As we all know, Final Fantasy XII revolutionised the way that we battle in Final Fantasy games, excluding Kingdom Hearts. With this difference, how did you find the final bosses in XII compared to the typical (chain of) boss battles in other instalments? Your answer can be inclusive of other factors, for example, do the final bosses of XII qualify to you as memorable bosses? Were they too easy/difficult? Were the cutscenes helpful in adding to the excitement, or just too much?

I found the final bosses rather dissapointing really, all of them, except for The Undying, weren't the epically huge monsters we're used to fighting as the final boss - compare Gabranth and Vayne to the likes of Safer Sephiroth, Necron, and Braskas Final Aeon...they're kind of a letdown.

However, the final boss levels up along with you, so it should be a small challenge at all times. I don't like the fact that Vayne is some karate hand-to hand fighter. It didn't seem right to use his fists.

You're clearly thinking of another thread. Don't ruin these. ;D

Well, as far as The Undying goes, he was pretty challenging at first but after awhile it had gotten easy.

Not many bosses I remember having a very hard time on, actually.

Elder Worm, Tiamat...meh, that's all I can remember.

The final boss actually gave me a hard time. >.> I think it took me 2 - 3 tries to finally defeat him, and it was a long battle. I thought I was going to die every five minutes, but managed to cure my characters just on time.

I guess what made it more difficult for me is the fact that the characters are actually movable and not your typical attack-stand still-attack. Having the characters move as well as the boss felt like there were a lot more things going on as you hurriedly try to cast magic spells and such. What's the word...overwhelming? Yes, it was quite overwhelming on my part.

What i can't stand, is that he had planet-destroying animations like gigaflare sword and Terraflare....only to do 2000 damage.

Are you counting those as bosses?

Like Bahamut King, Carrot, etc...? haha.

No, more like Yiazmat, Gilgamesh, Hell Wyrm xD.

I thought the boss was extremely dissapointing. There was no strategy involve, all that you needed to do was level up a bit more if he gets too hard.
I guess it's the same with all FF bosses though, I mean really.
Safer Sephiroth is the hardest in the set tbqh.
Yu-Yevon was a one-hit kill xD

I had a great time facing all of FFXII's final bosses. What I will remember the most out of the FFXII Undying one though is the cinema right before battle where Vayne absolutely sucks every piece of metal within 8 miles away onto his body to transform. it's a great battle and tricky at times even at fairly high levels (I was level 60 when I beat the game), but he's definitely able to be defeated with ease if you're a FF experienced player.

Great final battle indeed.

I was rea;ly dissapointed with the final boss. I had Penelo set up to heal heal & heal some more and Bashe & Balthier just hacked away at him while I watched

The only time I picked my pad up was to unleash a chain of quickenings (which I really can't remember if they did any damage or not) and then after to use an elixer :wacky:

But no, I wouldn't say it was a memorable fight at all. The FMV beforehand was pretty impressive but that's about it >_>

The Undying looked epic but in terms of difficulty it was disappointing, I didn't even come close to breaking a sweat (level 50 mind). It just got to the point where I just wished it'll end so I can watch the beautiful ending. >_<

I liked the final battles, First Gabranth that has nothing left but the anger towards his brother, Basch. Then Vayne, Larsa helps you with him because he wants to stop Vayne's evil doing. After that Vayne sucks the power from Larsa, and then Gabranth helps you because he realized that his other purpose was to protect Larsa.
And then the epic battle against a fusion of Venat and Vayne, The Undying. Which was really epic because he had very strong attack magics and quickenings, and could protect himself from phisycal and magical attacks.

The final bosses were a big disappointment, to say the least. They didn't offer any sort of challenge. Gabranth and Vayne are both just as weak as each other, until The Undying. They don't compare to Seymour Omnis or any of the bosses in previous games. Gilgamesh would have made a much more worthy final boss, in a good way. It's probably more to do with the battle system that the ending was so quick... =(
You don't even get much time to fight on Bahamut. It's just Gabranth the weak, Vayne the pathetic, Vayne with some cool flying magic swords, and Bahamut Vayne...

ok, the final boss battle of FFXII was the best FF boss battle ever!
the cut scenes where a little overdone and dramatic, i was only lvl 73 with vaan and he kicked butt, batheier(dont kill me if i miss spell i stink at names) was lvl 71 and was awsome, and just with them (penelo keep dieing) i kicked butt, it took me about 50 mins to kill the final boss(cant remeber his name sorry).
and to add to all that, they kinda messed up the whole FF franchize with the new battle system!
it completely changed for the better and for wrose.

The final boss was a disappointment for me, too, mainly because Vayne's character was so undeveloped. I didn't feel anything about him: just some eminent guy who the party hadn't even met before. I was hoping there would've been at least few encounters with him during the plot, like Kuja, Sephiroth, or Kefka. Also, I couldn't imagine he would use his fists to fight the party. I was expecting a gun or a sword. It just looked stupid when he was kicking and punching. His transformations looked pretty cool, I especially liked the grotesque look (and the way he transformed) of the "Novus" for. Transforming into The Undying looked pretty painful too. Overall the battles were visually impressive. The Undying's attacks especially were really cool. Too bad they just looked destructive. They didn't too much damage at all.

The fights were a bit challenging for me for the first time, since my levels were pretty low and I had bad equipment. But now they're quite easy. I still hate the last form, though, because the barriers he uses are so damn annoying. I mean, what's the point? Couldn't they just make him challenging in other ways than putting in some stupid barrier that does nothing but prolong the battle? It's just a cheap way to make the battle "harder".

It was still pretty epic, though. The music was awesome as hell.

Ultima should have been the last boss, or the battle should have been similar to the one with Ultima. I wouldn't have been so disappointed otherwise. I reckon Zodiark was the hardest boss though, bloody Darkja....
