Help Tantarian - Demons Mail??

Ok I have beat this game like 10 times already...
I even got the Excalibur II once...
But one thing I never did is steal Demons Mail from Tantarian :wtf:

I spent like 5-6 hours in battle with him trying to steal Demons Mail and then I gave up cause it seemed impossible.

I had same thing with Hilgigars (if I spelled correctly), heard that u can steal Fairy flute from him.....also impossible.

So I would like to hear if anyone else has this problem and also how to improve my chances for stealing this items ...??

As far as stealing goes...a couple of items are incredible difficult to steal, the Demon's Mail and Fairy Flute included. They aren't impossible, the chances of stealing them are just incredible low. Zidane has an ability that raises the success rate of stealing rare items, I believe, but that's about all you can do to help. The rest is just pure patience. :monster:
 
The tactics I used to get the demon's mail were as follows:

Equipped 'Bandit' ability to Zidane
Dealt 150 damage to Tantarian (makes him reveal his true form)
Used NO physical attacks after this
Activated Reis' Wind
Used antidote on anyone with poison
Constant stealing

As long as you only use magic to attack, it'll take ages until Tantarian switches back to book form (this is even if you have the 'mug' ability equipped too)

Did everything u just mentioned...
Antibody btw better solution than antidotes, and even used slow on him so Zidane steals like 2 times in a row until Tantarian attacks.

I knew a guy who did it in 2 tryes....I guess its just random luck
 
I forget what I had, I was pumped with abilities so I probably didn't have room, though it was my first fight with him so I guess I wasn't expecting it xD
 
It is just random luck. At this point of the game, you should already know the 'Bandit' ability, but that isn't enough. The other ability that would help would be 'Master Thief' which lets you steal rare items first, but that isn;t available until much later in the game.

The Bandit ability is your best bet at this point. I have stolen the Demon Mail, but not Fairy Flute. If you steal long enough, statistically speaking you should be able to get it, if not look on the bright side, the armor's not that good anyway and it doesn't teach you anything that you cant learn from something else.
 
Actually Master Thief is available from the point you get the Blue Narciss on. It's just a little later.
 
If it's been nearly a year, I doubt they're still stuck on this part, so let's not bring really old help booth threads back to life, okay?
