Shenorai!!!
The illusion around the ghost had vanished, separating the specter from the young woman and her living nightmare. It seemed that this time, it had come true.
Seven years ago on Shenorai's thirteenth birthday, a similar event had occurred. After her only mortal friend left the village to pursue his mercenary career, the young girl was called to the elders' mansion, supposedly to undergo a coming-of-age ceremony and to receive a birthday present from the elders in the village. Sadly, it was much more than they bargained for. Sleeping weed was slipped into her tea and Shen was dragged down into a secret room meant for exorcising demons from their hosts. Although the ritual had failed after inflicting near-fatal wounds upon the girl, Shenorai had grown to trust hardly anyone; in the village or otherwise. Leondra had seen this change and often wished they were never bound in the first place.
The ghost shook her head and dragged her thoughts back to the present. Though she had been parted from Shen, Leondra knew that she had to find her.
We were much closer than we thought, she said to herself, her hand resting on her chest. It felt warm, as though a living heart was beating within her. The cold spirit knew that this portion of the soul did not belong to her...but how to separate herself from it and return it to its rightful owner?
No, that didn't matter. She just had to find Shenorai and make sure she was alive. The absence of a body allowed her to move through anything, making this a far quicker search.
Leondra observed the goings-on in the room for several moments. It seemed that everyone else had returned to this 'realm'. With a frown, the ghost realized that Shenorai was the only one who had failed her trial of fear. Perhaps the others had fears that were easily dealt with. But whose was that voice? And just what was that thing before them?!
The ghost felt more helpless than she had in twelve years. At least when she was with Shen, she had a body to use whenever she felt it was needed. But no...though she wished she could help the friends of her friend, Leondra knew she had to find Shenorai first.
Whether she needed to or not, the ghost stretched her wings out and flapped them instinctively, soaring through the air as she would have in life. A new feeling of determination rushed through her soul. Shenorai's determination, she figured. Leondra turned sharply and began her search, disappearing through the walls and only appearing as a faint shadow in any reflective object.
Unfortunately for her, she had no clue that she was searching in entirely the wrong direction.
