[T] The Hideout

I was saying to Mark the other day, I feel the only flaw with FFIX is the slow reaction times the characters have, like you give them a command, and they use it a minute or two after you have input it. I swear to god, it happened quite badly to my Eiko once, I was in Memoria and decided to stopwatch how long it'd take her to use a command. No joke, just above 2 minutes it took til she used it. :ffs:

I often feel that this will be a heavy stone that will keep FFIX down.

I never liked using Eiko in my party, but she was really useful when Dagger loses her voice. You're making me actually want to continue with my playthrough now. :wacky:

Eiko's White Magic is far superior to Garnet's, I mean, Curaga of Disk 4, really, girl, really? (At least from what I remember) And as Mark said, Full-Life <3. Plus, even though Garnet's summon magic is better than Eiko's, I really don't need another damage dealer in my party more than I need a reliable healer.

i don't think I ever used summon magic in IX, and if I did Madeen Eikos summon was much better than fucking ark! and you had the ribbon. immune to all statuses :ohoho:

anyway I just finished assassins creed brotherhood and rather appalled at how shit the ending, is, just need to mop up the off line trophies then its online boosting oh yeahh, anyone want to join me?

I've never been able to get into FFIX as much as VIII for mainly shallow reasons. The story is rather good, and Kuja is a fantastic villain... but the design took a turn for the worse from Final Fantasy VIII. The heads were MASSIVE, and outside of FMVs, Zidane and Vivi didn't look like a teenager and a kid. They looked like total midgets with massive lego block heads.

As well as that, the setting was rather... dull. Mainly grey, black, white and brown. It was rare that you actually saw green, blue, red etc, and too many times, you were in canyons, underground, or a rainy city.

As well as that, it was more classical than futuristic in orientation, and didn't really have enough technology to warrant being called steampunk, which is something I enjoyed in FFVI and FFVIII. I got the feeling that I was traipsing from place to place, waiting for said place to be destroyed by Brahne/Kuja, getting an ass kicking from Beatrix now and again. and that was it until mid disc 3.

...Yeah. I rant too much. :ffs:

That rant was awesome :lew:, and everything you said is completely true, i enjoy purely because of its story, I cannot get to grips with any of the characters of IX like i could with VIII.

VIII for me is the best Final Fantasy, closely followed by X, but VIII the characters were excellent not dull and boring and i feel you can really connect with them :mokken:

Completely opposite with the both of you. FFVIII is near the bottom, and FFX is one step above rock bottom. I hated the whole futuristic setting of FFVIII, and... everything about FFX. :ffs:

The only character in FFVIII that I liked was Quistis. I couldn't stand any other character for more than a few minutes at a time. Squall, in my opinion, stands as one of the weakest characters in the series. The setting, the story, the whole draw system, everything about that game was aggravating to me. I still ended up beating though, as bad as I thought it was, I don't think it anywhere near as bad as FFX.

FFX was just awful. I would start on just how much I hate that game, but I'd be here for hours.

Though, I do agree with one thing on Diar's post, it could have used better locations. After a while, you get to looking at the world, and too many places look far too alike.

Even though I love that game, even I can point out the flaws in it.

However, that's why I've got Chrono Motherfucking Cross over here. Haters gonna fucking hate on that game because it "had nothing to do with the original". Yeah, yeah, go fuck yourself. It was still a great game. Story was great, characters were great, music was great, setting was great, PLOT TWIST CAME OF FUCKING NOWHERE was great, man I fucking love that game. :ryan:

FFX can still eat a dick. :mokken:
