Hey all. feel free to move this IF its in the wrong place

anyways...Who here likes to sword fight? Better yet...Sword Fighting Dual Style!:wacky:

In my oppinion, anyone who's played final fantasy and has a sword is dangerous. xD

So...discuss.

I used to sword fight with my brother...only we didn't use swords. We used hockey sticks. xD It was long enough, I suppose. We even created some sort of staged sword-fight, where we'd make up moves and memorize them, then have our other cousins watch us (kinda like a performance) so it would look real to them.

I've bought a sword for my husband last year though. A samurai sword, in fact. It's hiding inside our closet. And I'm not afraid to use it. xD

Hmm, why would you say that anyone who's played Final Fantasy and has a sword is dangerous...?

A few of the less physically impaired of us in school tried sword fighting with wooden sticks, which was fun until we broke 'em all. We got a bit too enthusiastic methinks. :wacky: It passed the time I guess.

I've tried my hand at fencing a while back, and thoroughly enjoyed it... I just wish I didn't give up because of exams. In all honesty, it was great holding a sword and executing attacks. I'd pick it up again in an instant if I had the time.

I tried fencing once about 6-7 years ago on a school trip to Cornwall, our class had a little tournament and I made it into the final but I was beaten by my cousin.

At the moment I own 6 swords but I wouldn't fuck around with them, the last time I tried I cut my friend's hand. :monster:

I've always considered taking up fencing, but when I looked about there wasn't anything happening where I live. I'm hoping that there'll be such a thing when I start university.

I think they do fencing in my college as an enrichment course, along with other neat shit like archery. :wacky:

i realize this thread is old but i thought i'd weigh in. ive fenced for years and have been instructed by an Olympic gold medalist. when i was 17 i was in a national qualifier and took fourth (i was 1 place away from making it into the junior olympics)

Shit...i forgot i made this...soz:P

yeah me and my friend do sparring however first time i showed him the katana sword i own and when we went outside he was said

"Hold the hell on till i get way back, you'll end up stabbing me or something"

And he dashed off and watched me rip the shit out of some stuff in my garden. I lol'ed

Fencing is for the French :gasp:

I took kendo classes for about a year, but then I dropped out when the instructor started being a douche and wouldn't teach us anything new. All we ever did was spar after that and it was pointless.

I was pretty decent at it...kinda rough too, I broke one girl's finger. Needless to say, she didn't come back.

lol. I wish I knew how to use swords, but I don't. I had a friend who had a katana, wakizashi and tanto but I was 16 at the time and couldn't handle them. Personally, I like hand-to-hand combat. Nothing like kicking ones ass w/out the aid of weapons.

haha well hand to hand is most practical if im looking for a fight, but just like the title says i do it as a sport. i dont go around looking for a fight with my swords. :P

btw, i forgot to mention that i do saber, not epee or foil

I got lessons in iato (Kendo bascially except slightly different) and got quite good. I then stopped going and started doing my own stuff. Wish i hadn't left. Its great fun though even better when friends are round and i start doing the freaky shit and they've got the "wtf" look on them. Its so funny

Well recently i'v started using dual but when i do work on that i use sticks only. I find it to complicated....i'f kinda afraid i mince myslef up when using two katanas at once

Freaky shit btw = twirling katana around, slicing katana inches away from brave volunteer friend's chest, power swinging it down, reverse backhand twirling (pointing the sword back instead of forward) use your creativity. The moves you can do is endless on swinging shizz

they train you in Iato to be able to kneel down and swipe a sword within an inch of someons eyes. Seriously. I dont tend to try that shit on people with a live blade...for obvious reasons

i did fencing for 4 years, sabre. i quit because we had this really annoying oldman that would shout at you for nothing. He got really annoying and i just quit after last christmas. i got up to grade 1 sabre and grade 2 foil which is terrible after 3-4 years but they didnt teach us and when they tried it was to boring and we just wanted to go back to femcing

The japanese are the best for teaching you sword fighting. They really push you ahead and are cruel, yet you benefit from it. My first day involved a group of us walking in and the head honcho running at us with a katana...scary but funny
