Teh meaning...of life

I think when people ask themselves this, it's in a selfish (I use that for lack of a better word) sense, they want to know what the meaning of their own life is not life in general or why the human race exists. I don't believe there IS a meaning to the human race other than survival, which is something that can be seen in any species, we just happen to be the "lucky" ones who think "Why am I here?".

So if you're asking is there a meaning to life in general, other than survival and various other instincts designed to ensure survival - no (not in my opinion anyway), otherwise life is what you make it.

To solve as many math problems as much as possible, and learn it as much as I can and draw.

Yes, that's the only meaning of life that will satisfy me, as simple and strange as it may sound.
If that's what you like doing than it shouldn't be strange. Angelus you're like a hero to me, after looking at your artwork I started drawing again, and I'll be able to use my scanner soon to get some pics on here.

Meaning of life... well for me I just want to be as happy as I can possibly be. There are tons of things that make me happy but I think overall its definitely my friends who make me happy. My friends are there for me when I need them.

Actually, there is a poll or something like that, that shows us exactly what everybody considers important, it looks something like a pyramid

at the top of the pyramid is security, ie saftey to yourself, we are all individuals therefore we will always protect ourselves first

next is the need for food, ie not going hungry

the third block of the pyramid is freedom, ie being able to go where you want, when you want etc

i can't remember anything besides the top three, it draws out to needs and wants after that, but those top three stay the same for all humans...

If you don't believe me, put yourself in a situation where your life is in danger, therefore you will fill need to protect yourself, even if you are starving or you are in a cage, you will want to protect yourself, not worry about those two

second, put yourself on a island, where you are safe from bodily harm, but don't have any food, you will worry about food then, even though you are free, you are hungry

third, put yourself in a cage, where food and security is provided, and then you will want out, ie freedom

they remain the same for all humans, doesn't really matter who you are

Kamui

we are born from dust, and that is where we shall return

Actually those three are at the bottom.
Like Merc said, it's maslow's hierarchy of needs, if it's not Maslow, it'll be one of those motivational theorists.
Next comes social, so being part of a social group which you enjoy. So that's pretty much friends and significant others. And at the top is self actualisation, or being the best that you can possibly be.
They are supposed to be what motivates people. There are obvious flaws, as people will give up security to achieve self actualisation.
For example an artist would live on the street if it means he feels he comes closer to producing great works of art.
They aren't for the meaning of life, but if they were to be achieved, you'd probably live an enjoyable life.

The religious side of me says that God will eventually reveal his intentions for me.

The (rather conflicting) postmodernist in me rejects your suggestion of a meta-narrative.

Either way, my policy is to roll with the punches and learn along the way. I've got some goals I want to achieve, but I don't necessarily consider them part of my purpose here on earth, but rather as venues to enjoy life as best as I can.

I say it's strange because other people desire some kind of comfort by having friends, significant others and anything else that makes them feel less lonely--these things are not within my definition of the purpose of life. They also have purposes more relative to morality, but mine are just based on activities I like to do.

Most people could not substitute their purposes of life for something like mathematics. Even their hobbies might not make them feel less lonely, but loneliness does not bother me.

The meaning of life for me is to became the best EVER!

Seriously now,I think my purpose is to have a joyful life.Don't know how I'll manage to achieve that. But talking about love, just bugs me.I mean it's good to experience love but that's was never the purpose of a human it was just a flavor.

I agree with her to a certain extent. I think the ultimate experience for a person is happiness. For many people, that would be finding the person they love but other people want something different. And I think the meaning of life is to pursue and achieve whatever it is that would make you happy, love or otherwise.

For me, the meaning of life would be to connect with the God, the Goddess, and Nature all the way down to a very basic level, and finding someone to share that connection with. So, yeah, love, but other stuff too. :)

Life

The only meaning life has, is the meaning you give it(not sure if this was mentioned alrdy >.>). The purpose of life is to end, which is depressing but ultimately true.

Some people, put different values on different things, for example some people put alot of value on friends, and little or none on family. Or Vice versa, i could go on and on with different examples, but ultimately your lifes meaning should be something you enjoy doing.

For example: If you enjoy helping people, and become a doctor, you spend alot of your time helping people, your lifes purpose is to help people.

If you like defending those who cannot defend themselves and become a Lawyer, your lifes purpose is to cheat people out of their money(j/k lol), i mean help those who are defenseless.

Im not saying if you enjoy seeing others people sad, or enjoy hurting others, you should be a serial killer. Or if you enjoy pissing off people you should be a politician.

I have issues with believing your life is "predestined" before your born because we can be whatever we want to be. Someone who is born physically strong isnt neccesarily meant to be a Bodybuilder or UFC's next Ultimate Fighter, just as a drop-dead beautiful girl isnt meant to be a model.

However i do enjoy some of lifes Unanswered questions like:

"How come bars have parking lots when your not supposed to drink and drive" or "What happens if your scared half to death twice?" XD.
