I am really excited to see this movie. I loved the book (but was equally horrified by it.)

I wonder how they're going to do this movie, and if they can keep it under an R rating. What they'll put in... and leave out. Looking forward to the trailer coming out tomorrow.

Anyone else?

This movie was really good though the flash backs were a bit wierd.

I actually thought I had a dodgy copy of the movie originally because it just didn't look right.

Other than that, great movie. Loved the idea of it.

Haven't read the book though so I don't know how it compares to the movie.

i thought it was average. watching it didn't make me want to read the book, in fact i had wanted to read it previously but after seeing the film i was put off.

I enjoyed it. But I didn't think it was particularly spectacular. I was entertained though which is the main thing. I haven't read the books and don't intend to. But I'll probably see the sequels.

It reminded me a fair bit of Battle Royale.

The movie was surprisingly faithful to the book, which I found really enjoyable. Overall I thought it was pretty average as well. The books work really well in the way the author inserts the suspense. Sadly though by the third book the writing gets a bit wonky and the story more ridiculous. Hopefully the next films can surpass the books.

apparently there was quite a big increase in popularity in battle royale around the time the hunger games came out, and even talk of a remake. i could see a lot of inspiration from battle royale in it.

i'll probably watch catching fire when it comes out. apparently the second book is quite crap though, so i don't have very high hopes for it. i think it's rather interesting that it has taken the release slot previously filled by the twilight films (mid-november) so the studio must be expecting big things from it.

watched this witht eh boy abit back, he got so bored and went off doing something else, i thought it was ok, but it was really really cheesy in parts. especially when that kid died and she was shoving flowers all over her.

I prefer battle royale.

It had stayed faithful to the book and at the same time it changed some major things, I know why though, things like..

Not having the make up team (as I call them, part of Cinna's team) there
Not having the Mayor's Daughter at all in the movie
Not having Pete's Dad meet with Catnis before they leave on the train.
Mayor's Daughter giving her the mocking jay pen.

Small yet major things, makes me kinda not want to watch the second one for two reasons
Firstly this is the biggest book, and only having one movie for it
secondly how much of the movie well be..

Touring the districts with Peeta, and how much of it will be the fighting in the arena again?

In my own opinion the second book is a really good sequel, and could rival the first, so hopefully the movie wouldn't suffer. It's the third book, however, that's a bit troubling. It's not even worth a read and I like to think that the writing of the potential third movie might take things in a different direction.

But yea I've seen interviews where the author claims she never even knew about Battle Royale before writing the book. I'm not sure if it's true but I prefer Battle Royale over the Hunger Games series, just for the larger sense of tragedy.

Battle royale is amazing, Im not sure I believe the author didnt know about it, perhaps never watched/read it, but certianly heard of it and thought ooh not a bad idea... of course i could be wrong, but im skeptical like that
