall would be needed at somepoint

If the offer's still there I'd be more than happy to see you play Squall. The main reason I took him was just to ensure he was in the RP - as he is a fairly main canon character.

Would you be happy to play him?

Likewise, I could pick up as Siefer if you want him to be in this RP.

That would be great, I'll add that to the OP ^_^

if needs be i can bring in a selphie??

Brilliant - good to see a few more canon's being taken up!

If you're happy to play Selphie, that's fantastic - would you mind doing a bio for her?

I'd say we now have more than enough people for the RP to start. Importantly, we have some canon characters as well. All being well, I'll start the main RP tonight. Keep an eye out.
