I think that he had a bigger role in the Japanese version than he did in the US version. I've seen on a fight between Cloud & him on Youtube that I never saw in the US version of the game.

I'd like to join because Sephiroth is the world's best villain because he used his powers to mind control Cloud to get the black materia and he won't stop at any cost to get what he wants. Thats what I like about him he really really determined plus he's an AMAZING fighter.........

his sword is an An ōdachi called Masamune, a legendary sword in Japanese's folklore.

Sephiroth is the only villain in the first 7 games who actually looks like a villain especially wif his long silver hair and massive sword.
and the part of ff7 when he joins ur party is the greatest moment in final fantasy history
