Aha! Genius inventor here to save the day! To answer your question. Coal powers steam engines. In the context of this RP, coal is still used despite an alternative having been found because it's safer.
The alternative is Luborium, which is radioactive, and so, a little too dangerous for just an ordinary steam engine.

Yeah, for steam, coal is generally used, simply cause internal combustion is not really going to be a thing here...(otherwise we'd use oil)

Perhaps an attack after the group part ways may be more realistic in a way. Considering they're still in the VIP lounge not far from a rather sizeable crowd, it would be a rather high-profile assassination attempt. Not a particularly wise choice, assuming they are not planning to be too open about their antagonism.
I think an attack or an assassination attempt is in the cards yes. You will all see in my next post.
