True. Whe he uses Omnislash in FFVII Cloud does a good deal of moving around, but in a way that makes more sense and makes it difficult for his opponent to get out of the way. Plus doesn't he do roughly 30 hits with the original Omnislash?

Fu fu fu you have to wonder what exactly was wrong with Sephy that he didn't try and get away from Omnislash 5:D

I think the exact hit count for the original Omnislash is...fifteen or so, not counting the finishing move. Of course, you have to remember that Advent Children was made to mirror the typical Shounen anime, where the golden rule for combat is "The flashier the attack, the stronger it is." So, supposedly, the Omnislash Ver.5 did more damage than the original...once you, y'know, completely throw logic out the window and assume you're fighting an immobile opponent.

As for your second question, it's actually quite easy to answer, my friend. Sephiroth, you see, is the least intelligent fighter in the history of combat. Yes, that includes prehistoric cavemen with spears. For as incredibly strong as the guy is, he lacks any sort of common sense. Even someone without any experience in battle knows that it's probably a good idea to avoid your opponent's attacks. I mean, he's been killed twice already. Both times he was offed by Cloud, and both times it was due to his arrogance. You'd think he'd have realized by then that Sephiroth+Omnislash=Dead Sephiroth. You really do have to wonder what was going through old Sephy's head at the time...Does he really think he's so strong that he can just take the Omnislash head-on? I mean, if you think back to FF7 itself, the original Omnislash was what did him in, so...

*falls over sword laughing*

Hahahaha Thank Jeebus someone who thinks like me!! Don't get me wrong, I do like Sephiroth, but more for his stupidity than his marsterful evildoing. He really thinks he's indestructable, though I noticed he was kinda choking up when he said to Cloud afterwards "I will never be a memory". Was he about to cry because he realized he'd been beaten bu Omnislash again?>_<

Agreed. I mean, I like Sephiroth as much as the next guy, but he doesn't seem to be the sharpest sword in the armory when it comes to matters of combat. I can understand that he was a little arrogant. If I'd just obtained godly powers and had become the strongest fighter in my universe, I'd probably be a little thick-headed, too. I can even understand that he'd want to toy with Cloud a bit. But what I don't get is that, no more than two years ago, Sephiroth was ripped to shreds by that same attack. What's more, he was offed by a weaker version of it (I can only assume that Version 5 hits a bit harder). And, really, how much effort would it have taken for him to rise up a couple of feet? Then he would've gotten to laugh along with the audience as Cloud flew around like an idiot in mid-air for thirty seconds, completely unable to hit him.

And the image of Sephiroth crying over being beaten by Cloud for the third time is very amusing. You can only imagine what he was thinking at the time. "Damnit, my ingenious plan of standing perfectly still has somehow failed. I was hoping it would work this time..."

Suppose so?
Answering the main question in this thread... Well, i still think FFVII's Omnislash is stronger, considering it whacks so many times...
