The Perpetual Twilight RP

"Lord Kypneam! Reports from the scouts have said the Prince and a small group is fighting some of our ghouls in a field a mile away from the Royal Tombs!" The guard returned quickly to tell Kypneam.

Kypneam, who had been organizing the crack force was stunned.

"The Royal Tombs!?" He thundered, causing the guard to stagger back in fear.

After all, Kypneam knew that if the Prince were to reach the Royal Tombs, it'll be problematic, seeing they will not be able to pursue any longer. Dark energy filled him instinctively once again.

Turning to the force that was still at attention, he commanded. "Men! Now the Prince is nearing his most reliable way of escape. Once he reaches it, our Liege shall have failed to complete his overtaking of the throne! Do us all proud, capture the Prince in this mission!"

This was followed by a roar of agreement.

"Alright. Move out as planned!" Kypneam ordered.

The force moved out fairly quickly. Taking the time before the force left, he used his ability once again.

This time, summoning the cavalry that resisted their attacks during the war, he sent them after the Prince. Though he knew they would easily crumble on one hit to them, at least he was comforted by the fact they would be able to hold the Prince back long enough.

Furthermore, if the numbers were to decrease, the other's strength will increase, since the energy used in summoning the particular spirit can never be destroyed.

Hissing in distaste at having to summon such weak spirits desperately, he stomped along after the troops that left.

(And thus, I shall move to the Prince..

Somehow, the battle mustn't erupt in full force though, so I've sent several undead Cavalry over. Please note the description of the Cavalry in this post. It'll be important to know that they do not have strong vitality enough to withstand countless of blows thanks to their numbers, but they're the fastest means of reaching someone who's nearing escape.

You guys can describe the cavalry attack any way you wish though, but please stay in time to receive an attack from the force, or at least, part of the force before escaping, thanks.)

The Assassin did not need the Prince's warning, her own on the brink of tumbling from her lips. She almost smiled at that. Seemed Markus was attuned more than she thought. She had chastized him often on the placement of his blade; one that made drawing it a tad longer than she would have liked, yet he always impressed her with the simple and effective way he brought the sword to his strongest arm. Solstice was used to watching the Prince train, and so it was perhaps a couple of seconds longer than necessary that she watched him, before her instincts flooded her, snow white blade cutting with ease through the air.

Solstice was agile on her feet, almost cat like in her movements and as graceful as a dancer. The pure white edge whispered with every swing, her attacks swift and precise. She may have lacked the physical strength of Markus and Jacel as well as their bulk, but the winged girl was incredibly quick in her movements. She did not specialize in straight on attacks, skilled in the art of finding the weak points and capitilizing upon it in an instant.

She paused momentarily as a kunai left her hand, slicing through a ghoul in a glint of light. Her pale eyes alighted upon the one thing she had been fearing. "Prince!!" she yelled above the battle noises behind her. "Henrietta!" A pulse of dark energy formed in her hand, wings spread to their fullest, flickering in anticiption. "Seems we have more company..." The dark pulse left her hand to take a ghoul in the stomach, immediately engulfing it, leaving nothing more than a smoldering black mess. Her eyes flicked back to the army now approaching. "They sure caught up with us faster than I expected..." she hissed, moving to stand closer to the prince, sword cutting through a ghoul in the process. "We're going to have to be quick."

"Jacel, you idiot... where are you!" she cursed her brother. From the looks of the army, they were going to need more than just the three of them. "This could get messy... I hope you're both ready..."

((Damn you and your ghouls Danny xDDD))

The odachi dug deep into a writhing ghoul that Henrietta had knocked to the floor. A mysterious black goo spurted from the wound, as if it was the last of its life escaping. Drops of it splattered on the guards pale skin and armour, but it was close to negligible. The surrounding near her was mostly cleared and the remaining ghouls lumbered in a bit more slowly than their initial comrades. About to take the tempo of the battle down a notch, Solstice's warning dragged her eyes from the ghouls. On the horizon came a large force of Calvary. She no doubt knew that these were probably the dead from the battle, as it was known that the Umbra had necromaners, but the ghouls were more a threat than them for now. I'll take these ghouls out fast then. Around her hand, a spiral of wind whirled around the palm and up to her elbow. With a simple flick of her arm, the wind shot out like an arrow. The destructive element hit the undead in the chest and drilled through it with gory effect. The drilling action tore the monster and made it seem like it had exploded form the inside. From her left hip, Henrietta drew out her wakizashi and threw them both at two ghouls, hitting them straight in the head. With her rear cleared, all that was left was the 5 in front of her and the army of calvary undeads behind them.

Kypneam hurried his men. By now, his cavalry should have arrived on the group. All's left is to stall them. Hopefully they do not know this true purpose of the undead cavalry..

"HURRY!" Kypneam shouted fiercely, temporarily boosting the speed of the troops (Most probably due to the shock of suddenly hearing him scream when he was silent throughout most of the journey so far)

Sighing, he ran with them. "Cavalry. Stall them till our arrival!" He muttered in a secret language only he knew, impatience clouding his voice as he ran.

---
Over at the cavalry:

"Lord Kypneam tells us to stall the group. Men. Surround the group. Do not let them slip past us." The knight at the head of the crew said in a lifeless tone.

This was followed by a monotone 'Yes' as they stomped on towards the group.

The whispering voices of the undead filled Markus' ears as he glared at them slowly, they may have been whispering to each other but due to them being dead he heard what they said as clearly as though they stood right next to him. "They're trying to stall us!" Markus shouted, he easily defeated the few remaining Ghouls and readied his blade for the attack by the cavalry. "Kill who you must but get to that tomb before whoever they're stalling for gets here!" The group of cavalry had begun to encircle the group but Markus did not allow them to do it in time, he sprinted forwards, avoiding the tail end of a spear one of the Cavalry tried to attack him with.

The cavalry had encircled the rest of the group but Markus attacked the undead who had attacked him and easily dispatched him with one swift blow to his chest with the tip of his blade. The Undead fell to the ground and seemed to disintegrate into the ground and his horse fell with the body, disappearing as though one with the body. The two horseman next to the one who fell turned to Markus, eyes glinting red with anger and attacked Markus, however they did not seem to go for the kill, something which disadvantaged them a lot. Markus grabbed the spear aimed for his shoulder and pulled him off his horse. He brought the blade down into his chest and rolled across the ground to avoid the second spear. He pulled his blade from the undeads chest and blocked the spear again with the edge of the blade.

"Come on! We need to get to those damned tombs!" Markus shouted as he dispatched another undead.

Inspired by his chosen lords rallying cry Zingrad charged ahead of the rest, hoping to make it to the heat of battle as quickly as possible, his sword unsheathed in his right hand and the chains wrapped around his left.

He knew the princes head would bring a bounty beyond any earthly sum and he wanted to be the one to claim it, however once again something wasn't quite right....

The closer he came to the ongoing battle the stronger it became, he could sense another lifeform again, different but the same as the one in the throneroom, it became as clear as daylight, as if he could actually see the bearer of the energy as if they were right in front of him....

"A Winged one....Fighting aside the prince???" he was completely astounded by this and completely taken back by it that he slowed down for a moment as the confusion set in....

"Why can I sense this winged one, what is wrong with me, why can I sense any winged one?" he muttered to himself, completely thrown off his orginal thoughts by this revelation.

"Well I guess theres only one way to find out!" Zingrad shook his head and charged quicker towards the battle, if he was going to get answers, he needed to capture the winged one...Alive!

Sheathing his bloodsoaked blade he looked toward the path that the girl had gone to, it seemed she had ran in the direction he was heading As he was about to walk down the path after her he noticed a blade in the path, almost like it was thrown. Picking it up he looked at the design, it was one of his sister's kunai, she must have left a trail in the path, judging by the thrown direction it was an indication to the direction they were headed. Starting to run, in order to outrun any more pursuers he followed any little indentation in the ground, he knew what they were and eventually caught up to the girl. Lifting her up into his arms he continued to run, as the girl protested he didn't speak, right now all he wanted to do was get them as far away from the castle as possible.

Stefan flew outside where the death was strong and fresh, like the bodies have been killed a few minutes ago.He landed and looked down at the bodies and noticed it was women and children. As he knelt down to a woman he heard a little girl screaming and crying in pain, Stefan noticed that she was covered in blood. He walked over to her and got down on his knee so he could make eye contact.

"Whats the matter"Stefan said softly to the girl while raiseing her head with his hand gently.

"I....t..t.t......hurts.....s..o..bad"The girl said holding her chest.

"Let me see it"Stefan said moving her hand and seen a huge gash across her chest pretty deep by the looks of it."Ok hold still"Stefan said putting his hand on her chest and a black aura went over the wound.

"Oh my god, thank you so much I always though The Winged Ones were selfish and evil but you the nicest one I have ever met"The girl said smiling and crying with joy.

"Your welcome, but I need you to do something to make this work'Stefan said looking at her.

"Huh what do you mean"The girl said.

"You have to make an oath with me to promise not to kill for power or any other on the sins"Stefan said.

"I promise, what if I dont keep this promise"The girl said.

"I will have to kill you"Stefan said while helping the girl up.

"Ok I promise"The girl said before hugging him.

"Do you know where the prince is that rules this castle or use to"Stefan said.

"Well before I was in pain I heard that him and some other guards were running toward the tombs I think"The girl said.

"Ok, now I am going to bring you somewhere safe before that Rhade's troops come and kill you or worse for talking with me"Stefan said.

"You made him mad why did you do that"The girl said.

"Long story I will tell you later now we have to move"Stefan said before grabbing the girl and hosting her on his back and flying off until they got to a cave deep in a forest outside Umbra.

The sight of the calvary gave Henrietta a wde and vicious grin. They had no idea who they were up against. The odachi was made purposely for taking down horsemen and rider in one sweep. Her fight was made easier the fact that they crumbled under the slightest strikes. With a flurry of swings, undead horse and riders crumbled like dust as they charged,. sliced down in one strike. "Come on! We need to get to those damned tombs!". Henrietta would have stayed until the area was clean of enemies, but orders from the prince was not to be disobeyed. Stepping backwards as she continued to take down enemies, with gritted teeth, Henrietta began falling back and regrouping with her comrades.

OOC: I can't post much until Apollo posts.

Amelia sat on the Queen's throne, eyes closed up tight in concentration as she guided the lumbering undead towards Kypneam's army, ordering them to help him and to obey his every order.
She left a telepathic message in Kypneam's mind. Don't lose control of them, Kypneam, or they'll slaughter the Prince.

Zingrad rushed faster and faster, breathing quite heavily as his armor placed extra weight on him, but he knew if he pushed on he would catch them as the energy he could sense grew more intense as he closed in...

As he turned another corner...he finally caught a glimpse of the one he could sense....a woman....not just any normal woman though....a winged one!

Without hestiation, Zingrad channeled his aura and lashed his chains out at her hoping to bind her with them and stop her escape.

"You wont get away that easily, I want answers and your going to give them to me!!" Zingrad shouted out in her direction as the chains closed in on there intended target....

Solstice's blade touched the ground very lightly, held at a comfortable angle, her cold eyes almost rolling as the army advanced. Whilst she was painfully aware of the fact that they were outnumbered by the score, the arrogance that came with being a born assassin caused her to almost smirk. Her lip quirked at the corner, eyes dancing with the challenge as in one swift movement, the girl entered the fray.

Snow white glinted stark against the dark of the cavalry, flashing in the blink of an eye. It was as the battle progressed that the change slowly overcame Solstice, her eyes blurring from their soft leaf green to a vivid, vicious yellow. It was through muffled hearing that she heard the Prince's command, battlelust now ringing through her veins. She moved to fall back to the Prince, ready to guard him on their flight to the Royal Tombs when a voice rang through her head.

"You won't get away that easily, I want answers and you're going to give them to me!!"

A growl ripped from her throat as piercing yellow eyes snapped up as the chains homed in. They would have bound her as intended... If Solstice's reflexes were not perfectly honed. Her wings spread and pumped the air, propelling her forwards, around the chains and towards the strange form who had launched the attack upon her. Three kunai left her hand simultaneously. Darkness shrouded her arm, pulsing to concentrate in her now balled fist as the Assassin neared her target. The fist aimed for his midsection, even as she danced around behind him, sword swinging in an upwards arc towards his back, her voice filled with venom as she spoke.

"If you want to catch me, you're going to have to be quicker than that."

((Do NOT interrupt :gasp:))

Zingrad grimmaced as the kunai headed towards him, he quickly deflected two of them with his sword but the third one struck true, dropping him to his knees...

Breathing heavily, he spat up a small pool of blood as he grabbed hold of the kunai and with a jerking motion, ripped it from his chest and yelled out in pain..

He slowly climbed to his feet and locked his eyes upon the female winged one and brought his chains up in front of him with his aura..

"Bitch, your not going to make this easy are you?" he snapped and with a roar charged forward at his opponent swinging his sword violently and lashing out with the chains as if they were a vipers tongue as they coiled and flicked out at the winged one...

"Dammit!" Markus scowled as one of the horsemen caught him off guard and gave him a cut beneath his left cheek bone. It wasn't fatal but it would most likely scar, Markus dispatched the horsemen speedily and rolled to avoid a spear to his chest. The Cavalry had obviously figured that in order to defeat the group they would have to fight to kill, not just to render unconscious. Cavalry Archers had finally arrived and Markus daced around his close-combat enemies as much as he could to avoid the arrows, or if possible force the arrows to hit his enemy. This rarely succeeded as the arrows somehow seemed to bend around the Cavalry Spearmen and redirect themselves at Markus. In the corner of his eyes he saw Solstice battling someone and cursed, the enemy seemed very proficient in the art of combat, however Markus did not worry for he knew Solstice was very capable in combat. She had saved his skin enough times.

He threw himself forward to avoid an arrow and using the chance he curved his blade upwards through the horse's torso, killing both the undead and horse. As Markus turned a spearmen had snuck up on his, his horse struck Markus with it's front legs, forcing Markus to fall to the ground. The Horse rose up to fall on Markus but Markus rolled to the left, his cape was trapped under the horses feet and ripped as Markus rolled out of the way. He cursed as his cape dirtied under the horses feet, the cape was a Royal Relic, it was capable of deflecting arrows and was quite valuable. If given the chance he would have to travel to the magical weavers up north for a replacement.

"Solstice! Hurry up! We need to get out of here before whoever these guys are stalling us for gets here!"

Things were becoming more hairy by the minute. The horde kept rushing forward in an endless tide and Henrietta was but one warrior. She had managed to prevent herself from being encircled, but all she could do was defend. Tch, this is bad. We need to get out of this field... From the corner of her eyes, she spotted Solstice and the Prince. The Assassin was locked in combat with a skilled warrior, but the Prince was attacked from behind by a spearmen. Forgetting about her own problem, Henrietta turned towards the Orince, but that one second of unawarness meant that an undead swordsmen was able to cut at her. The dirty blade intended to take her whole leg off, but her gauntlet parried just in time to bend the angle it came in at. Instead of missing a leg, a large gash ran across her thigh. Ngghh! she grunted as she shifted position and one of her wakizashi into the swordsmen's head. More than ever, Henrietta needed to go, but with all enemies still around, a distraction was required. Well, its all out or nothing... she muttered as the odachi blurred and disappeared whilst the air around her rippled.

John was watching the battle through his binoclulars, he couldn't help but wonder what put him into the situation, he noticed the young girl and her black wings, as well as Prince Markus, which made him think about the day that girl came to the city. The young boy that found her, he was wise in doing so.

John's mind then turned to the attack on the Crystairian Capital, and what his mind has on what his "parents" told him.

He put away his spyglass, and toss his hollowed-grip dagger into the air, then removed his staff from the holster. The blade's grip fell onto the top of the staff, locking the Crux staff in place.

John said, "Even though we have lost the kingdom, we have not lost our patriotism. Let the victor.....be justice." He jumps out of the tree, naginata at hand, and proceeded to get the jump on the dark spearmen attacking the prince. He managed to kill the horse, though the soldier dodged it at the last second. Not one to forget his curtousy, he said, "Good day, your majesty, I am John Baptiste, of the Royal Army."

He then ran towards the Umbran spearmen, and started to duel him, using his Naginata to swing low at his knees. However, the dark warrior dodged it by jumping and tried to slice him in two, only to be blocked with the wooden Mesquite staff. The Umbran spearmen said, "This country is not fit for this world, this is fate." John yelled "No....This is CRYSTAIR!!!" before kicking him off. "and you're not fit to desecrate this kingdom, Let me show you a little manners before I kick your ass OUT!!!!"

OOC: Perhaps this would be a great time to visit dear Prince's crew.

"Stall them. Ensure they are forced towards us! We shall arrive very soon." Kypneam ordered the horsemen via his spirit connection with his minions.

Looking back at the running soldiers, he saw that he should be able to reach the Prince soon. His mission weighed heavily on him, but the fact he was soon to reach the objective pleased him to no end. "Move it. FASTER!" Kypneam shouted, hurrying his men.

"I want the Prince, dead or alive, do it and you shall be handsomely rewarded. Fail, and you shall not live to see the next dawn!"

At this, the men rushed desperately, death is such an useful incentive. Smilling he heard men crying about seeing the Prince and saw that the head of the soldier body rushing at full speed.

"Finally, Lord Rhade's true rise to the throne shall be complete. Prince.. You're doomed." Kypneam whispered to himself, rushing to join the soldiers that should have already engaged the Prince.

OOC:Is it ok for me to help the Prince

Stefan got up and left the cave, the girl was already fast asleep and would be until he got back he could sense that the princes guards werent going to be enough for Rhade's army so he decided to help.

When he got where the Prince was he could see Kypneam and his troops engaging the Prince and he unsleathed his sword."Maybe I could hold this army off long enough for the Prince to run"Stefan thought and a smirked formed on his face and he swung his sword and one of the soldiers and the battle raged on.

At his words and the challenging roar that accompanied his sudden rush forward, a part of Solstice's humanity broke. Feral instinct so unbridled coursed through her that she barely even felt the chain tear at the edge of her left wing, ripping through skin so that a couple of her shimmering black feathers departed to fall slowly to the ground. Her assault was swift, rage barely suppressed as in a flicker of white, her blade was held at the other's throat. An almost shrill giggle left her mouth, her nose inhaling a scent all too familiar.

"So you are one too, huh?" she asked, yellow eyes fierce as her free hand dug between his shoulder blades. "Seems you don't bear the wings that distinguish our kind. What's the matter, are you a wingless winged one?" She freed a kunai from her boot and used it to easily cut away the material protecting his back before jabbing at the exposed gap between his shoulder blades. "Ohhhh, silly, immature winged one. Not even able to sprout wings? Or do you not realise what filth runs through your veins?" She brought the blade harder against his neck. "You listen to me, scum. Our kind are despised for the talent we are born with. You really think your precious King will keep you alive after the Prince is destroyed?"

Her eyes glinted briefly green at the mention of the Prince. "You are mistaken. We are forever shrouded in darkness and our instinct to kill as assassins will eventually overwhelm us, transforming us into beasts that can only maim and kill. Your King would kill you before he allowed that to happen. As you are now, you are nothing more than a disposible pawn in his game. If you were to die today, it would save himself from doing it later. How highly do you think of him now, weak one?"

She moved from him, black wings lifting her a couple of inches off the ground. "You are as I am. Born to kill. I will spare you... but it is out of pity of your lack of understanding yourself. Next time we meet... it won't be so easy."

"Prince, first chance we get, we're making a break for it!"

((Sorry for the not very battle filled Solstice stuff, but Darkrul and I decided to have Solstice reveal to him what he was for plot development and character purposes later))

Upon Solstices words of what he was, Zingrad gasped in horror, falling to his knees and dropping his sword to the floor....

"No...I cant be...No it isnt true!" Zingrad shuck his head and pounded the ground in rage, the more he thought about it however, the more it made sense....the yellow of his eyes, the ability to sense winged ones, the fact that he could control his own aura with ease.... as he began to feel a burning sensation running across the arch of his back he yelled out in pain, grabbing his chest tightly as black wings pushed there way from the flesh of his back.

The moment was one of the most agonising Zingrad had ever gone through in his life, the pain so blinding that he could not scream out, then the pain suddenly subsided as the wings had fully potruded and taken form.

Slowly, and hesistantly Zingrad looked over his shoulder to see his newly formed black feathered wings...."Yes....I am one of them, but I'm not an animal and noone shall treat me as such, I wont be anyones pawn anymore!".

Zingrad got to his feet, realising if he stayed here, he would be in danger as The Generals rage knows no bounds, and he has seen just how he deals with failure.

Picking his sword up and sheathing it hastily, Zingrad searches around for an escape route, he initially refuses to follow the other winged one and her prince as he knew it would only lead to his death, remembering Solstices warning, and going back would lead him to The General and his persuing army...

"That it!" he mentions as he spots an undead mounted spearman, and quickly wraps his chains around him and throws him off and steals its horse...and makes a break for it down the only coridoor he could, the princes direction, he just prays the horse is fast enough to get past them un-hindered...
