I think I saw a review for a Final Fantasy VI remake in a PlayStation magazine, and thought it looked like good fun, so I bought that.. and I've been hooked on Final Fantasy ever since.
I then played VII, V, IV, I, II, X-2, FFTA, X (I didn't see X in the shop the first time), XI, and XII.
My favourite is still Final Fantasy VI, by the way

I've played FFs like this:
FFVIII - the game that made me love FF. It's a great game IMO.
FFX - Greates RPG out there.
FFX-2 - Fun to play yet the story blows big time
FFIX - (still playing) Great game
And I've played a bit of FFVII. I just couldn't continue.
